My recent experience with VRBO and this property has been nothing short of a nightmare. I booked and paid early February for a July stay. It has been 17 days past the check in day and the owner has yet to complete my refund. I have contacted the property owner 5 times and connected with VRBO 4 times. No resolution. I expected better.
Upon arriving at the property, we were immediately taken aback that the place had not been cleaned and the upstairs air conditioner was not functioning. There was a massive pile of dirty laundry in the kitchen, hair in the bathroom sink, and unvacuumed floors. There had been a mix-up and the cleaning team did not come.
We needed to find alternative lodging for 6 of us coming from Wisconsin and California. The host agreed to cancel.
On Monday, the planned checkout day, I asked about my refund, and I am still waiting for restitution. According to VRBO’s policy and the host, I should be entitled to a full refund. Unfortunately VRBO’s process was disappointing. Despite providing evidence of the agreement with the host, they let me know there was nothing they could do.
Finally, I went so far as to send the host the VRBO instructions on how to process a refund and there has still been no response. I am stressed and frustrated. I urge anyone considering using this VRBO to be cautious and think twice before booking.
