For a family ski trip or a sunny weather getaway, this recently renovated, vacation rental will wow your whole group with amazing mountain views, a huge chef's kitchen, and a spacious great room with a deluxe set-up for entertainment (including surround sound).
Located just blocks away from the popular downtown Government Camp, you'll be able to easily walk to restaurants, shops, and the Summit Ski Area. Mt. Hood Skibowl is just on the other end of town, about a mile from your door. In addition, Timberline Lodge and Mt. Hood Meadows are both within a short drive. In winter, Brooke and Dan's is a great home base for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, or even snowmobiling in the nearby Mt. Hood National Forest lands. In the summertime, the Cascade Mountains offer hiking, biking, and fishing. Most of the ski resorts are covered in wildflowers and have operating chair lifts for scenic rides and hikes down the mountain.
When you enter the main floor of this Mt. Hood retreat, you'll be greeted by the spacious great room. With tall, slanted ceilings, a pellet stove, gleaming hardwood floors, a TV, and lots of space for your whole group to socialize, this may end up being your favorite area of the house. You can come back from a hike and watch a movie - there's Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming, as well as a DVD/Blu-ray player (please provide your own DVDs/Blu-rays). If you want to just unplug and relax, there are plenty of spots to curl up with a good book or take a lazy afternoon nap. At night, you can even view the Skibowl lights from the large picture windows.
When it's time for a meal, head into the full kitchen space for gorgeous granite countertops and all major appliances (including a dishwasher). Create everything from a hearty weekend brunch to a roast chicken dinner. And when it's time to sit down and eat, have everyone gather at the dining table and breakfast bar. In nice, sun-filled weather, head out to the covered deck for an outdoor meal or a barbecue. You'll have a gas grill so you can flip some burgers and chill the beers. There's even a private hot tub!
If you have a larger group, please note that this home can be rented as the five-bedroom Brooke and Dan's Retreat.

Cozy, peaceful, and close to Ski Bowl
The view off the deck or from the entire great room are of snow covered trees . You can hear the creek running while you soak in the hot tub. The bedding is comfy too! The oven and stove cook hot but the 2 right side burners work fine.

This place was perfect for our multi-family mini-vacay!
We shared this home with 1 other family for a 2 night/3 day mini ski vacation. We could have stayed for double that time and STILL not have been ready to go home!
Government still had SOME snow (although not inundated) by the time we arrived in late March. Exploring the whole area was SO much fun... so easy to walk into the village and explore up and through the Glade trail. We felt so free during our free time! And our crew even had an AMAZING blast creating a sled luge on the side of the property! Watch out, Olympic Team! :) And what a TREAT to have a 15 minute drive to and from Mt. Hood Meadows each day. We are from the Portland suburbs, which usually means a 90 minute drive... so this was a perfect vacation near home.
The layout was really convenient for our 2 families. The kitchen was WELL stocked and we weren't short on towels. So much room to play games, gather around the island, and relax when we weren't skiing. We REALLY appreciated little touches... like being able to dry our gear in the dryer downstairs... and the mitten/boot warmer in the foyer. It was wet spring conditions, so our gear would've been really wet without those bonuses!
One "changeable" thing that I would encourage owners to take care of:
The twin bed that is in the "loft" outside the master bedroom was... well... unsleepable. We were going to put our daughter on it, but she sank through the unsupported mattress. We ended up having to move the mattress over to the VERY hard wood-frame futon so she could sleep without getting a bad back! Twin mattresses and box springs aren't TOO expensive... so I would definitely recommend fixing this for future renters (maybe even US again!) :)
Overall, a very memorable, treasured stay... which had a lot to do with great friends and family... but also a lot to do with a great location!

Perfect location for group of 7 of different ages and interests: snowshoeing, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, tubing and just hanging out by the fire reading. Plan to return next year.

Could of been a little better
Great place, other than lot's of dirty dishes, glasses, cereal bowls with dryed oatmeal on them, frying pans all greassy, looked liked someone forgot to clean the dishes and put them back in the the cupboards, the pans looked like someone took a paper towel and tryed to wipe it clean leaving the handels greasy, the stove was dirty and the counter around it had dryed food, when using the the stove, the left side when we turned on the rear bunner on both burners heated up, must bean electrical thing, we washed all the dishes we used before eating off them. the money we spent, thought we wouldn't have this problem.

We loved it!
Brooke and Dan's place was wonderful. Everything we needed to feel right at home, and it was clean and cozy. We had a rule to use the hot tub every day and we did! The kitchen was well stocked, there were plenty of towels and nice bath amenities, plus fun little goodies from the property management company. A particularly nice thing was that there were still plenty of personal, homey touches around the house. So often rental properties become stripped down over time, but Brooke and Dan's home is clearly still a home. We stayed here with our two small children and can confirm that it is a good place for little ones.

Great time
We had the family up at Government Camp for a few days. This is a great spot in the back. Walk right down to the village for meals. Hiked most days. There is an apartment downstairs, but I think it was empty when we were there. Really a great place in Government Camp. We would come back.

It was ok
The location is really neat and the view from the deck is nice. We stayed here with four couples. This house is advertised as housing eight people but it wasn't comfortable. There was a room upstairs but it's a loft that is open so you can hear everything. There is a twin bed right outside the loft. It's a weird setup and would have been better advertised as "sleeps six".The refrigerator doesn't close on its own and there was no gas in the grill. Not too big of a deal. Be careful when booking that you're not using Homeaway, they don't tell you when they are charging an extra 6%, separate from the other booking fees. Vacasa sent me the email with the recommendation that brought me to VRBO. It was all really confusing, I ended up booking through VRBO due to Vacasa using Homeaway and VRBO as advertisers. I would give VRBO one star for using such a deceptive business practice and I'll never use VRBO or Vacsa again.
