Holiday Inn Express Winston Salem Downtown West

The hotel has open holes with exposed wiring near light fixtures in the hallways, uneven carpeting, and is generally gloomy and run-down looking. Our first room had a broken toilet. The second room had cracked tiles in the shower and the adjustable shower head was "fixed" with black electrical tape. The walls are scuffed and marked up. All of the tables and furniture is old and beat up, with many deep gouges and scratches. Overall the room and hotel were very disappointing. Similarly priced hotels in the area have nicer rooms. Our reservation was pre-paid through Orbitz, yet the hotel charged us a second time to our credit card for our stay. Would not stay here again.

Needed a hotel close to medical center. It was perfect. Clean, friendly helpful staff and safe.

I had so much help from the staff they were super nice and the hotel is so nice too they have everything.. Breakfast is top quality they have coffee and tea all day and the room is very comfortable

This Hotel had everything I needed and the location was perfect for my trip.

Proximity to Hospital was ideal. Room was mostly clean - there were a few things overlooked in the bathroom.

This was my third time staying at this hotel . But I am not a totally Happy Grandma this time.market. The rooms are spacious, frigs and microwaves. i l I last reviewedthis hotel and gave the staff an excellent. This time, i was very disappointed. The desk clerks were not cordial at all. When I had a problem getting wi-fi, they did not answer the phone, and when I went to the lobby, gave me no apology.

Stayed here while visiting WFU with my daughter. Very convenient location with easy access to highway, Winston-Salem, and the University. Friendly staff that appeared well managed - refreshing!

Stayed for two nights while interviewing at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Proximity to the hospital was excellent, and there are a few restaurants in walking distance. Nightlife is only a mile or two away. That is the good. The not so good: bed creaked every time I moved, A/C very loud, ran out of coffee in the morning. If I am there again traveling, I will probably pay more to stay in a nicer hotel.

We stayed here due to the close proximity to Wake Forest Medical Center & Med School, which was very convenient. There are good shops and restaurants in the vicinity as well, some within walking distance. Room was clean, staff was very friendly and responsive. Interior could use updated paint, wallpaper and carpet but it appeared that they were in the process of doing this while we were there.

The hotel is located close to a super market, restaurants, and a Whole Foods. The staff was excellent, the room clean, roomy, free wireless, a frig and coffee in your room. Best thing was the included hot breakfast, eggs, pancakes, the whole works. I am going to stay true next time. I came to visit my grand children about a 6 block walk from the hotel. I recommend staying here instead of imposing on family I found out that you can arrange for a airport pickup for $50.00.

At first, I was nervous... our tv didn't work and the room smelled but the staff was wonderful and moved us to a new room immediately. Beds were comfy and the location was excellent!

The hotel meets all requirements for a business traveller. Clean, comfortable and well located near the town center. Recommended.

I was here just to spend the night for work. Everything was good. The staff were very friendly.

Always very clean, comfortable and courteous. Have NEVER had a problem here! This is the only place we stay when we travel to Winston for Dr. visits, and the only place we ever will :) Breakfast is hot and DELICIOUS...and FREE!

We were attending a distributor show

The hotel was efficient and well placed for families who have loved ones in the Wake Forest Baptist hospital. Walking distance of 2 blocks. The motel was well run and clean. Breakfast was typical and nice.

This hotel is a GREAT value for what you get -- we stayed just one night while we were visiting the historic area of Winston Salem. It was a very clean hotel and the staff was absolutely delightful. There was also a very nice breakfast the next morning - nothing over the top, just a standard continental breakfast. It was well worth the price and I felt we definitely got our money's worth. It's very close to Winston Salem Historic District -- and make sure you visit -- it's adorable!

old hotel with a bad HIX facelift

Claen room, competent staff, as expected for a Holiday Inn.
