Good location but …
Friendly helpful folks at front desk but rooms need attention. Little things- receptacles not plugged in, shower curtain won’t stay closed, platform under bed sticks out too far in room. Rooms are really dated. However rooms are clean and bed are comfortable. Breakfast needs better organizing. We weren’t told a hot breakfast could be ordered. 8:30 continental breakfast out of food

The hotel is well kept and service excellent. The continental breakfast is very average and never changes. The absence of any dining facility or food sold on site is very problematic and could be fixed by selling frozen dishes for warm up in microwave. The hotel otherwise is exemplary and the above issues might not be a problem for people with an automobile.

Place is great but not the free breakfast
Everything was great, beds comfortable, shower was great, price was great. The free breakfast isn’t great, basically a bagel/muffin and a piece of fruit with coffee or another drink. The location is pretty great too. Walking distance to places to eat, visitor center, walking path and Old Salem is very close.

In the center
My hotel stay was for business and unfortunately I left earlier than expected even though room had been paid in advance. I wasn't aware that breakfast didn't consist of anything than bagels and orange juice, apples and oranges. I thought it was a hot breakfast!!:( Anyway the location is great and walking distance to my business location. I had the choice to stay at any hotel but did choose Hawthorne because of a previous Hawthorn stay in Concord which was outstanding! No harm no foul and would recommend to anyone who's on a budget and wants a great comfortable location.

Very clean, convenient location off the highway, and friendly, helpful staff at the front desk. We checked in late, so we didn’t get to explore the surrounding area. The king size room was an impressive sized room, too!! And we could have our pet for a $50 fee…
