Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Twentynine Palms

Excellent hotel.

We were planning a 1 night stay and decided to turn it into 3 because of the hotel, area and Joshua Tree National park. The hotel is very clean and the breakfast was great. I wish we could take this place to our next stop. You can’t beat the price either. It’s so hard to find a great hotel for a very reasonable price.Thank you to the staff for taking such great care of us.

Harmony Motel

A charming surprise in the desert

This small, clean, friendly hotel in a beautiful setting is perfect place to start your exploration of Joshua Treee National Park. Only a 5 minute drive to the northern entrance of the park, and to the 3 mi. roundtrip trail leading to 49 Palms Oasis. (An easy , beautiful hike, I highly recommend). Our room was spacious, clean, very private and quiet, with a full kitchen(!) and a little patio with 2 chairs and a table to drink your coffee and watch the sunrise. The yard is a desert paradise, artistically appointed by many different flowering cactuses and plants, has a real Southwest feel. The pool is very clean(not heated), the hot tub is great, but beware, it is operating between 5-19 PM only.Really good to soak in there after a day hike. It is truly a place home away from home, perhaps because it is a small, privately owned motel, and the owner takes great care of and great pride in this little treasure. Go there! You will love it.

Americas Best Value Inn - Joshua Tree/29 Palms

Basic motel close to Joshua Tree

I chose this motel on a recent trip to Joshua Tree because of price ($109/ night) and proximity to Joshua tree. My friends were camping inside the park and each day it was about a half hour drive to join them at the Ryan campgrounds. Check in is at the somewhat nicer hotel next door. They tell you this is due to a remodel of the lobby, but looking at past reviews it seems this remodel has been going on for years so I would say this will be the situation indefinitely. Breakfast is also at the hotel next door. All I saw was dry cereal. Coffee dispenser was empty and I couldn’t find anyone to refill it so I ended up just grabbing coffee at the nearby Burger King on my way to the park. Motel has a small unheated pool. Also a coin operated laundry room is available for guests. Door locks are a little touchy. You have to swipe your key very slowly and from the top only in order for it to work and unlock the door. The room I found to be reasonably clean and comfortable. The small kitchen area was very useful and had a fridge, microwave and small sink area. I had brought food with me from LA but on arriving realized there is actually a large grocery store next door to the motel called Stater Brothers. Probably the biggest downside to this place is the noise. Being from mid city Los Angeles I didn’t think I would be bothered, but the noise from the struggling heating and air conditioning unit as well as parking lot/ highway noise did wake me up quite a few times.
