Let me start by saying I normally only write reviews when I am happy with a hotel or restaurant, and I let it go when I'm not happy with a place. But I am so unhappy with our stay here for many reasons. It started with an unexpected $50 fee because we have a 14-pound dog with us. When you look at the photos of the carpet and kitchen floors here, you have to hope that they are saving up these $50 fees to shampoo the carpet and replace the floors - so dirty! Then, there was a private family gathering in the public area, so we couldn't use it. And there is no breakfast at all - not even coffee ready and available for guests, and not even continental breakfast items! There is no pool, just a hot tub. I booked this place because there were so many high reviews (and many people saying it is clean!) and you can see from my photos this place is not clean. Maybe some of the rooms are better than others, I have no idea. But I would never, ever stay here again and I would never recommend this place to anyone else. I don't understand why there are so many high reviews. We did make complaints about these issues but nothing was made right, just "sorry".
We were on a planned-from-home road trip and were attracted to the 'Wild West' appearance of this little gem. We found very friendly and helpful hosting there and a suite which was really a complete apartment with a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 toilets - really a great place to stay on the edge of the desert and a trip to Joshua Tree National Park. Our host suggested going for a night of stargazing with amateur astronomers at the Sky's The Limit Observatory near the entry to the park - we did and it was a great experience!
We stayed one night and were blown away by this hotel. It's twenty-one palms so it's hot, but this place was as cool as it gets. The decorations were unique and there were plenty of play ground equipment and space to play. Could easily see this as a weekend family get away or college vacation to the desert to enjoy a quant and quiet setting around the firepit. All rooms came with a full kitchen so cooking is easy. Loved this place and the hospitality that came with it.
The service was great with friendly, hospitable staff! Check in by 3pm and checkout by 11am - but you can call them the morning of your check in date to see if your room can be available earlier. Parking was easy, there was some covered/shaded spots and unshaded spots that were along the suites. Housekeeping comes around in the afternoon and the rooms have "do not disturb" and "housekeeping" signs that you can use. I stayed in a Junior Suite and it was very homey! The room had great air conditioning, blackout curtains, and was very spacious for two adults. There is free wifi and my room had a limit of 4 devices that could be logged in at the same time. This location is great for those visiting the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in 29 Palms (the base is a short drive away, hint: the address 4574 Palm Dale Road took me straight to the Main Gate Entrance on Adobe Road). I had a very pleasant stay and I definitely plan on staying here again next time!
This is an older property. The rooms are mostly separate little cottages. Everyone one seems different.. Our room was definitely dated from the 60s. The bed was comfortable. We had a gas grill outside, but I didn't check it for usability.
This was a nice place, well maintained and quite close to the Joshua tree park. Good restaurants nearby. Quiet place. Manager was very friendly. Kitchen has the most basic items, but the grocery is 10 min drive away
Our travel plan was a road trip from San Diego to visit Joshua Tree National Park, 4 days total. I found Sunnyvale Garden Suites (SGS) online and thought it was a great unique place to try. Huge benefit was location. It’s off the main part of town which was very quiet. Close to the West entrance to the park which was much less used. The SGS offered many options for rooms. We chose a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath unit. The hotel manager Mary was most helpful to get us in #8 an upstairs unit. Great size for 4 adults and each evening we enjoyed happy hour on our large balcony. The kitchen was very adequate for cooking and a BBQ was available but it was downstairs, probably a safety issue? The only thing lacking in the kitchen were towels or paper towels. Good thing we prepare for about any situation and had brought along 2 kitchen towels. Beds were comfortable as we all slept well. There is a swamp cooler in the unit that we only needed for a short time after returning from our days in the park. Temps were in 80’s days and cooled off nicely at sundown. We would stay there again.
We wanted to stay away from the regular motel/hotel chains and gave Sunnyvale a try. It is located in a quiet residential area, in walking distance from the village center. It is dated but the condo room was large and had a kitchen part if one would like to cook. BBQ was available outside the room. Wifi worked fine. The only drawback was the nonexisting soundproofing from the unit above. We could hear everything the guests did and said. We had a decent stay.
This is not a high-class place and is in a quiet residential neighborhood. It has a lovely, step-free walkway around the buildings. Our place had updated kitchen and bath and a small patio with BBQ. The kitchen had dishes, glasses, silverware and some pots and pans, coffee pot and toaster, salt and pepper, dishwashing liquid. Two containers on the bathtub wall dispensed shampoo and body wash (reducing plastic use of individual-size supplies). The heater worked fine during the early Spring cold nights. We were facing the kid playground (swings, slide) but that was not a problem at all. Hummingbird feeders throughout the property, and a hummingbird nest right outside our living room window, with mama hummingbird sitting on her eggs! The place was well-kept, quiet except for one short incident in the middle of the night (not the hotel's fault). I would stay there again.
We had a somewhat disappointing experience. It was located in an untidy residential neighborhood. The hotel had been a condo complex. The partitions were poorly done. Late night in the bedroom we could hear loud TV & talk next door as if they were in our room. We ended up sleeping in the living room. We had only one coat hanger in the closets. There were two small bars of soup but no shampoo. Bring some salt, pepper & oil if you plan to do some cooking. The only consumable supplied was dish detergent. No paper towel. Bad coffee( not unexpected). The Stater supermarket was on the main drag 3 miles west from the hotel.
