Stayed here 2 nights for business. Very clean. Nice room with kitchenette. Full size fridge. The biggest negative was the beds. Way too soft. Couldn’t sleep and made my back hurt. No breakfast but close to numerous breakfast options. If u like really soft mattresses this is the place for you. I booked through ihg rewards.

I have read several reviews with complaints about desk service, but what I experienced was far from that. Desk staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms were about what one would expect. They were clean and had a comfortable bed. We enjoyed our stay and will stay here again if the need arises

The room is decent, the amenities are average as are all candlewoods. The thing that really bursts my bubble is the IHG internet policy, and its fevered pace to ban you from using certain chat messenger systems. I can watch YouTube and Netflix all I want, but chat on battle.net ... DENIED BLOCKED GONE ! I hate this rules, and really IHG should change their policy. I wrote this review just so I don't forget to stay somewhere else next time.

I should have known better when I saw what a good rate it was. Not knowing the Tuscaloosa area well enough, I didn't realize that the hotel wasn't in a great area. The photos of the hotel don't tell the real story. When we arrived, there was no clerk at the reservation desk, nor did anyone show up for at least 5 minutes. There was no bell to ring and no way to contact anyone. So we politely yelled for help. Finally someone appeared from behind a doorway down a hall. When she walked in, she offered no apologies and no explanation. She asked for my name, typed in the information, handed me the key and told me where the room was. She never cracked a smile. She didn't say thank you or have a nice evening or anything. Horrible. The room they gave me was a handicapped accessible room, which was okay; it was bigger than a regular room. But the bathroom sink was attached to the wall with thick brown putty and looked like it would fall off if you leaned on it too hard. You could see the pvc pipes underneath -- some of which had been broken off and others reattached at weird places. The room seemed clean, but I just felt weird about it. The walls were very thin; I could hear everything going on in the room next to me and above me until the wee hours of the morning. There were magnets on the inside of the doors that said "busy busy busy" and "no thank you, not now", in case you wanted to put them on the outside of your door. I don't believe I would recommend the hotel or stay there again.

This should be a 5 star review as this hotel is really great. Very clean, funky design, beautiful rooms, plenty of amenities, etc. The only thing that brings this to a 4 star review is the restaurant staff. We had two very bad service experiences in the restaurant during our stay. The staff was not rude but they were not trained well and really seemed lost with very ordinary service requests. The front desk however had great service and the hotel as a whole was really great. We will stay again and next time we will just eat somewhere else.

Room: Room was good size. Very clean. The kitchen was small but reasonably well appointed. Bathroom was not huge but certainly comfortable. I think a one to two week stay at Candlewood would be no problem. Ambiance: Not fancy. Lobby is small. Very functional. Candlewood gets extra stars because of the front desk staff. A helpful friendly crew that always had a sincere and warm welcome. Location: Not great. Just off the freeway. Sort of a commercial area. Not really much to see or anything within walking distance. But all of Tuscaloosa and the University is a 10-15 minute drive. Price: Very good value most of the time I suspect. We were in town for a football game so the rate was through the roof. But all the hotels in town raise their prices on for game weekends. I cannot fault them for that. I’d return to the Candlewood without question.

After leaving a disgusting motel close by, we found this location. Pet-friendly options are limited in this area and there is an additional $75 pet fee, but it was worth it for a clean room, friendly staff - especially Kim!! - and feeling safe. The rooms are very well laid out, the bathroom is roomy, and it smelled fresh and clean. Highly recommend!

Good quality pet-friendly hotel options are few and far between, which means evacuees from hurricanes sometimes can find themselves far away from home. That was the case with us when Hurricane Irma sent us on the road from our new home in SW Florida to Tuscaloosa and the Candlewood Suites. In the several days that we lived at Candlewood, we found it to be clean and accommodating. The bed was of standard sleep quality, and a small work area and lounger helped make the room more livable. The kitchenette was of good size and scope, supported by a lobby food canteen that was surprisingly well-stocked across all meals. Another pleasant surprise was a laundry that was free to guests, and that shared space with a basic fitness room. We were very impressed with the service attitude of the staff, who were dealing with a sold-out property and, as it turned out, a number of anxious hurricane exiles and their pets and belongings. Staff were welcoming and supportive, and Candace in particular shined in her warmth and empathy. We particularly appreciated Candace making a room change for us when our first night was marred by a poorly-sealed connecting door with late-night TV viewers in the next room. In fact, this facility and design fault (where TVs are inexplicably set right next to the connecting doors) is the only reason we can't rate our stay a "5". The hotel's general manager has obviously assembled a solid and welcoming staff. Indeed, we were impressed by the general friendliness of the people of Tuscaloosa. While we would have preferred other circumstances to make a maiden visit to the city, we agreed that we had picked a good town, and hotel, to weather the storm. We'd happily return to both.

Its a nice hotel the people are nice especially candace and they are pet freindly. Its not loud its really quiet and there is a pool out back that they share with the other hotel because thay are so nice if you were looking for a place to stay with your pets and family this would be the place

Stayed here for two nights and found the hotel very clean and quiet. I booked a studio which I expected to be a tiny room but was pleasantly surprised when I walked into a large, comfortable room with a kitchen. The staff is courteous and helpful. Excellent customer service from Raven at check in (thanks for your kindness) and Candace at checkout. Since my daughter will be attending school in Tuscaloosa, I will be sure to stay at Candlewood Suites whenever I return.
