I talked to three different employees our first night to try and get the outdoor fire pit lit to no avail. Our 2nd night they tried to light it but couldn’t figure out how to keep it lit. The slightest breeze blew part of it out so propane was just leaking out. Also had the worst meal from the on site restaurant. The lasagna was bad, I had to throw it away and it wasn’t cheap.

Red Sands has been modernized since my last stay and is better for it. However, there is more competition in Torrey for higher end accommodation. The big let-down at Red Sands was the paid breakfast. It was expensive at around $25 each and we both rated it as poor. We were both served a large portion of hash browns that were running in oil, not crispy and it was inedible. Not what I expect for $25.

Great place for Capitol Reef NP

Great hotel - clean and comfy beds. Very close to Capitol Reef National Park. Great coffee bar - pool is great (although a bit cold for March)

We loved the area. It's beautiful. I enjoyed the spa services. The observation deck for Star Watching was nice. It just needs to be darker. But the few lights are needed for safety. The only problems were pretty small. For instance that the wallpaper was peeling off the walls in a few areas of the room. The hair dryer was useless, and the microwave buttons were in a different language ( not Spanish or English) Other than that we loved it and was worth the price.

I don’t have enough space to even summarize all the complaints I sent to Red Sands in a letter. The hot water from the shower was quite literally dangerous. It was scalding hot. Parents of small children should beware. The food was horrible, apparently cooked well ahead of time and then barely warmed up. The jets in the hot tub have apparently not been working for at least two months. Housekeeping apparently attempted to make up our room at 7:30 while we were at breakfast and declined to do so because our day packs were on our beds. After breakfast, before we left for a day of hiking, we put the sign for housekeeping on the door. When we inquired upon our return why nothing was done we were told we missed our chance at 7:30, an hour at which some guests might still be sleeping.

Hopefully an off day in the off season (Feb)

The property was very nice and the service was great, and the room was comfortable and quiet. The listing, the emails, and lit sign out front said the restaurant was open for dinner; it was closed. Evidently that was just as well as my wife described the breakfast next morning with oil soaked soggy hash browns as dreadful, inedible and possibly the worst she's had in fifty years.

Great night at Red Sands.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel has been updated fully and is gorgeous. You can walk indoors to the associated restaurant which had delicious fair and great service. The pool and hot tub are lovely.

Rooms are okay but the service is terrible. The restaurant ruined our entire trip. We waited for over 30 mins and then were told that our food order would arrive quicker if we ordered to-go. We went ahead and did that, only to wait another 45 mins. People who got seated after we placed our to-go order received their food before us! The servers were least bothered and didn’t even make an effort to apologize. The food was also below average and cost $56 for a burger, a stuffed mushroom appetizer, and a wonton appetizer. Go to Subway!

After living in huge hotel rooms this experience will just blow your mind on how amazing it feels to stay here in such a small place but will all the amenities that you get in a hotel room. I will let the photos do the justice to this review. Amazing stay and experience and I recommend this 10/10

Solid, clean option in Torrey

Solid option in Torrey, especially since there are not many options. Super clean and well maintained. It was great to have the attached restaurant as we were there in January. Room was reasonably equipped but missing a second chair (only one for desk). Would consider again.
