SHIBUYA HOTEL EN

3.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Room is tiny, but that is standard for Tokyo. They make good use of the space and this was the most comfortable bed we had on our whole trip. While the little breakfast wasn't much, it was great to have in the morning to tie you over. Don't expect to check in even a minute early, like most Japanese hotels, you can only check in at the exact time.

Shibuya En was very nice. We had much more room than in the other two hotels we stayed in during our trip. The bigger beds were wonderful! We were on the second floor, by request, and it was super fun! The staff was great, very helpful. But we did not love the area. A little seedy, frankly. There is a lot of shopping and sights in the Shibuya area. This hotel is close to the station - but do NOT try to lug big (or even small) luggage in this area. But there are a lot of bars surrounding. Our last night, being a Friday night, was ridiculously noisy. Realized as we were leaving for our flight to go home Saturday morning that there was a bar across the street with their windows wide open. That was the source of the noise all night - and they were still going strong. I didn't enjoy the restaurant just across the street but there was another a couple of blocks away that was wonderful and I wish I knew the name - on the receipt, it translated by Google to Chinese Ramen, I believe (it was across the street from an Outback).

We chose Shibuya Hotel En as it was a small boutique hotel close to the train station, lucky we had Google Maps as it was tricky to find! We had a small, but comfortable room on the 8th floor. Each floor landing is decorated differently, ours was a forest theme (somewhat odd!). The bed was comfortable, the shower room good although nowhere to hang any clothes. There is no bar or restaurant but plenty close by and only a basic breakfast - coffee (which was awful!) and croissants (which were delicious!). The reception recommended the restaurant next door (Bistro 35) - we made reservations and what a find it was, Japanese tapas and from reading the reviews we were not disappointed - go there, you will love it!

This hotel was reasonably priced for the location. Includes everything you need (clean, up to date, water included). The staff are friendly and accommodating. The room is very small (which makes sense in Tokyo) and if you are travelling with friends you may find the clear bathroom uncomfortable (as mentioned in other reviews). While there are curtains it may still be a little awkward. As a couple it wasn't issue, however I did find it added a clinical feel to the room which wasn't the best. We found the mattress to be too firm for our tastes and it did give both my partner and me sore backs. If you prefer a firmer mattress this may be great. Being in Shibuya the location is great, and the part of Shibuya it is in is nice. There are loads of food options and it is just the right amount away from the crazy Shibuya crossing. On the downside it is quite a walk (just under ten mins) to the train station. There were no laundry facilities and there is no wash and fold within walking distance. There is a coin laundry nearby. I would stay here again, however would prefer something closer to a station (even if it meant being in a less popular spot i.e. outside of Shibuya).

Perfect location in Shibuya. Friendly and English speaking staff. Room was small but most places are in such an ideal location. Breakfast was included at no charge- coffee, toast, pastries etc. room was cleaned daily. Great ramen spot just across the road that is open until 4am. We really did enjoy the location! Each floor has a quirky decor. Would definitely stay again!

I stayed here for two nights on business. The room was comfortable, clean, stylish and had everything I needed. the staff was friendly and accommodating and spoke English well. Plenty of shops and restaurants are nearby. One FYI - breakfast is only pastries and tea/coffee. There are McDonalds and Starbucks nearby if you need something more.

We stayed here for three nights and its location is brilliant. After spending only 10 days in Tokyo as a tourist, Shibuya is the part to stay in. The hotel was nice, offered a free breakfast but foremost - the staff was brilliant and very service orientated. Booked an Executive room and to my surprise it has a massage Chair. The only downside... it was difficult to find. The entrance is Cool but very anonymous. So we walked by it. GPS does not work very well due to it comes in ”shadow mode” at the narrow alleys. It is a short walking distance from the Metro station, Starbucks, Tully’s and a load of rock clubs! Highly recommend this hotel.

*Location 3/5 In the thick Shibuya district but 10/15 minute walk from nearest train. Right next to the Love Hotel district which makes for a interesting nighttime walk but felt safe. *Quality 3/5 Compact and basic but modern room. *Value for Money 3/5 In keeping with hotels of similar standard and area. We were given a voucher for a free drink at the bar downstairs which was appreciated. Recommendation: the hole in the wall isakaya directly opposite the hotel entrance is friendly and fun and the nearby restaurant Dogen offers a fantastic authentic bbq steak experience

Well remodeled hotel near the center of Shibuya! It almost look like an old apartment complex that was converted into a boutique hotel and they did a lot to make the small space feel modern. Yes, the shower / bathroom are all windows which gives it a modern feel and makes the small space look bigger at the same time. Don't worry there are curtains if you want privacy. The whole room has everything put away to conserve space. Yes, the hallways are decorated differently on each floor. Toto bathroom was top of the line. The bathroom had some motion detection that gets the everything ready for you as soon as you walk near it. Smell? none. Poo? gone. Seat? Warm. I will buy that bathroom one day. Bed was comfortable. They are proud of it that they have paperwork talking about who made it. Finally a hotel that offers decent speed wifi. 50mbps. It's not fast, but most hotels get tourists downloading movies all day killing internet for the rest. The service was superb. Was about to buy an umbrella. Then the worker said don't buy one, and handed one to borrow for free. Location? Literally go outside and you are next to a TON of food choices and even night clubs and stores. It's a very good location if you want to be in the middle of action. The constant load of people does get tiring though. Price is great if you keep an eye out on the room rate. The price fluctuated a lot. I recommend booking a cancellable room. I was able to book for about $150/night. The price kept fluctuating between $150-250. Was able to hear a lot of noise outside. People slamming the doors or just stomping on the floor above. Not sure where it was coming from but people are quiet after 10pmish. The front door when entering was VERY heavy. Like many Japanese hotels, you need to turn in your key before leaving. This feels secure and not secure at the same time. You don't have to worry about someone stealing your keys and going to your room, but at the same time, the workers can just hand your keys to someone random. Overall, this place offers great value for a unique stay.

Location - really good location, near to a lot of restaurants and walking distance to Shibuya crossing and Train. What I want to highlight is the Staff! I left my wallet at the Safe and they were so efficient and nice to handle the shipping back to Singapore. I got my wallet and money - all intact - an in just 5 days. thank you for ensuring I get it back. they even included a thoughtful note, special mention to Sawaya from the front desk. Thank you!
