I stayed there for one night and found it to be a nice hotel, clean and great staff. Could do with a spruce in the near future as it looks and smells a little tired. Overall very comfortable. Dinner meals aren't anything to write home about but OK if you don't feel like venturing out.
We stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights, the room is very clean and within acceptable price. The place is cozy, the breakfast included was great , the places we visited is within short distance from the hotel. The only problem I encountered was that there's only few choices for the night room service menu. Otherwise,it's a great hotel to stay in North Sydney
Our harbour view room had a great view and parking was fine. Sad to see you could not get a coffee until 5:30 and was told there was no kids menu available and there would be be no diversions from pre made pizzas. The beds were comfortable but the room was very tired. The food and beverage and room quality was what predominantly what let our stay down. Expensive meals were not as described on the menu and overall very poor quality. Our heating did not work and the fan in the bathroom blew like a jet engine all night. The lock on our 9th floor balcony was jammed/bent meaning the door could not lock (not ideal with kids) We could have stayed anywhere for our 'mini holiday' but decided on Rydges as I thought it was a reputable brand and the it appeared good value. We were refunded both nights of room service which made us a little happier and were grateful for. Unfortunately I can't see myself returning to Rydges North Sydney and will think twice about the brand altogether.
Very spacious two bedroom apartment for families. Within walking distance to trains. Nice Cafes in local area. If staying more than 1 night you can opt out of housekeeping and make your own bed, as a reward you get $10 food/beverage voucher. Friendly efficient staff. Affordable rates. Offer free wifi which is a definite positive! Would not bother with Buffett breakfast as it's overpriced and not much to offer. There is a great little cafe up the road called Sotto on west, very nice.
Well to say that you would feel pampered, cared for or relaxed after your check in is a very big stretch. First off.. reception staff could benefit from a hard sell moment of which was not explained clearly being sold previously as travelling is but a draining event for most. The weary traveller must be moments away from a hot shower, room service and his priceless quiet of his un interupted thoughts but when he gets up to his 6th floor room that the 2 mag strip keycards can not open the room door and this is after you found the driveway .. (i....inhale deep breath. .) For me, not clearly seen was the signage and I drove past twice. Feeling stupid now as it never happens. Bob the builder in the next block had me nervous as he is committed to the high rise beginning next door but no noise did bother me in the end. Gardens and driveways look tired and the carpark was adequately accommodating however you are warned of the cars being thieved so leave nothing if value in sight. The room was not the right size as ordered online and it only got better when picking up the menu for an appetite to sort I was dutifully told I was reading a menu no longer in use. I always thought the customer was alright right but not yours truly. What felt like combative staff over the phone to sort upgrading of the room size ( none available ) the wrong menu (had home made toasties )and a little piece of Nirvana i could call my own ... base camp BUT!! .. .. it seemed like Kurt Cobain himself and his band had been guests there on the same day as the carpet would cover blood stained sweat tears and looked dirty and good for getting yer freak on. Best View from ours to the next office block. Air conditioner was as new feeling and relieved it was strong and indulgence begins. You might get what u pay for in life but enjoying the level of service is all in how you approach your holiday. I give it 2 stars out of 5 stars only because it's in need of being reborn. No doubt that a modern one will take its place in near future. Staff need not fly onto selling at check in. No info re: directions to room or garage underground and asking them to help with upgraded room stats was not in my cards. Now no valets or nil bellboys and no balcony for us anywhere. ... still had a great stay in the heart of the city of Sydney ! 15 mins to anywhere from here. North Sydney is beautifully kept and train bus taxi walking all at your command Thanks Rydges
This was my first time here but not the last. It's in a lovely garden setting inside the North Sydney high rise wind tunnel and the room was apartment style with kitchen and lounge. Very clean and comfortable even though it's been around for a while. I had a corner room so views over the harbour as well as to the north. Very nice. Rydges has good ambience and the staff were friendly and professional.
If you have to worry about parking and wanting to visit the Luna Park and the Taronga Zoo, this hotel would be a very good choice. Moreover, shops are only a few minutes away. The apartment we stayed in was spacious, clean and tidy. The city view was nice too. All amenities were functional. The additional portable air-con unit cast doubt on whether the wall mounted air-con was working. We found that we did have to keep the portable unit on to keep the temperature cool enough. Wifi bandwidth was sufficient to share between 3 different devices but none of us was watching Netflix. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. I had to make a last minute change to my booking and the staff tactfully helped me to ensure we got a place to stay. I would definitely consider staying again.
Hotel staff were accommodating however the room we stayed in is very dated, particularly the bathroom. Air con is quite noisy and the noise from connecting rooms is heard easily. I would only recommend for short visits ie. 1 nighters.
I travel constantly for work so have stayed in many hotel from 5 star to regional motels. I don't have a problem with basic hotels as long as they are clean and comfortable. This is one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. Given everyone is time poor I will do a quick dot point recap of my 3 day experience of the hotel 1. Doesn't match the label, this hotel promotes as a 4 star , 2 star is more accurate. I'm ok with 2 star if that what is advertised and that's what you pay for. 2. First room I was checked into bedroom light didn't work and aircon and bathroom vent sounded like a motor mower , move rooms and again aircon is so loud you can't possibly sleep with it on 3. The walls are paper thin and I can hear the guy next door sneeze and talk quietly on the phone 4. Hair blow dryer is from the 1980 and unless you have 2 hours it will not dry your hair I went to a work appoint,net with wet hair as a result. 5. Ordered the $23+4 tray charge room service chicken avo club .... comes 25 mins later with no avocado. 6. Tv sounds drops in and out Terrible.... this is why AirBNb is so popular and have no doubt this hotel won't exist in 5 years time , I think the only reason it still exists is because there are only a few options in North Sydney , my advice either stay in the CBD instead of staying here
just awful, came with work and stayed for nights, head every word and cough from the adjacent room as the door was next to the bed, the $43 'fillet' steak was like leather, when I called room service to collect it they were really rude asking 'what exactly was wrong with the food' the person who delivered the food was wearing filthy clothes - I could go on. For $300 you could stay in infinitely better places, do yourself a favour and avoid this place
