The best thing about this hotel is the view from the higher floors - we had room 2312 and 2512 on two separate stays - full view of bridge and opera house. The rooms are “tired” and in need of modernization. You are paying the premium for the view. Room 2512 had specific repairs needed-rip in window seat, leaky shower and crack in shower floor-tacky and unacceptable for the prices charged. Check-in for the second stay took about 45 minutes due to issues with credit card terminals, all we got was an apology at the desk no follow up or offer for any compensation for the inconvenience. We made one local phone call from the room (restaurant reservation) and were billed $2.40 for it, at $850 a night for a room, we found this offensive. On our first stay, the hotel tried to “sell” us the daily breakfast at a discounted rate of $49 p/p (vs $57 p/p), however, if you signed up, you had to use it for your entire stay, it was not just charged on use. Fortunately we heard another guests comments about this and opted out. We had breakfast twice during our 10-day stay, and again, while a nice set-up, the view from the 36th floor was the most memorable part. Overall, we were happy to enjoy the room view, but wished we had stayed elsewhere on the second stay. We would recommend a stay of 1-2 nights max to enjoy the view, and then move to a better location with more modern rooms and amenities. Personally, if we are ever back in Sydney, we would stay elsewhere!
