Friendly staff and travellers, very good location and enjoyed the free breakfast - saved me buying breakfast. The building is old and a few things don't work BUT its one of the cheapest hostels in Sydney and its relatively clean and safe. So worth staying if you are on budget and can do without all exctras.

A LARGE HOSTEL LOCATED MOMENTS AWAY FROM SOME OF SYDNEY'S MOST FAMOUS BUILDINGS ,STRUCTURES GARDENS & PARKS.IT HAS MORE THAN ADEQUATE COOKING Facilities & Fridges, A Large dining area. A cosy TV Room with FOXTEL & plenty of powerpoints. .FREE WI-FI.Clean rooms with comfortable bunk beds.Clean linen available .24/7 Reception, a friendly Manager who resolves any problems in a timely manner,Secure lockers available. A good laundry facility on premises and luggage storage.

The facility is old and shows it. That was expected and is part of its charm. Even though old, the room was comfortable and clean. The desk staff were extremely courteous to us and very helpful. It was a great location for visiting the city and inexpensive compared to other hotels in the center of Sydney. We were pleased.

I was in the beginning of my backpack adventure so I let on too much, also because I met decent people there. But This hostel was the worst. Staff were only made of volunteers and exploited. I remember of the bedbugs, the unfresh building, dirty carpets. The repairman pretended a bedbug cleaning to break the padlocks and steal some materials from the lockers. This was agreed by the manager. Don't go there !

This hostel does not look like much from the outside, but on the inside, it is a good place. The location is awesome although in a quiet part of town, easily accessible to places where the actions is. The room I was in was large and spacious. I would recommend this place, and if staying on a weekend, book ahead as it fills up. Only issue I had was with the WIFI – slow at times and not accessible in room.

The place is okay for a low budget, short stay in the city, but it lacks atmosphere, and the kitchen facilities are pretty mediocre. The place was clean enough, and the rooms were cleaned every day, and many of the staff were clearly in training so it always took a while to speak to anyone. A breakfast is served daily which was good. Don't expect anything too fancy, but it does the job for a couple nights stay.

Amazing location for the $$! Really enjoyed my stay, met pleasant people from all over the globe. Great walking distance to just about anything you can think of, plus shopping, grocery, bars, etc.! Only complaint was that the building is old... Still can't believe it is right across from the City, awesome.

I couldn't have imagined this much good accommodation at an amazing price. Good staff, cleanliness, and room up gradation was the best part. And everything is so near to the accommodation like city, harbor bridge. I had a really good stay in Elephant.

the rooms were not clean and the wifi didn't work most of the timey By the time we arrived 9pm they had no bedsheets for us and we had to come back later. breakfast was good and the location was good - about 20 min walk go opera house.

This hostel has some of the worst reviews I've seen but if you get the memo "you get what you pay for" the hostel is not that bad. Yep - its old and not everything works but they do clean showers, toilets and kitchen constantly it's just that its a big hostel with 200+ peeps so they make heaps of mess and its a constant battle! My room was clean and I stayed in an 8 bed dorm - after a week I had to take everything downstairs cause it was being "deep cleaned" which was a pain - but cont complain about cleaning. There is a free breakfast which is basic - coffee & toast and sugary cereal but thats ok :). Location is great all walking distance to town centre. So given price I was totally happy with hostel and wld stay again.
