The king bed room is very roomy. Nice to have a refrigerator & microwave. The continental breakfast and free WiFi were very nice! Within easy walking distance to the Lincoln Presidential Museum & Library. Just a heads up, although it did not present ANY issues, there is a soup kitchen just behind the hotel and there were several people panhandling nearby.

My hubby and I had to stay here the night before I had to have surgery at St, John's hospital. It was very close to the hospital so it was very convenient. The bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom were good size. We also had a microwave and a refrigerator in our room. There is a free breakfast which has nice options on it. There is also a shuttle that will take you to the hospital or other close local places including restaurants. Here is what amazed me the most. My husband and I were on our way home (we live 2 1/2 hours away) and he realized his wedding band was not on his finger. He thought he lost it at a gas station while drying his hands so he called and they could not find it. Later that day I had a call from the hotel and they told me that the housekeeper cleaning the room found a gold wedding band. I was so happy that they had found it. It's so nice to know that there is still honest people in this world. We would stay here again in a heart beat. Thank you to the great staff.

My husband and I stayed here when we visited Springfield recently. We traveled via Amtrak from Chicago. The hotel is within walking distance from the train station, but they also have a shuttle that will take you anywhere you want to go within five miles. What a boon! The drivers, Sara and Laly(not sure if I'm spelling their names correctly)are great! They took us to and from the hotel to the train station as well as to and from the area where many of historical sites are. They are friendly and efficient. Both people at the front desk, Korissa and Robbert, were helpful and hospitable. Our room was comfortable. There is free WiFi. My husband really liked the pillows. The breakfast was fine, too. The only things that I didn't like--and I am nit-picking here--were the orange juice(seemed watered down)and the peaches. Overall, it's a wonderful hotel at a great price. We would not hesitate to stay there again and to recommend it to friends traveling in the area.

We just finished a three night stay. We had taken the train from Chicago to visit the Lincoln Museum and other attractions. Our hotel stay was wonderful. The room was clean, ventilation worked well. We used the refrigerator during our stay. The breakfasts were simple yet had a good variety, changing each day. Our favorite part was the shuttle, which we used extensively. Everyone was helpful, and just a pleasure to talk to. If we return to Springfield, we would not hesitate to use this fine hotel.

I loved staying at the Carpenter St. Hotel! The staff couldn't have been any friendlier and complimentary. I am from PA so I was tired from traveling so they let me check in early(once my room was cleaned) because they made it a priority. They shuttled me to and from the ice rink with no charge. The rooms are clean, spacious, and well taken care of with a beautiful view of downtown springfield! They were helpful when buying tickets and giving me ideas on things to do while I was in town. Breakfast was awesome! I enjoyed my stay very much-highly recommended!

Luckily we were only here for about 12 hours as the hotel felt rundown and dirty. There were stains all over the chairs in our room, not to mention dirty air vents and a bathroom on the brink of collapse (the shower sprayed everywhere). The breakfast was pieces of bread and packets of spread, and at all times we could see into the managers office with people sitting around and chatting without doing much, which shows in the hotel. The elevator also just reluctantly chugs along. The location is amazing and it’s fine for a night, but you can’t help but feel dirty inside.

The hotel is 2 blocks from the Lincoln Library and Museum. And less than 10 minute walk to the center of town. The capital is walkable too. Clean, comfortable room. Normal breakfast included. Great cookies. Very friendly staff. Free parking. We'll be back.

I worked 3p to 7a and had to be back at 7p again. I live out of town, and I was soooo tired. Xavier saved the day once again for me and was able to get me a room. This place is fantastic!!! I so much appreciate all of them. The place was quiet and spotless.

This hotel is only two blocks walking distance from the Lincoln Museum and Library, and close to area hospitals. Clean, spacious rooms. Simple but basic and a very good value. If you are a busy tourist, you won't need or expect a pool, exercise room, etc. This hotel does have a coin operated laundry, should you need that for an extended stay. Purchase discounted tickets to Lincoln Museum at the desk.

Stayed here 1 night on a road trip stop to visit Lincoln Museum. Very convenient downtown walkable location. On site free parking. They also provide shuttle service to anywhere you want to go. Staff efficient & very nice. Large clean room with fridge, microwave. Comfortable bed. Free breakfast. A great value for the price.
