Vagabond Inn Executive Old Town

I was surprised, when I arrived, to discover that this hotel included breakfast, which is comparable to Embassy Suites' breakfast. The breakfast included fully cooked scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sausage. There was also hot oatmeal, fruit juice, make your own waffles, and other breakfast items. Many places only offer hard-boiled eggs, instant oatmeal, and cold cereal; so this was a lot better. If you are lucky enough to stay here on a Tuesday night , which I was, you can enjoy the Manager's Reception at 5 PM, which includes beer, wine, sandwiches, desserts, etc..

We stayed at this motel because of it's location near Old Sacramento. It 's perfect if you want to visit that part of Sacramento. It's not a far walk to Old Town. Prices are okay and the room was clean. No problems. They have a pretty good breakfast spread also. There are lots of restaurants nearby and Old Sac is dripping in history.

I walked to dinner, The room was clean and decently appointed. The staff was nice when I had to wait for my Super Shuttle in the lobby early, before the free shuttle started its day.

Free quick airport pick up and drop off. Good free breakfast. Clean room. It's a great deal! Love the location because I love going to the old part of Sac.

It is right next to the freeway. Extremely noisy with cars and trains all day and night and could hear everything the neighbors said. When a hotel has to provide guests ear plugs, you know you should NOT stay there.

Room smelled strogly of bleach. Guess it was clean. Left too early for breakfast and airport shuttle. Great staff.

Near the I5 so a bit noisy in the early evening but by bedtime hardly noticed. They do supply ear plugs if you need them. Breakfast is fine with all the staples.

Was very happy with hotel. Beds were super comfortable, walking distance to old town and had a great complimentary breakfast buffet. Will stay here again.

room was comfortable and clean, breakfast was better than expected. eggs potatos sausage pancakes etc were fresh and flavorful. dinning area was a bit dated

I was able to walk to Old Town. Its a ten minute drive to my families home. It is by freeway so there is traffic noise and they have earplugs in guest room due that. The free breakfast is nice. It is not a fancy hotel but nice and meets needs for a room to stay in that is close to area attractions, the freeway(5), and the Amtrak. The bed was comfortable. There were some issues as icebox stayed very cold and froze water but it worked. Shower did not want to drain well but did. Heater/Ac worked fine. Bed was comfortable. There is construction work going on nearby and the drilling noise is loud but that is beyond hotels power to change and they do inform you and give option of rooms. Several times I was asked if I was a guest as I was outside smoking in the courtyard, that was insulting but because of location I assume they do have issues with homeless in the area.

Room was clean and comfortable, bed was extremely comfortable. Maid service was great, friendly. Hotel staff friendly too. Breakfast was excellent. Really an overall terrific stay.

...beware of early morning train horn. The room comes equipped with a supply of earplugs.

While the location is perfect for things like Golden 1, Old Town, the Capital, etc., don't expect a sharp, clean facility. It's tired and in need of tons of remodeling. Drains are slow, walls are scuffed, moldings are beat up, etc. However, if all you want location and price, this is a good option.

Outside, next to the door, is a bright light. Above the door is a transom that is composed of two translucent panes of glass and is not equipped with a curtain. The bright light outside reflects off the white ceiling of the corridor and shines in through the transom. You are supposed to sleep with what is effectively a searchlight shining in your eyes. Inside the room, the air/heat unit blows directly into your face because it is situated exactly beside where you lay your head on the bed. I arranged the two chairs in my room to block this. The staff are friendly and helpful. The free shuttle to the airport runs 24/7. The free breakfast is good. The bathroom and amenities are fine. The bedding is clean and comfortable. But whoever the architect is who designed the layout of these rooms is an idiot. Ask the front desk for a "blue towel" to drape over the light outside your room when you check in. They should know what you are talking about, because that is what they finally gave me in the middle of the night.

Easy walk from Sacramento Valley Train Station and very close to Old Town Sacramento. Breakfast included was of good quality, however the breakfast room smelled a little damp and musty - maybe some updating of the carpet/overall lighting is needed.

Dennis was awesome. A great addition to our weekend. He knew all the best spots.

clean room, comfy bed, good TV selection, great breakfast

Lisa, Lisa, Lisa...she made our stay memorable. Her attitude and her attention to my wife and I made us feel welcome and appreciated. We have never had any hotel employee who was so attentive that we didn't even have to ask, because she was right there to be sure we had what we needed and that included information about our surroundings. I can't say enough about Lisa and we hope the hotel realizes her contribution to customer satisfaction. Thanks again Lisa, Steve and Shaw

slept really well and the room was very comfortable

This is a basic bare bones place to stay. Internet is available for purchase at a reasonable cost ($2.99 for a day). No breakfast, but clean and comfortable.

Thank you for your review. Our lively neighborhood is what makes our location so attractive to travelers. We have rooms that don’t face the street on the South side of our property, in case you’d like to reserve those upon request.
