Holiday Inn Express Rochester - University Area

2.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Good location in proximity to university of Rochester if in town for interview. Good price and close to a pizza place

Very clean, close to eat, Keurig in the room, big fridge and microwave.

I've stayed at several Holiday Inn Expresses in the past. This one was quite disappointing. The place is still being converted from a LaQuinta. I paid for a Holiday Inn, but the room seemed like a LaQuinta to me. Small room, small bathroom and very dark. The sheets were too short for the bed, and I had to pull them out to get covered up. Overall, not very good for the money.

Hotel is under major construction to the front entry and it still says La Quinta (when I booked it was under Holiday Inn Express). check in was located in a little room. I was offered a complimentary dinner at another Holiday Inn location nearby which was nice. Room was great, bed was firm, tons of pillows...shower backed up a little but otherwise was fine. had the complimentary breakfast the next morning which was hardy. overall a good experience and i'm sure once construction is completed it will look as good as the rooms!

This hotel was a great value. Very convenient for local sights and nearby hockey rink. The staff was helpful, good breakfast and clean room with flat screen tv.

the hotel awas pleasant, staff friendly. It was clean and close to lots of food and entertainment areas

Enjoyed the stay. Very well located right off highway, a short drive and straight shot from airport which helped me as I arrived late. Very nice staff.

The current chain took over this property a while ago and so this reservations site calls this property one thing sometimes and the previous name other times ... Sometimes within the same confirmation email. No worries - they had our reservation and the place was just what we needed. Close to the airport, a quick drive to downtown, clean and comfortable room. We'll be back!

Came to Rochester to drop our son of at school. Stayed at this hotel a few years ago so decided to try it again. The room we had was located on first floor across a narrow hallway from a vending machine, ice machine, and the doors which all housekeeping staff need to use to get their cleaning carts. Needless to say, there was a lot of noise at all hours. The mattress in the room is seen better days. The staff is more interested in trying to get us to give favorable reviews than actually doing the work needed to earn it. Will not be staying here again

The staff was very pleasant. The hotel was very convenient to the airport. The room was quite nice and my arrival and departure was very timely.

room was nice and clean, a bit noisy since close to elevator. breakfast was nice and hot.

No problems, relatively clean and comfortable and close to the university.

Staff is very friendly and helpful, pool was great, cookies and breakfast tasty. I felt very comfortable during my stay. Restaurants within walking distance, and hotel was also close to another facility where I attended a conference

We arrived at 3:00 am after a long flight delay. The desk personnel were pleasant and the room was fine. The breakfast was okay but not terrific. The coffee was not very good.

The employee checking me in charged me for the room, despite having pre-paid. And then in the process of trying to refund me, charged me again. Her advice was to call my bank and report a fraudulent charge. When I spoke to the assistant manager, they told me if I had "left well enough alone" that this wouldn't have happened and that it'll take 3-5 business days to get the charges reversed. In the mean time I've paid nearly $300 for the worst customer service I've ever had while traveling. Absolute incompetence.

We were here for a visit. nice room and nice service. very convenient

La Quinta Inn was OK ... I was on a first floor room enroute to the pool & there was a lot of traffic to & from the pool - with a lot of children - a bit noisy. But overall a decent hotel.

I lived here for one night. it was very clean and quite.

It didn't start well when they put us in a smoking room despite our request for non-smoking, and then made no effort to change us despite another request. The room was somewhat worn-looking and had an air-conditioning system that did not allow much personal control. The hotel had noisy guests which we could hear quite clearly from other rooms. The rest was adequate or better, and the hotel does have a good location near U or R.

This is a great find for a budget-conscious traveler. I was in Rochester for an interview, They picked me up at the airport promptly and even drove me to my interview (which is just nearby but still...)! When I got at the hotel, they had cookies. Breakfast is okay. For someone like me looking to stretch my dollars, this is good! I stayed for just one night but I can say that this is the best one so far because of the airport/neighborhood shuttle. Bed was comfortable. Toiletries were not that much but good enough for one night's use. OVerall, this is very much recommended!
