Banyan Tree Mayakoba

Although this is a 5 star hotel there are better options in the area. I've stayed in the Nizuc and Rosewood in the past year and rate them both higher than Banyan Tree. Kids facility could do with an upgrade although my 5 yo was happy just to be interacting with others her same age. Perhaps your focus is golf in which case it's right on your doorstep. I'm not a golfer. Rooms look tired if you've stayed in either Rosewood or Nizuc. Be warned, the internet is very slow if you require it for work (1M)

Recently went for a short 3 day stay, had an amazing room with a private plunge pool. I say room, but it really was it's own separate structure- not connected to any other room/building- so had no noise from anywhere. The property is immaculately maintained, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The beach and pool are gorgeous. The food at dinner and breakfast were phenomenal- noticed that people from Rosewood and the Fairmont were coming to Saffron to experience the great meals- so good ate there both nights and had different dishes each night. Would highly recommend for couples over families- the Fairmont next door has better kid attractions including a water slide.

Super nice high end hotel, great place in general, could have better food.

We had a perfect 5 days at the Banyon Tree Mayacoba. The villas are private and luxurious, with very nice amenities including private swimming pool in your yard area, very high cielings, gated prívate courtyard, Bose Wave Radio, stone and wood finishes, Lavazzo coffee maker, free standing double granite vanity in the idle of the bathroom, large well appointed walk in closet, private lagoon front, etc. our only complaint is the price of the food /drinks vs the quality (very expensive, below average quality). We will come again, but will try to go out for meals more often.

Booked a spa pool villa and could not have been more pleased with the privacy, cleanliness, and comfort of the villa. We were in the offseason and the resort seemed very quiet, which suited our expectations. The dining options are a bit limited, but sufficient. I really enjoyed all the Mayakoba grounds and would recommend the bike rental for heading to the beach or using the nature trail. Hopefully, we'll be back soon!

The staff at the hotel is amazing. Available and equipped 24/7 with everything you need.

The perfect hotel for relaxing and getting away! The hotel offers great costumer service. Elegant and classy. Their spa is top of the line and the restaurants meet all our expectations!

Staff is very friendly - but the entire experience lacks that something special to make it a true 5-star property. Banyan Tree doesn't measure up with Capella Ixtapa. During our stay we were always on the waiting list for bicycles even though we only saw 3 guests ever on a bike (many staff members however) We walked everywhere and the constant staff golf carts coming and going made it a less than peaceful stroll. Breakfast buffet at $50 a head is way over priced. Saffron was fine - but not great. We had a Spa Pool Villa and were told we would see a few boats go by at 6pm and that would be it. That was not true, there were boats going by all day (again - staff) It is overall an awkward place. The distances are large - you can't get a bicycle - walking is playing "dodge the maintenance carts" which leaves you being shuttled by.....a golf cart.

This is a beautiful hotel with enormous villas. The villas were nicely designed, there are minor little maintenance and cleaniness issues (mildew at shower faucet handle). Service was excellent, prompt and attentive. We did a private yoga class which was not so great, room was dark and small, teacher was late. We complained and they waived the fee. We later learned we could have scheduled yoga on the beach which would have been great. The beach and pool attendants are excellent! Food was excellent as well. We went into town which was not as nice as the hotel. Overall a wonderful place for vacation.

We (me, my wife and 3-year old son) had a great time. The staff were fantastic. The villa and ood was very good. The only downside was lack of an active kids club. (Too few kids were around and it was not open one of the days)

really nice setting and condo was fantastic. love the natural feel of the property and amenities. service was top notch as well.

Without question one of the most relaxing resorts to be found. Fortunate to have stayed in an ocean front villa...what a treat! Food, service and all amenities first rate. Special gratitude to Juan- Manuel, whose first class management of the beach section of the hotel is second to none. Will return again!

This was the most fabulous vacation my husband and I have ever been on! The service was out of this world, the villas were breathtaking and the spa...best spa that I've ever been to! We will definitely make this an annual vacation away from the kids.

Great frpm the arrival until we left had a great time

For a couple that is madly in love, the Banyan Tree Mayakoba is one of the most romantic resorts on earth. Make sure to get the option for the free daily brunch as the food is to die for. Also, when you get there, have your host increase the temperature of the pool immediately. La Copa is a good alternative to an expensive dinner and has more than just tapas.

I expected impeccable service for a Banyan Tree resort - 5+ star rated hotel. However, the 4 nights we stayed, we only had 2 nights of turn down service. The Spa was fantastic and definitely an experience not to be missed. The facilities at the gym and everywhere else was great.

The Banyan Tree is gorgeous, well located, well cared for. But the resort is so huge and spread out, you end up constantly waiting 5-15 minutes for a shuttle to breakfast, to the beach, or back to your room. Walking is possible from some villas, but not to the beach from the main part of the resort. If we had not had our 6-year old along we could have rented the (adult-sized) bikes, and all would have been well, but as it was we felt fairly hassled from the constant waiting. Only two tennis courts available, and make sure they nail down the reservation details. Racquets & balls (& water!) should be borrowed from the front desk, not at the pro shop. The townhouses are the only good value, and work well for families. The private pool was not heated, but was a great temperature. Wished we had stopped at a store on the way in and brought snacks & drinks so we didn't have to use the minibar. Napkins also would have been handy as there were none!

This hotel was a perfect place to celebrate our anniversary! The villas are beautiful and very romantic, the service was better than expected, and the food was delicious. I also highly recommend the Spa, my package included a free 60 minute massage and it was fantastic. The massage was great, but the ambience of the treatment rooms and the service from the attendant and lobby staff made the experience one I won't forget

do not worry about some recent reviews. had an excellent stay at the townhouse. Service was phenomenal. Townhouse was a lot of fun and the resort and food were fabulous. highly recommend! and even with a wedding there and the resort totally booked, we did not feel that it was busy, overcrowded or that we were overlooked in any way. definitely go!
