Mostly Great Experience, But Misleading Advertising My family trip to Iberostar Paraíso del Mar was mostly positive thanks to the incredible local staff. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, and genuinely kind. Their hospitality made a big difference in our stay. However, I was disappointed by the misleading photos on Orbitz. The listing prominently featured images of a water park with slides, water toys, and a lazy river — which I thought would be perfect for my toddler. Unfortunately, we learned upon arrival that those amenities belong to a different, higher-tier Iberostar property and were not accessible to us. This felt deceiving and led to unmet expectations, especially since the visuals played a big role in our decision to book. Additionally, I was surprised to find that one of the central bars at the resort was reserved exclusively for members. This bar was located in a very visible, central area of the all-inclusive property, making it feel exclusionary to regular guests. Overall, while we enjoyed our stay, I urge Orbitz and the hotel to be more transparent with their listings so future guests can make fully informed choices.

We came here with our 2 year old twins and they absolutely loved it! The hotel feels like a wildlife retreat. There are wild peacocks, pigs, coatis, and other animals. Our kids loved it! The staff was friendly, especially Ramiro at the front desk, Jessica at the concierge desk and Octavio, one of the head chefs. There were a few negative: the property is very widespread and it takes forever to walk from your room, to the restaurants, pool, and beach; they also don’t have any elevators, which was a huge inconvenience because we had a stroller with us; the beach is not nice. It’s very small with very few chairs and is covered in seaweed. If you’re looking for the beautiful turquoise water, this isn’t it. The only nice part of the beach was the star prestige area, which of course your had to pay extra for. Overall though, I highly recommend this place for people with kids.

We absolutely loved the immersive natural setting of this property, complete with a huge swimming pool and a lovely sandy beach. The walking paths felt like enchanting journeys through a lush "jungle," teeming with beautiful wildlife. The staff were exceptional – consistently friendly, attentive, and dedicated to maintaining the grounds and providing excellent service. We also had a blast parasailing and took a memorable snorkeling trip to Cozumel. With a variety of delicious restaurants and a particularly impressive buffet, dining options were a definite highlight.

The property is huge so to get from your room to go eat or get to the beach/pools take a longgg walk or you have to wait for transportation. The Buffett was the same every day except 1 and was not that great. The “no reservation needed” diner took 1.5 hours to get into. It wasn’t a horrible stay, but definitely not the best either. I wouldn’t purposely go back.

Wonderful Stay at Iberostar Waves Paraíso del Mar! We had a fantastic stay at Iberostar Waves Paraíso del Mar! The resort was exceptionally clean, the food was delicious with plenty of variety, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Joe from the club stood out—he was so welcoming and made our experience even better. One of the highlights was the beautiful wildlife around the resort. We loved seeing peacocks, black and white swans, flamingos, and even chameleons roaming freely—it made the atmosphere even more special. The only downside was the drinks, which could have been better, but everything else more than made up for it. Overall, a great experience, and we would definitely return!

We found there was a definite lack of communication from the resort. A prime example was the day they upgraded the room locks, the resort dropped off a notice 4 hours after the fact which stated you would be able to exchange your keys the next day. Another example demonstrating the lack of communication there was no posting of the nightly activities in a easily accessible area, the only sign we found posted was by the far end of the pool, which we stumbled upon only because the towel exchange we normally used happened to be closed early. Even then it only had that day’s activity not a weekly schedule. It appears though Iberostar is putting efforts into the lands and building maintenance to extend the life of the facilities and sell their Star Prestige program there was little in the way of customer appreciation.

The front desk staff is not well trained. Also difficult to get chairs by the beach. Although we were told that we could use all the facilities when we sat at the Iberostar next door only place we could find chairs they treated us like criminals. They borough securiTy and the youn woman working at the beach was very rude to us that we were not allowed to use those chair because it a different class hotel and we were not paying for that. My husband was talking with her and I was in my phone, so she said that if I was taking pictures of her she is calling the police!! It's too bad this happened as we had been there before but with this experience never again. I've never felt so insulted . We tried and asked for a manager but they could not get someone and did not care.

We stayed Jan2-Jan 9. The resort was beautiful clean and for the most part staff was great. Until we got to the membership pitch. Since we weren’t interested we were dismissed treated with less importance because we didnt want the membership. we didnt get checked on after we turned down the membership. Kind of rude but sure we can over look that. But unfortunately we won’t be returning to this resort because of the infestation of “cuatis” or nasua animals. These animals are over populated on the property and walk up take your food and drinks with no fear of being shoed off or anything. I sat down at a picnic table that is right next to the restaurant and these animals came out from the trees and shrubs jumped on my table and took my food. Didn’t even flinch after I tried to shoe them off. Instantly I had over 15 of these animals on my table taking my food. There are garbage cans on the side walk next to the bleach but are locked. So patrons just put there garbage on top of the cans anyways because the staff told them to leave it there. And then they get these animals all over the cans. We even went golfing and were warned to not leave our wallets or phone in the golf cart because they will get on the carts. Sure enough during our round of golf they invaded our cart took our drinks and searched for food. This is very unsafe and not clean at all. They’re just over sized rats. Resort needs to control the population of these animals and keep them from invading eating areas.

We enjoyed our stay. The food at each restaurant and buffet was plentiful and what we had delicious. The beach is stunning! Enjoy a massage if you can! The staff makes this resort wonderful.

The staff and facilities were fantastic. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The beach was wonderful with easy access to the water. Waves and water temperature were perfect. Unfortunately the "mini" bar in the room was only stocked with 2 beer- no other alcohol was supplied in the room. It was difficult to get a lounge chair at the beach unless you went down at 7:30 am to settle in for the day. Leaving your things on the lounges to reserve for later in the day was frowned upon.
