Overall vacation was good. We love this particular resort for so many reasons! Grounds are beautiful and have so many hidden areas to explore! 98% of stuff was great!!! Food and drinks never disappoint. The beach is getting much much better after years of sea weed problem. They for sure can improve check in experience for their guests by not keeping people standing in line for a long time. One more time - great place for entire family to enjoy nature and services! Highly recommend! Thank you Sandos!

Room was fine space wise we had a penthouse suite but the outside tub was filthy and when we did get it cleaned it did not fill up and the jets were filled with red ants. Our toilet was dirty on day one and stayed that way all week. Probably the biggest disappointment was the food it’s like no one ever tastes anything, absolutely no flavor. Will not return

Upon check in they let me know that half the restaurants and pools were closed due to construction, My “Select club Adult only Penthouse Suite” sections were also closed. They then moved us to a family penthouse and we lost most of the “Select club” privileges..besides a pop up “adult only” (that had plenty minor) pool. A beach club bar and 2 restaurants to have breakfast at out of the 6. The staff did not seem to care, I asked why i was never notified and they blamed expedia. When I contacted expedia they let me know they were never informed anything about the closures at Sandos and that Sandos was refusing to reimburse or credit me more my losses. The food was not very appetizing, My partner got food poisoning for 3 days. They had some great bar tenders that gave amazing service, but unfortunately most workers weren’t that kind or seemed happy to be there. They had a lot of wild animals on site, Including some Donkeys in a farm pen. One evening My partner, a bystander mother and son and I witnessed three women giving the donkeys beer to drink out of their cups. We asked them to stop, as that’s animal cruelty. They responded “we always feed our donkeys at home beer” We immediately went and told the front receptionist about what had just accrued and all they did was shrug. Our air conditioner was broken for 7/10 days we stayed. We asked 4 times for it to be fixed and when I then contacted the expedia rep she said she only saw the work order requested once.

This was my 2nd time at Sandos Caracol and overall i was very happy with my stay here. The staff are wonderful and the property was clean. They were also mid upgrades/rennovations on several areas of the property, i assume because it is their low season. My complaints were as follows: 1. The bed in our penthouse room was no softer than the floor and I had to sleep on the daybed for most of the trip otherwise i was in pain the next day. 2. The people trying to sell things on the beach....massages, bracelets, more massages...it made sitting on the beach unenjoyable 3. The music at the (temporary) adults only pool as well as KIIN was 24/7 techno type music and the beat sounded exactly the same for every song and that got old really quick. 4. Rennovations to the select club section meant that the Brazilian BBQ restaurant was closed and thats one reason we chose this resort, but the other a la carte meals were fantastic!

The resort is beautiful, especially the beach, adult pool, and cenotes. However, I wasn't impressed with the rooms. We had a broken air conditioner and broken safe. They did not have great soap, shampoo, or toilet paper - and they were very stingy with washcloths. The staff at the beach was amazing - bringing us food, drinks, etc. I just wish the staff for the rooms was decent too. They did not fix our air conditioner for us, and one day they didn't even clean our room when we put the room cleaning sign up. Pros: -Beautiful -Amazing Beach -Unlimited Drinks -Private and Relaxing Adults-Only Pool -Cenotes that are fun to swim in -Great Restaurants -Friendly Staff at the Beach and Restaurants -Adorable Animals on Site (Monkeys, Peacocks, etc.) Cons: -Rooms -Staff for the rooms -Lots of Mosquitos - (Pack a LOT of bug spray) -They do not provide bottled water. -If you take the Welcome Packet, they will try to sell you a time share. -No drawers in the room, so you can't really unpack and need to live out of your suitcase all week. -A lot of walking required.

We only stayed two nights but it was very nice! Make sure you bring mosquito repellent! The boat ride was nice I honestly do not have any complaints. It was nice seeing animals all around. Beware of the snakes also we seen a bird drop one out of its mouth on the walkway.

Good property and staff. You can get restaurant reservations through the app. The senote by room 63 is the best one if you want a peaceful environment to reflect. The lis iridos resturant has great steaks, i would recommend. The brazillian steak resturant is also great. The buffet can be hit or miss but generally its not bad. Nidos has good tacos and its open 24/7. I would recommend red salsa for spice lovers

Upon check-in, select club members are walked around some buildings to a checkin office that was air conditioned with snacks and drinks, which was nice. The room was already cool with its own ac unit on the wall which cooled you to the bone, if that was your preference. Plenty of towels. There was no bar soap or conditioner just body wash and shampoo dispensers in the shower. The odd thing was, the showerhead faced the glass shower door. If you turned it all the way up, it literally flooded the bathroom. You had to set the pressure to not hit the door which provided lackluster pressure. The beds were on the stiff side, yet comfortable. The three pillows per bed were fine. The room fridge was stocked with beers and water and there was a 5 gallon filtered water dispenser on the counter. Umbrella, safe, ironing board and iron in the closets. There was constant cleaning and blowing of leaves going on to keep the grounds tiny. Maps of the resort were adequate. There was some changes in show location which one has to simply figure out. The bar tenders poured good drinks. The food, generally, wasn’t great. I found a few items at the buffet that were alright and simply ate those. The teppanyaki restaurant was noisy and over salty due to all of the soy sauce. The food was mediocre but tasted fresh. Italian was closed for slow season. The Brazilian restaurant, which was by the adult pool, was alright. Meat a fish restaurant was our favorite.
