DO NOT RENT A ROOM HERE.. 1) ROOM WAS OLD AND OUTDATED CIRCA 1950. 2) BED WAS ROCK HARD, BEDDING ROUGH AND IRRITATING. DIRTY THROW PILLOWS ARE YOUR PILLOW. 3)SHOWER GOES HOT-COLD IN MORINING. 4) HOTEL IS ON THE ACTUAL STREET 5TH AVENIDA, LIVE BANDS AND SCREAMING PATRONS AND PASSERBYS PREVENT ANY SLEEP. OH MY GOD, DONT MAKE THIS MISTAKE. RENT FAR FROM FIFTH AVENIDA.

Very cute hotel. We were given a room close to the reception that was loud because of construction nearby and we were able to switch rooms easily that same day.

Charming hotel with lovely staff and very comfortable beds. I was very pleased with my short stay at this hotel. Please note that it is off of the main entertainment street in Playa Del Carmen, and the surrounding area can be noisy. I always suggest traveling with earplugs, and had mine on this trip, so it wasn’t a problem.

It's a unique and beautiful hotel in a great location. Our room was on the 4th floor at the back of the property, so 5th Ave noise was a non-issue. The shower head is a rainfall type one with no pressure whatsoever, which made it impossible for my wife to wash her hair. She used a shower in a friend's room on the bottom floor. I don't like that the room key is used to activate the lights and AC and that you deactivate them when you leave the room. I understand why they do this but don't like it. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

Hotel is in a fabulous location...within walking distance to pretty much everthing! However, the rooms could use some sprucing up and the beds feel like you're sleeping on a cement slab! There was a lot of noise, as well, which is not good for some of us coming from PST or looking to get some sleep. First night, i was put in a room down in lobby area where I could hear the bar next door through the wall, people upstairs through the roof and drunks coming into lobby after hours arguing. The person that checked me in also didn't tell me anything about breakfast, check out times, etc. (Which was in my reservation when I booked online, but a refresher never hurts). The next day, the staff was nice enough to move me to a quieter location on 3rd floor. However, during the day it sounded like there was some sort of repair work going on (someone hammering on a pipe or something) making it difficult to try to get even an hour nap to make up for the sleepless nights!

Great location near beach access and on Main Street

A lovely overall experience. The staff were helpful and courteous, the room spotless, the AC VERY much appreciated:) It can get loud being situated directly on Ave 5 but if you request a room on the opposite side it's a bit quieter. Of note, the staff are very conscientious about who they let in, even stopping and asking the friend with whom I was traveling for identification, which we both very much appreciated as it is clear that they take security seriously. They offer discounts to the local beach club and provide towels as well.

This hotel is located a bit of a walk from the bus station, but if you just have a carryon it's no big deal. My room at the back was spacious and quiet, and kept very clean. The staff were helpful and conversant in Spanish and English. Including breakfast at the restaurant across the street (in the cost) made getting a start on the day easy, and waiters were attentive and pleasant. Easy 3 block walk to the Beach Club associated with the hotel.

Everything looked old.. Good location, yet it felt dirty

Great location. Beautiful garden courtyard. Convenient to beach ... enjoyed the Mamitas Beach Club affiliation. Enjoyed being on the 5th Avenue pedestrian street near restaurants, clubs and shops. Yet property was still quiet. Great staff service.

Everything could have been great if not asking for hot water would have made a big deal. Just up front the hotel is offering coffee and water for free. So if you expect hot coffee you might also expect hot water. Just to make that clear all the staff but one was very nice with us, but one person is enough to ruin your stay. Here are some of the answers we got from this specific person after asking for a cup(we brought our own) of hot water: "No we don't have hot water, just cold". After asking again we were told "to wait 4 hours because the water maker is broke". After this we were told to "just walk to the restaurant across to ask for hot water". Which we did and of course were declined as we found out later this was simply a lie. We confronted the front desk with the facts and yes they apologized and offered us some compensation we in the end did not except as it was not our goal to get something for free but make our point.

We found this little hidden gem by booking same day and loved it! The lobby is gorgeous and you can walk to anything and everything you need, including the beach. Great little hotel.

Right at 5th avenue, great location ,access to all the cool places

This was a quicqly decide to choose that hotels, because of the price and the location, A small boutique hotel, with small toom.

breakfast is included which was nice. otherwise, they don't offer you a lot in terms of amenities. the local is right on 5th ave, so it's not always quiet. some of the rooms are definitely better than others. I started in a room with only one small window and ended up paying extra to move.

We stay here every year. The staff is great and the hotel is in the perfect spot. New rooms upstairs are super nice!

Gizele, at reception was the best part of our stay. She spoke great English, was super friendly, and said everything with a warm smile. Our room was located on the ground floor where you could hear the reception phone ring. The hotel interior is gorgeous, but the room fell short. I also want to say that Playa Del Carmen was disappointing in general and next time I'll skip it all together.

We had a great stay at Posada Mariposa. It's no frills, but it's so perfectly located that you won't spend much time in the room anyway. It's clean, simple, and the staff was lovely. It's about 5 minutes from the beach and steps away from great foods/ bars. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
