Excellent, well located, careful and extremely nice service

We loved the location -- very quiet, small, intimate, beautiful beachfront property! The staff was wonderful, food was beautiful and tasty! We loved having massages on the beach (two days in a row, they were so good). We'd like to come back here.

Possibly the best vacation my family has ever taken. In the cabanas you step directly into the beach. Everywhere you look is like a picture on a postcard. Hotel is small so can get to know some other guests. The staff is smalle enough that you get to know them as well. They really bend over backwards for the guests for everything from room cleaning to setting up excursions. We will absolutely be back.

Check in was a little off due to a misunderstanding about airport transportation. We were told $70 round trip, but when we arrived at the hotel they said it was EACH WAY. ALSO, we had to pay the driver in cash, which we were not expecting so our cash funds were severely affected. HOWEVER, Esperanza found us a couple of days later and explained that since we were given inaccurate information, the hotel would pay the difference. This made a HUGE difference in our experience and we appreciated them taking care of us. The hotel is quaint, no major frills. The pool is clean and a nice size. Plenty of scenic cabanas or “palapas” beach side. The food was probably my favorite part of the experience. We had our fill at every me and everything was freshly prepared and nicely plated. The drinks are well priced, but not very strong. BRING EXTRA CASH. there is no ATM on site and the store and massages are cash only. Overall, very pleasant trip.

Wonderful hotel on the beach. Excellent staff and relaxing environment.

This hotel is very cute and tucked away...a little hidden gem. The staff is absolutely wonderful from the front desk all the way to the beach bar. When you're here you feel like you're staying with family. Their beach has lots of places to relax and they have an awesome bar right there The problem for me was the jet skis buzzing around all day in the water pretty much right in front of where you relax. It wasn't just the sound that was getting to me, it was the gas smell. I'm not saying they should stop letting people have fun. We did mention it to the staff and they said their hands are tied...they can't stop the rentals of jet skis from the hotel next door. What are ya gonna do? It might have been an anomaly too, extra busy out there when we stayed. After the jet ski rental time is over, around 5? it was absolutely perfect. That is why I'm not giving it 5 stars. And might I add it's not Petit Lafitte's fault at all.

This hotel is a gem. A couple of things to mention - the staff is amazing and they LOVE kids. My daughter was treated like royalty by everyone and it made our stay so special. The staff overall is just topnotch and made us feel like family. The food is delicious. I was skeptical because I don't usually do "All Inclusive" (because the quality of food is typically so bad) but we did not have a bad meal the entire week. Everything is fresh and so good. They can customize for dietary needs and on 2 occasions made a special kid meal for my daughter. Playa Del Carmen is gross and this gem is far enough away that you aren't part of the madness but you can get their easily if you want to shop. My only complaint is that the huge hotels on either side of Petit draw a lot of tourists to the beach but there is nothing to be done about that. Go here! You will love it!!

We went for relaxation and warmth and got plenty of each. The property is beautiful, and the beach is the best one in the area. We enjoyed the landscaping, the bunglows, the wildlife (tropical birds and monkeys, to name a few). I felt like we were in a setting that was closer to the real vibe of the area before the mega resorts came along. We enjoyed the food, the happy hours with entertainment, and the intimate feel surrounding each. I loved our bungalow and would highly recommend staying in one. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Quiet time. Average rooms. Food was good but without a lot of options.

The Petite Lafitte Hotel is nestled in between larger properties on the beach just north of Playa del Carmen. It's a small property with a chilly pool (we were there in late December) and a very friendly staff. Breakfast and dinner are included with the price and the beachside bar stays open to accommodate the guests. There is a small 3 story main building and about 15 bungalows which are larger and more private. The food is excellent and the bar offers a limited menu during the day. The property is well maintained and offers everything you would want in a beachside resort. What isn't available at this property can be arranged by the front desk or found a short distance up or down the beach. My only criticism of the property is the extra guest charge which seems high, especially for children, but compared to the charges at some of the all inclusive resorts, may be reasonable. It is conveniently located to Puerto Morelos or Akumal and maybe a 10 minutes drive from PDC.

Good location. Small but very well kept and cozy resort. Meals were good and decent for vegetarian folks.

Enjoyed my stay at lafitte- staff and food excellent and close to city of playa de Carmen to enjoy Many bars and restaurants- don't miss the cenotes

The moment you get there, you are home. The staff is very attentive and will go out of their way to make your stay the best! Jesus, Victor, Martin and Manuel have all been there for 15 years or more each and Geovanie, Antonio and the others are learning from the best! You will think you want to go to Playa or Cozumel, until you get there and realize you want to "go home" and never leave!

This was our first stay in Playa del Carmen so I picked this hotel based on reviews. We prefer smaller hotels and love the Tulum area (where we spent half this vacation and at least part of every other vacation in the area). We were surprised when we arrived as it felt a lot larger than it is (50 rooms). When you arrive you walk through past the restaurant (seats 90) and the pool (very nice large pool) to get to the rooms. The building for the main rooms is 3 stories (be aware that you may have a 3 floor walk-up to get to your room). Only the front-most rooms have much of a beach view (we were in the front set on the third floor - 506- and did have a really nice view). Rooms are pretty standard beach rooms, nothing really special. My husband's comments upon entering let me know he was a bit disappointed. Overall, though, they weren't bad and they were clean. We've just gotten a bit spoiled in Tulum. The only real complaint we had in the end with the room was that the bed was not comfortable (too firm) and we could have used more pillows. Our room included breakfast and dinner and this is where we really were surprised. The food was outstanding. Breakfast offered a continental buffet or a full menu (included with our room). Dinner was a 4-course fair that changed each night and both nights we had amazing food. Service was excellent throughout the resort. All in all it was a great stay, and we would recommend it if you stay in Playa.

Great staff and we loved the location. We were looking for a small hotel with a more personal and authentic experience and this checked all of our boxes. We loved the food and the service and the rooms.

This was our first trip to the Riviera Maya without staying in a giant all-inclusive. Those types of places have their perks but after staying at Petit Lafitte, I really don't want to go back to a giant place. PL is small, intimate, relaxing, the staff is amazing, the setting and grounds are gorgeous, and the bungalows and rooms are cute. Dinner and breakfast is included - the food was fantastic - a 4 course meal for dinner and a great breakfast menu. You can get lunch at the bar restaurant, also great food, or walk to CoCo's next door for great pizza and cerviche (this is a must - CoCo's is super cute and the staff were really nice...and wear your swimsuit because you can take a little dip in their pool). For drinks, you just start a tab at the beginning of the week and pay up at the check out - for our family of 6, included 2 20-somethings, our drink and lunch/snack at the bar bill was $400 for 6 days. Margaritas were about 65 pesos (about $3.25 US) each, a glass of wine about 90 pesos ($4.50 US). The beach front and pool are great - and it was never crowded. We were always able to get prime beach chairs without waking up at 5:00 AM to reserve a spot. You can get a massage on the beach for only 600 pesos (about $30 US)- this is a must. The swimming on the beach is great. The kids can run around and it's small enough that I wasn't concerned about having my youngest run back to the bungalow by herself. Perfect vibe for relaxation.

This was our 5th visit in as many years, and was probably our best time. Great to see familiar faces of the staff whom we've come to know well. Things seemed busier this year, with more guests than we're used to seeing, but perhaps it was our scheduling this year. Very relaxing stay. Beautiful weather. Great margaritas. We took advantage of the $30 hour massages which helped melt the tension away. Next door, Cocoa Cabanas offered a different menu than the standard fare at Petite.

Hotel was very welcoming. David is wonderful and charming . He gave us a tour of the hotel and explained everything. The hotel's beach is a little rocky, but there are areas you can swim. The pool is small. The food at the hotel is very good. It is half board-breakfast and dinner. Lots of fruits and salads, healthy food. We stayed in a bungalow which was different and also in the main part of the hotel. I liked the main part because it is brighter. The bungalows are great for families with small children. There are spider monkeys in the trees .

We arrived at Petit Lafitte in a rental car and it was a little strange coming in through the different hotel complexes with high walls, then a dirt road leading to P.L. We were greeted in the lobby with a delicious glass of melon juice, then David showed us around P.L and then to our room. Everything was very clean: the rooms, bathrooms, pool area and grounds. There were lots of staff members working hard every day to make sure everything was spotless. Loved the traditional rooms. Very simple with tile floors and my favorite part was the patio off the room where you could sit and look at the ocean. We were in a ground floor room with an ocean view. Other rooms had a pool view and on the other side are the bungalow rooms. The room had a coffeemaker, mini fridge, tv and safe. Loved that they provided lots of bottled water each day. Great food here which included breakfast and dinner. We ate at the beach bar for lunch each day. That was delicious as well. There is also a little gift shop where you can rent lifejackets and snorkel kits. We got these for swimming in the cenotes. We would take a walk several times a day and the beaches were beautiful. Lots of huge resorts with massive amounts of people on beach chairs in these complexes. Made us glad when we got back to our quiet resort! They also had 2 for 1 drink specials sometimes in the evenings and entertainment like live music and mayan dancers. We loved it here and will be back!
