Someone was smoking outside the room and the smell just came through. Have people smoke in designated areas. When I checked out the lady at the desk saw me waiting and she was on her cell phone for 4 minutes. She did not acknowledge me. This was at 10 A.M. on Tuesday 1/6. I stayed at the Economy Inn next door 6 year ago and the service was way better.

Front desk staff were welcoming and friendly! There’s a Safeway and some restaurants directly across the street within walking distance which was nice. I did not have a vehicle during my stay, so that was really convenient! I didn’t venture further down the street because I was there for just one night, but I think there may have been some more restaurants. Good sidewalks & traffic lights to keep you safe if you have to hoof it!

Hotel was Ok until I saw tons of bugs on window sill, made me look a little closer. Pillows were flat and not comfortable. AC worked great…it actually got too cold. Bath Tub had rust stains, sink was outside of bathroom.

Dropped off my son at Cal for his second year. I’ve always stayed here when I travel to the East Bay Area. There is a Safeway across the street. Near downtown Castro Valley for restaurants and entertainment. Will continue staying here.

There is a shopping center across the street with a few easy eating options (we chose Panda Express). There was a good frozen yogurt option for dessert. If you want to "fend for yourself", there is a large Safeway Supermarket with lots to choose from. The slow check-in was due to an illness in the primary front desk person so I am assuming it was temporary. The staff was friendly and when we needed help with the TV, they responded quickly. Clean, neat accommodations which fit our needs and a good quality bed.

Room was not cleaned found trash left behing by previous visits i assume. Smoke detector was cover with a shower cap. Found electronic vapor cartridge trash around on of the beds. Futon bed when opened had some trash/ debris. On last day my wife found some blood splash on one of the door frames.
