Hotel really shows its age. Rooms are outdated, needs painting, new faucets etc. Bed sheets were very worn, had holes in them. Sheets barely covered the king mattress, they couldn't be tucked in so by morning the sheets were off and you're laying right on the mattress. The room had a Jacuzzi tub but the jets were kind of dirty which wasn't very inviting to sit in it, needless to say I didn't use it. There was a very small TV in the bathroom I suppose for the jacuzzi, but it was disconnected and not being used. However, if it isn't being used it should be removed or at least clean the very thick coat of dust from it. The Continental breakfast was disappointing, some donuts, toast, OJ and coffee. It was OK to sleep for a night but not for a long term time.

Hotel was nearby . A little road noise but everything was adequate.

No computer available to check flight reservation, but owner tried to accomodate by using their office computer. The door was not properly secured.

I stay in hotels all the time. This is by far the worse experience I've had in years. The staff is very rude and dishonest. They tried to over charge my credit card used for incidentals and then when confronted about it the staff was very ugly. In the end they removed the charges because they were wrong but they were just very ugly and argumentative. The staff did not handle the situation well at all when I nicely confronted them. They were very defensive and rude. In addition the room was not very clean there was dust bunnies and hair in the room which does not surprise me. The hotel cleanliness reflects the hotels overall attitude which is extremely!!! I would not recommend anyone staying here. This hotel clearly has a scam going of overcharging people and hoping they don't notice.

I was surprised in excellent way how this hotel was convenient. It was close to bart and close to Oakland city and I found the best was that I could just walk to safeway or any other convenient store that was across from hotel. I enjyed this hotel very much. Another great but great thing aout this hotel is the view. I had fanstastic view of the city and moutains and sunset as well! This was the best for the money I paid. I think this is one of the good hotel for reasonable price. I would absolutely saty here again!!!!

Bad area and a bad room. Lots of issues here, starting with the nasty bathroom and leading to the dirty and aged room and decor. I could not get out fast enough. Whoever did the remodel on this place, it must have been his first time using tools.

Lovely whirlpool tub, and enjoyed having microwave & refrigerator. There's a grocery store RIGHT across the street, which is also very convenient. Lovely, polite & swift staff. WiFi worked great with no problems. Beautiful area of Castro Valley near the hills. Only thing I didn't like was the shower fixture, which was old and may need replacing soon. Otherwise very clean, roomy, and quiet.

Great Hotel. Very clean. They even had a tv in the shower.

Great location and price for a quick rest. During a late night of work I needed a place to stay, along came this great little place in Castro Valley.

Wasnt the best ! But was considering the rest. Clean enough, slightly outdated , staff was cool i got the suite upgrade for FREEE!!! Lol

I can't give it 5 stars because it is the EconoLodge not the Hyatt. But in relation to what I needed and was willing to pay, I would give it 5 stars. Right across the street from Safeway, a refrigerator and microwave in the room, clean comfortable bed and a good night sleep, the motel supplied me with all I needed. Even grabbed some coffee and a doughnut and orange juice after my morning shower. Yep, I would stay here again.

I stayed one night at the Castro Valley Econo Lodge. And I'm glad that it was only one night. The building is quite old, and the rooms are totally outdated. The fixtures in the room are very old, with multiple coats of paint. The bathroom was clean, but everything is old. Overall things were clean, but the decor and feel of the room completely lets this place down. Also, it should be noted that there seems to be long term tenants here, as I noticed that laundry was hanging over the balcony and people were lounging outside of their rooms. If left in a pinch and one desires the cheapest place around, then this may be your choice. But next time, I'll spend a few bucks more and stay at somewhere a bit more dated.

This hotel really needs some work. The carpet was stained, I was afraid to walk barefoot in the room. The toilet paper was sitting on the sink, roller was broken. I was very disappointed, and this hotel was not worth the money I paid for the room. Bed didn't even have fitted sheets, and there were holes in the blanket. Hind sight, I should have demanded a refund and stayed somewhere else.

We didn't have any towels in our room. When I called in after getting out of the shower and not finding any towels, I was told to come to the front desk in 10 minutes and the staff was extremely rude!

Room was large enough, but bed made noise every time someone moved. The bathroom had a little mold.

Overall, the place was clean. It had a microwave and fridge. [...] It was a non-smoking room but it smelled like smoke in the bathroom. Their "free breakfast" was merely coffee and some old donuts. A decent place for a good price.

did not feel safe, questionable guests. people hanging out late at nite in cars. looks like drug transactions. attic acess in room which is conneted to other rooms.

DOWN-GRADED FROM PREVIOUS NAME CHANGE. NO EXTRA PILLOWS OR BLANKETS. MOTORCYLCES IN MIDDLE OF NIGHT.

Three nights, mid-week in August. Up-stairs, queen bed, non-smoking, with micro and fridge. Very reasonable price. Clean, nice bathroom. Staff pleasant but brief at check-in (language limitations?). The good part: this room is one of only two at the motel all the way in the back, away from the street, with the entry door facing back toward a church parking lot. The window facing the courtyard/parking lot opened completely and allowed a wonderful cross-breeze with the entry door open. And since that door was on the other end of the room, only a guest who walked up the back stairs to the second floor could notice it being open. Quiet, even though there were some guests (permanent residents?) downstairs who were somewhat noisy on one night. Really nice room; just my style!

Visiting friends and some business on a Friday in August; room with a king bed and jacuzzi tub. Up stairs, nice view, and relatively quiet. Staff at check-in was pleasant but brief (language limitations?) But lacking in a number of details: wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling (in a minor way, but still evident), caulking was messy and/or missing around the tub/shower, shower outlet was pointed toward the wall (so hard to get wet head-to-toe), a chair was loose and wobbly (enough to be worrisome), double set of draps closed only after some tricky manipulation, etc. Just little details but noticeable.
