Ritz-Carlton, Montréal5.0 out of 5.0

I booked tea yesterday yesterday at the Ritz. The location (in a lobby outside the Oval Room) totally lacks atmosphere. Service was outstanding, food was okay. The food scene in Montreal is so amazing and I longed for the wow factor that was missing. I expected a view of something beautiful and some atmosphere. A garden setting? Music? Windows? Really beautiful pastries? Flowers? I have enjoyed "tea" all over the world. I have to call this average.
Does anyone ever give any Ritz a bad review? I mean, this hotel does everything right. This particular Ritz was perfectly situated in downtown and within walking distance to Old Montreal. The staff was perfectly professional and accommodating as we've all come to expect and the rooms were exquisite. The bathrooms were particularly magnificent, in fact, I could have spent most of the weekend there. The concierge hooked us up with a particularly difficult reservation at a phenomenal mediterranean restaurant. Anything you ask of a Ritz staffer seems doable. Amazing as always.
The location of the Ritz is perfect for all the great shopping, museums and restaurants in Downtown Montreal. The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The Spa is terrific as we had a wonderful couples massage on our two day there.
I highly recommend The Ritz-Carlton Montreal. This is a long overdue 5 star review since I have stayed here many times. The Ritz Montreal is a very well run luxury hotel with stellar service. The rooms are impeccably maintained and modern. The nicest part of the rooms may be the large bathrooms which include electronic Japanese toilets with heated floors, heated towel racks, large and spotless shower, soaking tub, etc. The gym has a small lap pool, but it is never crowded. What really makes the Ritz is the customer service. From the moment of check in until departure they go out of their way to not just meet, but anticipate all your needs. I cannot speak highly enough of the level and attention to detail of the customer service. I easily recommend the Ritz as the best hotel in Montreal, but it also rises to the level of one of my favorite hotels globally.
My wife and I took our son to the Montreal F1 race for 4 nights. While the hotel was fully booked the staff made us feel as if we were the only ones there. Veronica was amazing looking after our every need during our stay and it seemed she was always there with a helpful thought. The main restrauant Daniel Bould was expensive but great. Evenings before dinner spent outside in front of the hotel having a glass of Champane people watching was fun. The roof top pool was a big hit with our 10nyear old son. Overall this property and staff are a 10.
We stayed as guests during the busy Formula 1 event. First of all, this is a super fun time to visit Montreal. The gods were on our side and we enjoyed fantastic late spring weather. There were street festivals and the location of this hotel is exciting and perfect. Our room was quiet and shiny clean beautiful, if a bit tight. The bed comfortable and piles of pillows awesome, the front desk is super friendly and helpful. Their attention to detail was outstanding. If I could comment on anything, perhaps A better selection of TV channels (no HBO) would be a nice thing to consider, although watching reruns in French is almost totally entertaining.
When you enter your state room, you will find the highest technology available in a six star hotel. When you're sleeping and get getting up, there are sensors that identify you walking and lighting is activated. The food was above average
Stayed in the Hotel for a long weekend. It is located in a very nice area with easy access to restaurants and shops. The staff is courteous and welcoming. The rooms have been recently upgraded and are beautifully furnished. We struggled a little with the light switches which are electronic and difficult to figure out. The toilets were also electronically controlled with the seat going up when you approach the toilet and some other gimmicks. The hotel has nice seating area and a great restaurant. A swimming pool and a gym area add to the value. This is an amazing hotel, not only because of its location, beauty and elegance, but because of a dedicated courteous helpful staff. Will not stay anywhere else in Montreal.
I'm glad I did. Haven't been in Montreal in years but unexpectedly ended up having to spend the night. They put me in a one bedroom suite which had more room than I expected and the bedroom has a real door seperating the living room section. Well appointed with quality furnishings no all the obligatory (these days) net access and some USB for power. Nicely decorated, modern decor but not too modern, nice balance. Very comfortable bed. Decided to grab dinner at the hotel and was plensetly surprised to find Maison Boulud and this was definetly not 'hotel food' by any stretch. Bsolutely wonderful meal. I don't visit Momtreal much at all and this was i]as I said an unexpected / unplanned 1 night stay. I wasn't in the best mood when I first found out I was going to be "stuck" in Montreal overnight but between the hotel and the restaurant band a few after dinner drinks at the nicely appointed bar) my mood went from lousy to pleasently pleased. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting. Excellent experience.
We spent four days at Ritz Carlton, Montreal, as a special treat for my 60th birthday, at the end of a 16 day holiday in Quebec Province. I had stayed at The Ritz previously, in the 90s, and was keen to go again post-refurbishment. We booked through a third party and paid approx £400 a night for a King signature room, without breakfast. The room itself was spacious, tastefully furnished and quite traditional. The huge bed was fantastically comfortable. The bathroom was very modern with a huge walk-in rainforest shower cubicle, a massive bath, double vanity and, amazingly, a toilet cubicle with a 'Japanese style' toilet which had a choice of cleansing rituals and a heated seat. Very interesting! At night, there was sensor lighting for that nighttime bathroom break. The low lights came on when your feet touched the ground and stayed on (in bedroom and bathroom) until you were back in bed. Terrific! Any niggles I had came from staff who were looking for tips. We arrived in a small Mazda (my niece having met us and given us a lift) and, due to our lowly mode of transport, were completely ignored by the doorman. No offer to help us or to hold open any doors and that particular doorman clearly remembered and always ignored us. I guess our £400 room was cheap in comparison to some and it's true that, at times, we were made to feel like poor relations. We had breakfast in the restaurant ($5.50 for half a glass of carton-tasting orange juice) and eggs benedict that were sent back due to being cold. The waiter had a bad attitude which was evident before the eggs went back and was bordering on rudeness thereafter. However, the good points outweighed the bad and most staff were very pleasant. It was a good experience but would I stay again? Probably not.
