This was my second stay at Hotel Nelligan and I will definitely be returning. Nestled in a perfect location where everything is steps away. The hotel itself is a beautiful mix of old charm and modern amenities. Great restaurants right inside for the times you want to stay in but not miss fantastic cuisine Old Montreal has to offer. Hotel Nelligan is also filled with exceptional, friendly staff. Highly recommend.

5 star Concierge Service

We love this hotel and have been coming here for years! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. This year the concierge went above and beyond for our 45th anniversary. We were presented with a room upgrade, a hand written note of congratulations, a bottle of chilled Prosecco, chocolate covered strawberries and other goodies. How sweet is this fellow! With service and thoughtfulness like that we know we are already thinking of our next visit to the Hotel Nelligan and can’t wait!

The location of Hotel Nelligan is perfect for a stay in downtown Montreal. Staff were helpful, hotel was clean, would definitely stay at Hotel Nelligan again.

I booked on Expedia then comparing the rate I paid to the hotel's advertised rate, found I had paid double the going rate. Mentioned this to staff on registering. They could not do anything they said as I had booked with Expedia. They didn't want to know the rate I paid, and wouldn't reveal the rate they received. Even accounting for an Expedica commission at the top end of 30%. I paid about $200 more than the going rate. I suggested they might present my party with a bottle of wine in our room as a partial compensation. They refused!! That might have cost them an astounding $20 or so. The valet forgot to bring our luggage to our room, as he admitted. There were amenities in the room for one person although it is at least a 2 person room. I mentioned this to the desk. It was not corrected. The concierge was unable to book us at an event at the nearby basilica because he didn't "have the contact" for it. There was a lovely rooftop terrace with music so loud it was impossible to eat there. Although I understand that there are probably only 2 elevators in this heritage property, staff used elevators to transport dirty dishes carts and equipment even in elevators packed with patrons. They didn't wait for a less crowded one and they prioritized their floors over that of the patrons. There was significant construction in front of the hotel - unrevealed on booking. Overall I would say the major problem was the staff, particularly the front desk staff:arrogant and unhelpful.
