Two friends and I had a great stay in the Monterey area at the El Castell Motel! Our room was comfortable, clean, pretty quiet being in an upstairs corner and location and parking were convenient. We specifically chose this motel for the awesome option of 3 beds in one room. The pricing was also great so we could do more on our girls trip!

By far the worst night I have aver had. The mattresses are old and extremely noisy there was a smell in the room that it was hard to deal with.

We reserved the room for three days and requested to clean the room, they didn’t do it not even once during our stay, the microwave didn’t work normal and swimming pool never had warm water. I would never stay at this place again.

Everything was just okay for the price, which honestly felt a bit high for what I got. The biggest disappointment was the bed. In my opinion, the bed should be the best part of a hotel stay, but this one was very uncomfortable. I usually prefer mattresses that have some bounce and softness, but this one was pretty hard and not restful at all. The second worst issue was the window. It only had wooden blinds, and the amount of light that came through at night was unbelievable. By 4 a.m., my room was so bright that I could literally see myself clearly in the mirror. For someone like me who needs complete darkness to sleep well, this was a dealbreaker. I stayed for five nights, but I can honestly say I only got about 4 hours of broken sleep each night. Since I was on an adventurous vacation, I was really hoping for good rest to recharge after busy days, but unfortunately, this hotel didn’t provide that.

All the hotels in this area are super expensive, but this is about as nice a hotel you can get for the price. The room was clean and tidy, no complaints. Very close to the highway which is convenient. Sometimes you could hear planes flying overhead since it's close to the airport but it wasn't loud enough to disturb sleep. The pool is also a nice addition.

Recent Trip

The indoor pool was a major selling poin. AC was perfect and the extra room for my hubby and I while our girls were outside was greatly appreciated. Very close to all major sites.
