Residence Inn by Marriott Moncton3.0 out of 5.0

While this is one of the nicer locations I have been to, staff is friendly and the location is good for finding places to eat on foot. The location itself is right in the heart of Moncton and who knew this place was that busy. The rooms are literly just off the main st and the side street locations aren't any better. The night we were there the cops (must have been untrained) decided to respond to a call at midnight with their sirens blaring. Then they were arresting people on the side street by the hotel and did not turn off the sirens, now I know this is not the fault of the hotel, but if you are a lite sleeper and noise is a problem for you, this may not be your best location. The Tuesday Grill offering was very good, and I was surprised by the quality of the sausages they used. I found the room to be very spacious and clean, and comfortable. Would stay here again but would probably ask for a room that faces the back of the hotel.
Great room with a fully stocked kitchen! I was also very pleased with the self-serve breakfast: fresh fruit, walnuts, almonds, yogurt, waffles, eggs, sausages, soft tortillas, havarti, brie and cheddar cheese.
This hotel is in an excellent location. Close to shopping, dining and nightly entertainment. A very clean and modern establishment and a very courteous and helpful staff. Our room was basically a suite but not at suite prices. We had a king bed but found our bed to be a little soft. Would have liked a firmer mattress. Overall though, the room was very inviting and clean. Parking here is not free and will cost you about 15 dollars. I really liked this hotel but found the unloading area only accommodated one car at a time and you were basically stuck on the street trying to get in to check in. I suggest you drive up to the gate and use the intercom to gain access to prevent a log jam. Someone should be out front directing people in. Would I stay again, yes, and there is a free breakfast included here.
This hotel is a joke. I have been here two weeks. Only could access the internet one night after an hour of trying and getting the front desk involved. Person at front desk said they are getting a new internet service provider in 2018 and maybe then it would work.... Really!!!!! That is your official answer to not having internet for guests????? In 2017 I have to wait to 2018 for service at a Marriott hotel!!!!! Totally, totally not acceptable. Marriott also has a Delta hotel in Moncton. Stay there instead!!!
We spent one night here and were impressed with the quality of the suite. Check in was efficient and the guy at the desk was very helpful. I would have given it 5 stars but thought the pool arrangements need some thought. Maybe it's just me but I want either a robe or a changing room next to the pool not a notice that says don't remove towels from pool area. Anyway the pool and hot tub were nice and we were the only people in there so that was fun! Slept well although there is traffic noise but that's obvious when you book. I thought the beds were exceptionally comfortable!! Great access to a lot of restaurants - we ate at Hibachi- yummy!!! All in all this hotel is a good choice for a stay in Moncton!
Very nice suite, with kitchen facilities (we chose to bring in dinner one evening and the kitchen table & chairs, dishes & cutlery, were much appreciated). Also nice to have a separate sitting area. Location is good, right on the main street of town -- our room faced the street, so it was a bit noisy, with people & traffic. Very good breakfast was also included.
Room was excellent. Very clean and large. The rooms are suite style with a couch small table and kitchenette. We had a king. Check in was fast with no problems, staff was helpful and polite. There is an indoor connection to the Keg steakhouse where we had a fantastic meal. Hot breakfast was included which had lots of add ons: build your own breakfast wrap, waffle maker, scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, beans, and traditional contenintal breakfast items. Specialty coffee add ons available. My one complaint is that the pool rules were not policed. Pool and hot tub were overrun with 20 kids screaming, belly flopping, diving running etc. I can understand a pool area being busy, and children being present, but every Rule posted was ignored and my husband and I were not able to enjoy our time at the pool because of this.
My three children & I, plus two other family members stayed in a one bedroom suite at the Residence Inn on the 6th (top) floor for 5 nights/6 days. This hotel is pet friendly (fee is $75 per stay), clean, close to everything and geared more towards those who enjoy city life. Please note there is no landscaping or green grounds at this hotel - it's literally plopped on a street corner with a parking lot. So if convenience is important to you, Residence Inn meets these requirements. PROS: Staff - The staff was always very friendly, accommodating and very helpful. There was a mistake on our bill as we were leaving (they had charged an extra night) but they quickly fixed this mistake. They also were able to waive the parking fee. Rooms - Our room was clean & mostly newer furniture with full size frige, stove top (no oven), dishwasher and sink with ample cupboard space. The one bedroom suite contains one large queen bed, a flat screen tv, a pull out FULL sofa, large bathroom and kitchen area with table and 2 chairs. As well as a desk and chair. There was also a dresser and one nightstand with storage for clothing and many drawers to keep necessities in the bathroom. It also had a large mirrored closet and separate room with toilet/shower. POOL - There is a 3-5 ft deep saltwater pool which can sometimes be warm and was never really crowded and most people obeyed the rules as is crucial when you have young children/babies. BREAKFAST - The food was okay, but selection was limited. Get there before 730/8 am or else everything will be gone! and it will get super busy. CONS: PARKING - If you get in past 6pm, forget about getting a place to park. The lot was literally packed with no spots and we had three kids to bring to the hotel, so it was crucial that we park within the lot.Twice the staff came out and offered us a reserved spot or their parking space but they have a really issue with the lack of parking spots considering how many guests are at the hotel. This was mostly due to the fact that guests would sometimes have more than one vehicle and take up two spots yet the hotel still gave them parking passes for their second car. I didn't understand this. They do not have a very functional parking arrangement in place. LAUNDRY - There is laundry but you have to pay and the machines are very small and they do not clean/dry well. It is $1.75 for a small load to wash and $1.50 to dry. The good thing is that the machines lock while your load is being washed/dried and you need a room key to enter the laundry room. Room - It was smaller than expected (only one queen bed & pull out sofa. Not much room for a cot at all.). The decor was horrendous with mismatched colors but obviously this is not a problem for most people. The maids also had to be told to vacuum. Many times we had to leave notes to do so, but they followed through with our request. The shower was a bit dirty in the corners as they neglect to do thorough cleaning on many of the appliances and permanent fixtures, but overall it did meet the standards of a 3/4 star hotel. POOL - It was small and it definitely needed to be cleaned. BREAKFAST - The breakfast was very limited, especially for people who eat healthy or are vegan/vegetarian or have a gluten allergy. There was a waffle maker with super sugary batter, my kids liked them but definitely not a healthy choice. There was no real whole wheat bread only white and fake multrigrain. They did have greek yogurt but it was almost always gone and normal yogurt was left. The only thing they switched out every day was the type of fruit which only consisted of two options. One time I swear they used that canned fruit cocktail crap that was absolutely awful and full of sugar. Other than that it just kept switching between grapes, canteloupe and melon. They only had sausage every day, and bacon only once. There was scrambled eggs (which didnt taste that great) and cheese slices. There was oatmeal but of course it was terrible too with some toppings (brown sugar, almonds, walnuts and some other nut). They had two kinds of juice, lots of coffee and what not (which isn't my forte) and Sugar loaded cereals such as corn flakes, fruit loops, raisin bran and some other generic garbage. So if you're family is used to eating unhealthy or you don't care what you eat, then it would be the perfect breakfast. For those who eat organic, natural or raw foods, there was nothing available.
the hotel was great.the desk staff awsome except. for the two younger guys on day shift.rude and un helpfull but the evening lady is awsome very helpfull and polite.the pool was ok hot tub was good..we had a suite as there was 4 in our group.the suit was top notch.great location for the down town.we would return for sure.
I've stayed at many Marriott properties. This is my lowest rating for a Marriott. The breakfast was packed full on 1 day of our stay. The parking fills up, so you may have to go to the desk to park elsewhere. Most hotel parking is open to the rain. We booked the room directly with Marriott about 3 weeks before the trip. Arrived for check-in before 6 pm. They gave us a handicapped room, but didn't tell us. After going to the room, we went back to the desk and asked for a regular room, which we had reserved. Were told we got it because we were staying for only 1 night. Pointed out our stay was 3 nights. Then told the room was assigned early in the morning and couldn't be changed. Then told it was the last room left because we came late (5:45 pm)!! Not likely. My guess is the tour bus customers get the regular rooms first. I would not go back to this location in the future.
