Amazing breakfast !!! Great hotel and room !!! Wonderful location

Too many homeless outside the residence, not enough lighting in the area of the hotel. Small bathroom, the music player/iPod dock did not work, but breakfast was great!!! And the parking situation is kinda weird but was good too, hotel staff was very polite. The hotel elevator smelled like urine because of the carpet inside of it, they need to change them and outside the hotel was dirty.

Enjoyed the stay LA was great. Close to LA Live. Rail service couple of blocks from athletic club.

It a nice place to stay. Good location, easy walk access to lot of restaurants and bars.

The fron desk (Victor) allowed to get in to my room a person invited for me without my authorization and not registered when I was not in the hotel... I am not agree with the way how was handled by the Hotel front desk personal, they assumed this person can get into my room just because the front desk saw us together... thats my security concerns.

Affordable, clean, unique hotel in the heart of downtown. Close to everything. Athletic facilities on site - i.e. indoor lap pool, basketball courts, yoga classes, etc. Speakeasy feel in all the bars and restaurants - very cool. Lots of historical artifacts throughout hotel. Staff was extremely accommodating, very nice to deal with. Will choose this hotel in the future when staying in downtown LA.

We recently stayed there for a night (not longer thank goodness!) and it was a horrible experience. Here are the reasons for my poor rating. 1)The hotel staff (at least the ones we had to interact with) were unfriendly and rude. The guy at the reception was a joke, he acted like we bothered him with our check in instead of welcoming us. Also, we felt the same way when we had breakfast. Serving coffee was a big deal for them. 2)There were only 2 elevators working so it took us a while each time we use them. 3)The room was dark, small and the walls were paper thin as we had to hear other people talking and eventually we had to wake up with their alarm at 6am. It sounded like the people next door getting ready and taking shower in our room. It was so disturbing! 4)The bathroom sink was clogged and it was impossible to wash our hands without waiting it to drain after using it only 5 seconds. The only good thing about the hotel is the location. However, you can stay at a much better hotel nearby for the price you pay for. Save your money and stay somewhere else!

The staff is great, food excellent, room is awesome, location is convenient for the financial district, but not a good alternative for the convention center. Although 7th street has changed dramatically, I would not recommend for a woman travelling alone. I am 6'5 250 and was very vigilant at night. Great rooms and a comfy bed.

Pleasant surprise for downtown LA. Wonderful updated 19th century building. Nice modern room. Very quiet, though my room could hear the rumble from one of the elevators, but not too bad. Would have given the review a 5 if I did not hear the elevator. Room was facing to the backside so I didn't hear any of the typical vehicle traffic. Bathroom a little small, but not unexpected for such an old facility. Great breakfast included in the price. And, great service. Very pleasant staff everywhere. Free WiFi, which is rare for many hotels in downtown. FreeWSJ and USA Today papers. Free use of the awesome athlietic club facilties. Indoor pool on 6th floor, Basketball gym. Running track. Lots of exercise equipment. A very formal facility so I wouldn't recommend bringing young children since it does cater more to business style.

Stayed here one night for business. This place has a lot of old school charm that's not manufactured but a real part of it's history. The room was big, clean, comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. But what I really loved was the pool and the workout facilities. (The rooftop deck was pretty cool too.)

Quality facilities - great staff - good food, and an amazing hotel/athletic club that can be found nowhere else in LA.

Cannot be beat when staying in "Downtown" LA. Staff are great, restaurant and bar are tremendous and having the workout facilities is a big plus.

Stayed here as a stop, over on my way to Asia. The rooms are quite spacious, comfortable, and quite clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend for those staying in downtown LA

Staff was great and the room size was increadible being that it's a down town LA hotel. Free breakfast was nice. Overall great customer service.

Building is old but well kept. Staff was very nice. Rooms were nice and seemed recently updated. Interesting hotel as it's housed atop a private athletic club (think old-school). Lots of character - you could almost feel Coach Wooden's ghost roaming the halls (in a good way). Bar was interesting; food was good. Free buffet breakfast and free wi-fi. Only criticism was that wi-fi wasn't strong enough to watch streaming shows but was adequate for work (emails/company file access/etc). Price was right compared to overpriced competition downtown

Nice room and furnishings but the bathroom needs updating. It's has an old pedestal sink with no place to put toiletries or cosmetics when you are getting ready. The breakfast was really good and the building has interesting interiors. The gym is big but very dated. Feels like pre - 80s. No Valet parking and not convenient from going up and down the stairs from the parking garage with bags just to get to the reception counter. I may or may not stay here again. Free internet.

The hotel staff was amazing. Very classy, quiet place. Clean and on top of things. The gym was a little out dated but it was very clean. The rooms are all updated and have a great bed with great furniture.

The staff is very helpful. Room is clean. Provided infant crib

Well appointed and very comfortable room. The bar and reastaurant are great, staff are all friendly and helpful. The gym and health club are exemplary.

The staff at this hotel was super friendly. Clean rooms and great amenities. I really enjoyed my stay.
