We weren't staying in London for a long time and were just looking for a hotel that had access to Tube stations and this was a good fit. Although we are getting on in years this was an easy and interesting walk to two stations. There were also some very good restaurants close by and some were Takeaway as well. Room was small but we had two single beds a small cooking area and a reasonable amount of cupboard space. Very reasonable price for London. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location excellent; quiet and we were quite happy with it. Certainly not deluxe but suited our needs.
The stay was due to a business conference near Hyde Park. Reception was helpful in sorting out parking which was at the back of the hotel which was one of the reasons to book here. Note: no bar, restaurant so eating out is a must - lots of restaurants within walking distance as is the tube station about 15 mins. Rooms are small, poor decor, tired and need of a revamp. Checking out the gentleman on reception was extremely friendly and helpful!
Stayed for 9 nights for my travel. The staff are friendly however the room is small and alarm was triggered for 3 times during my stay. Not a good experience though. Hope they have done something to improve on it.
Pros: Location Cons: A/C didn't work most of the time. Painful Front desk would just repeat "Madam I am trying to give you good service" The bottom sheet on the bed was too small (every day) and would not keep the mattress covered The mini kitchen was a disaster - Refrig did not work on the bottom but the freezer was over frozen and never clean out so ice build-up The burners on the stove should have been thrown in the trash The faucet wobbled like it was going to blow any minute Holes in the curtains that were hanging by a string - literally Curtain did not go all the way to floor and light came in and kept you awake The shower was so small that I had a hard time fitting into it. And I'm not a big person. Only made for very thin people or small children No soap or any other amenities offered No flannels or washcloths offered - only small and med sized towels Towels had stains
The Royale Chulan was a great location for a great price! The rooms are VERY tiny but comfortable and clean. Comfy bed ... and a kitchenette (could have done without as I wasn't planning to cook especially in the small space). The continental breakfast had lots of choices, just be prepared to commit to a breakfast hour. The breakfast room is small so can't accommodate all guests at the same time should that happen! Staff was friendly and helpful. Easy access to transit and lots of dining options within short walking distance yet the hotel is on a very quiet street!
A bit tight tight but this hotel does the trick : comfortable hard beds, A/C, clean, fridge and microwave in the room and friendly/helpful staff. The hotel is located in a safe neighborhood and easily accessible with public transportation
Impression Exterior building is really classic design. But once you get in; its like… Arrival We arrived on noon. Too early to check in as they do not have any room available. Had to come back around 2PM. Check-in We came back around 2PM and they had the room ready. The Room Located on the basement (there is a lift and a stairs). The room is so small in size and barely fit us 3 persons. The room comes with 3 single bed, and basic pantry. Bed and pillow was not comfortable. The toilet is too small; believed me. Can hardly move around. At least they had the TV working, the aircond and heater too. Breakfast They provide super basic breakfast (coffee, tea, bread, cereal and eggs). You have to book your slot as the breakfast room can accommodate only 4 couples (8 person) at a time (4 table with twin seating). Others Staff were decent but to be honest not too helpful (unlike other Royale Chulan back in Malaysia). Also the reception lady when we first check-in hardly smile. Maybe Royale Chulan management can look into this; as guest experience is vital towards good business in the long run. Overall; i would say it is very pricey.
Got there on June 7th and stayed a week. First time to the UK. The staff were all very nice and helpful with all my questions. I didn't do the breakfast thing there since the front desk said it wasn't the best. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The bathroom was very small and hard to get around in, but I did ok. Now, for the part I didn't like. I was on the ground floor just down the hall from the front desk. Every time someone went up the to the next floor or moved above me it was amplified 10X due to the wooden floors. You could forget about getting sleep between 11pm to 2am due to the noise coming from above. It sounded like those people were having a party and jumping up and down every night. Oh, and the suit case wheels sliding across those wooden floors above me were magnified to the max. "Every Night".... Plus, the AC was loud and made a noise at night. I had to turn it off each night. And I even had ear plugs, but it didn't help much. It got old very quick. If I ever decide to return I'd have to have a room up top with nothing above me.
It’s in a lovely setting and the building is a treat - it ends there. The rooms are small, the bed hard and the amenities sparse. On top of that the sound proofing is almost non-existent - we had a woman upstairs on her phone until 1:30 am and she may as well have been in our room. She then awoke around 5:30am and showered etc and mercifully left the room before 6am (perhaps a worker in the hotel?) she then returned around 8am and started vacuuming. The breakfast room was tiny and self service. If you like one kind of cereal or cold boiled eggs you were fine - we left and found a proper breakfast. As we left, we both felt our souls rising again.
Very good location, in a nice neighbourhood, near Hyde Park and Bayswater station. The room was simple but comfortable, with a small kitchen and basic utensils. The bathroom could be a little bigger. We had a problem with a noisy ventilation system and the receptionist gave us another room in the middle of the night, which solved the problem. The breakfast was good enough, not very sophisticated but good. It's a good option considering the price.
