I booked the hotel for my girlfriends 30th birthday. We loved the fact the room was big and clean. When it came to having a shower I found out there was no running water due to a burst pipe. a engineer was called out but needed a part so couldn't fix it we were taken to a apartment to use the bathroom there was nothing complementary the staff didn't seem too interested. we had no water for about 23 hours of our stay an when the water came on it was only hot water. After coming back from the theatre at 23:30 we were finally moved. worst experience in a 5 star hotel ever!
Booked 1 night for my girlfriend and I for her birthday and unfortunately was disappointed right from the start. Firstly, there is no way this is a 5 star hotel - 3 star at best. However the rooms are decorated fairly well and feel modern(ish) and spacious, but the heating control in our room didn’t work properly so it was far too warm throughout our stay. The bathroom was clean and well kept, but be warned, the shower can get extremely hot and it scolded me when the temperature suddenly changed without warning. The mini bar was well stocked but outrageously priced! £2 for a small packet of crisps?! Daylight robbery! Equally, the breakfast was a complete rip off - charging £14.95 for a simple full English is ridiculous, especially given the quality. Such a shame as overall it could be a lovely hotel if they cleaned it up a bit and made the food and drink options better/cheaper. If you’re easily pleased and don’t mind being fleeced then this is the place for you! Otherwise you’re better off at a Premier Inn!
We only booked this the day before New Year's Eve. The main purpose was to find a hotel that we could watch the London fireworks from the comfort of a hotel, knowing we could have a meal, drinks and not far to go to bed. We managed to get a package of one night's accommodation and 3-course dinner at the on site restaurant of Banyan on the Thames with a view of the fireworks from the 14th floor of the hotel. Although It provided everything we asked for I must point out a few things. The hotel was clean and room spacious, albeit one on its own behind the spa reception on the 3rd floor which caused us problems as the lift was not working after midnight and we had to take a detour which was confusing. It is an Eco friendly hotel and we found the lighting extremely dark , ie my husband was trying to iron his shirt but could not see the creases and it was difficult for me to see to put my make-up on! The check-in was not very informative, nor was there any information in the room so we had not idea where anything was that was on their website. The restaurant did not have our booking either and one of the waiters actually threw something in the back office when a waitress showed us to a table for 4 instead of 2, although we were happy to move. The food was reasonable for the price and the date. The cocktail bar was fabulous and the head barman, sorry I cannot remember his name, made the evening for us. Such a lovely character and the cocktails were really good. Confusion again trying to get to the relevant floor to see the fireworks but we managed it and it was really worth it. Confusion again on check-out with being overcharged but this was rectified by the manager and we also had a lift to the tube station. Overall a good stay but the staff do need further training in customer service and to be friendlier. Would I stay again, probably not.
Would give 0 stars if it was an option. Hotel was dirty. The spa was not a spa it was a shoe box all areas were dirty. The restaurant was again tacky dirty and service was shocking. Food was terrible. Shocking! Dirty! Poor management! Defo not 5*
I recently stayed here for my anniversary. I purchased a voucher via Groupon that entitled us a night stay with 3 course meal at the in house restaurant. Well the room was ok but we couldn't control the room temperature. The restaurant is the biggest no no. Also the spa area is really small only 4 people could actually fit in there. Don't think I'll be returning..
Stayed over Christmas night and we were rather limited in choice of hotels as we had a small dog. However we were delighted with the Rafayel and the service given. It was helpful that it had its own underground car park. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was well appointed. Breakfast was a little expensive but proved to be well worth it as it was all freshly cooked to order and not the usual hot buffet. Will certainly stay again when next in London.
I booked 3 tickets for new year eve there. They had mentioned to give buffet in that. However they gave 2 veg and 3 non veg snacks only. And staff was giving only 2 pieces of snacks to one person. Amazing to see new meaning of buffet. London fireworks would be seen from 14 floor and unthinkable that lift was not working. We used stairs to climb up and down. People were falling down due to this and w remained hungry due to their poor management and service. Not recommended at all for any service.
I’d been for a Spa treatment here and loved it so when told there was a jazz event at the same venue I foolishly expected the same sort of ambience and enjoyment. Not so! Went for an event with my partner and another couple on 30/12/17. Billed as a jazz event with a 3 course meal. The starter was alright the main never arrived and the Dinner was a joke. Staff were unable to cope with the guests, orders were missed and food very slow in coming out and inedible! However credit must be given to the manager who apologised as they’d over booked and went out of his way to ensure that we were at least able to get some edible food and complimentary drinks. The jazz event was filled with guests talking over the artistes music and the billed acoustics part never happened. We were also squirrelled off into a private room and did not get to see the jazz artiste despite being told he’d walk through and it was obvious that a lot of the guests who attended and were seated had no tickets. Security was lax and tickets weren’t checked or ticked against any list! Apart from the above parking is restricted only to residential guests, though the hotel website doesn’t make this clear. Location of the hotel is beautiful and from the restaurant we did have a good view. The bar is lovely but they do need to be careful about private events that they bankroll.
Stayed here a few times now,the hotel itself is quite nice and reasonably priced, however the staff in the bar/restaurant are appalling...Very unwelcoming and look like they can’t be bothered to work there.Ordered a club sandwich which took 45 minutes to arrive and we was the only ones in the restaurant...Not once did we see any of the waiters/bar men smile or be helpful..Quite disappointing considering we are regular guests here.i would of given this hotel a 5 star but I was left feeling really uncomfortable during our time at the bar where we was actually celebrating our anniversary.Felt like we wasn’t welcome...
If I were to travel to London again, the last place I would think to stay is this hotel. After reading such positive reviews online however, I felt at ease when I first made the booking. What we experienced though at this hotel was a room that was cold, a dodgy electric box in the room which left us without lights for a good portion of our stay, and being overcharged at the start of our stay by the woman at the reception. I found the whole car park situation to be a farce, as you’re told you’re not allowed to access your car without supervision, and a decor which looked cheap and tacky. The location isn’t ideal either if you are looking for a nice city break to London, as it is so far away from the centre of London that it takes forever to get anywhere. Please avoid this hotel at all costs, could’ve stayed in nicer hotels for a cheaper price. Not 5 stars at all.
