Park Grand London Hyde Park

The room was smaller that the one in the photo on the reservation page. It was clean but had lamp shades that were damaged and felt the hotel had been a bit overrated in the reviews. Hotel staff was nice and the location was safe and convenient.

Only 8-10 mins walk from Paddington station. Convenient location. Room was very very small though. I don't know if that was normal for London but very small room, bathroom etc. Most of the staff was very nice and friendly, and probably deserve a raise. It's only hotel infrastructure that you can't do much about. Overall 3.5 is fair rating.

Tired after a long flight from States. Arrived 30' prior to check in time. Assigned available room in the basement. No view. Disappointed. Good breakfast.

The fellow who helped us with our check in was a bit grumpy which got us off to a bumpy start. He also accidentally charged us for breakfast when we told him not to. The hotel, rooms (2 of them) were very nice for the price. Other staff were friendly and helpful. Location is ideal, being near Paddington Stn, and tubes for London. Would stay here again.

Great locaion, great price-quality balance. Staff is good and friendly, room is clean.

About 5 blocks from subway station. Area safe for walking. Good size flat screen TV, but mattress could be better. Bathroom small, but adequate and bigger than expected, also facilities all nice and new. Breakfast not provided to us since we used internet booking agency, wanted 12-15 pounds to buy it, when on street great breakfasts offered with coffee/tea for only 5.50. Would stay there again.

Our stay at the park grand was very comfortable and we were pleasantly surprised by the comfort and cleanliness. I was disappointed only on the last day when I realized I was charged twice for my room and the staff forgot my requested wake up call. The hotel itself is really nice but I think the staff needs improvement and they didn't prove helpful at all.

There was nothing wrong with this hotel, and the location was good. I just have no idea where the four stars come from--for this, one would expect a restaurant, bar, room service, pool, etc. Instead, this is a standard London hotel in a converted house, with very small rooms (mine looked nothing like the pictures), with none of the above amenities. This was fine with me--I was out most of the time and didn't need a huge room, it was clean, there are restaurants quite nearby, and the price was right. Four stars is a very misleading description, though--this was a standard two-star hotel.

The hotel was in a pretty good location with the Paddington Underground less then a 5 minute walk away. It was an ok hotel if you are not planning on spending any amount of time in it beside sleeping. The rooms were very small, though I expected that. The walls are extremely thin and people are typically very loud in the morning and you can hear everything. The rooms were fairly clean although I did see mold in the shower. One thing that I was a bit put off by was the lack of knowledge from the staff. Since we were from out of the country, we asked them on a few different occasions about places around London. The staff really had no knowledge of London and where things were around the area. I would think that being a hotel they would need to know at least what there was around the hotel. It was not a horrible experience but I will most likely not stay at this hotel again. I will try my luck elsewhere.

The hotel lost our booking, but this is not about that. They placed us in a room starting with "00", in the basement, if that helps set the stage. The room was 10x10 and the bathroom could hardly be called a bathroom. The shower had two settings: cold and scalding; but the scalding was only apparent after a 10-minute warm-up time. We complained to the front desk about the shower being cold and they said the building was just old, and to let the water run for 5 minutes. The wifi was only available in the lobby, which was not what I understood from the Amenities section.[...].This hotel is ABSOLUTELY not a 4-star hotel. I cannot stress enough how much I one should avoid booking with this hotel. I know it is also part of a chain, so I will also regard the chain with some suspicion.

While the location is excellent - walking distance to Paddington Station - there is no way the location offsets the tiny, and I mean tiny, dimensions of the room. My walk-in closet at home is roughly the same dimensions as this room. There was no way to hang up my garment bag. The wardrobe was so shallow hangers had to be at an angle. The shower was so confined my elbow kept hitting the control, alternately shutting off the water or shutting off the hot water. I have been in cruise liner cabins with more space than this room. This is not the hotel for anyone with any tendency at all to claustrophobia.
