Rooms are too small. Location is reasonable but there are both better hotels and great airbnb apartments for the same cost

The hotel is very, very ordinary. The room sizes are atrociously small even for London. It happened to be some of the warmest days in London this summer and the A/C did not work. I left a message the first day at the front desk which they promptly forgot all about. The next day I walked back with their maintenance guy to the room. He did very little other than confirm that the A/C is not working and opened the windows. Duh! Then I had a billing issue for breakfast that I had specifically explained and asked to be taken care of the night before checking out. On the day of checkout I realized nothing was done. Basically, the staff did NOTHING of what I requested and could not have cared less about me even if they wanted to. They thought their job was to just show up to work and do the bare minimum to get through their day. To add the final insult to injury, I was finally told that no Accor points would accrue for my stay as I had booked through Expedia. Wow! Never experienced that before! Thoroughly disappointed overall.

Mercure-Paddington is a great hotel and great location. Super easy as it's next door to Paddington Station for the tube, train and Heathrow Express.

Overall, this hotel was a good value. I stayed for 3 nights for a vacation with my mother (in her 60s). The best feature of the hotel is the location (right next to Paddington Station). This is especially convenient for anyone flying into Heathrow and taking the Heathrow Express or Connect to central London. It is also a convenient location for getting around London via the Tube. As with all London hotels, the room was tiny, but it had all the amenities you'd expect. In addition, it is one of the few hotels that have AC in the area. The only downside of this hotel is that it is somewhat noisy as it is so close to the train station and St. Mary's Hospital. If you are a light sleeper the sounds of the trains and occasional ambulances may disturb your sleep.

A well kept hotel with friendly staff in a very convenient location next to the entrance of Paddington Station.

This is indeed a very nice hotel - lots of bathroom amenities, bathrobes, slippers, etc., but my room was quite small even by European standards; I was by myself so this was no big deal, but I really doubt that two could stay. The hotel is litterally next door to Paddington, which I found great as I used its Heathrow Express to get to the airport, which is much less arduous than staying our near there and having to take the shuttles. And I used the Paddington Underground station to get around the city - very convienient. The hotel has a tiny bar which I found convenient. And it has a restaurant attached - I don't recall the name - but this was also helpful. But I got lots of eats right in Paddington, there is quie a variety.

The room was very small, but the hotel is right by Paddington station which was what I needed.

The hotel is located right next to the Peddington station. It is very convinent just to drop you luggage and start to explore London. The room size is small, a typical London hotel room, but it is clean and has a shower room. For less than $150 it is a great value.

I went to hotel, and they told me no reservation and how orbits accept reservation and we have no rooms.after one hour they change me to hotel quality crown kenigston.

Couldn't be a more convenient location right next door to Paddington station. Plenty of local activity, restaurants, etc but not too noisy. Well maintained, up to date, comfortable BUT.... ...the room stank of pipe tobacco! I immediately asked for a new room with no luck. All I got was a free can of spray to mask the smell. I sprayed all surfaces - walls, windows, ceiling, carpet but still had chest and sinus congestion and a raw throat the next morning. If I had had enough time, I would have moved to another hotel when they wouldn't give me a clean room.

My mother, who is in her 80s, and I have taken several trips to London and always stayed at Bed and Breakfasts in the Paddington area. We wanted to upgrade to a chain hotel with elevators, so mom wouldn't have to carry luggage up staircases. We remembered seeing this place from our last trip and decided to try it. [...] This is not a place for tourists, but I'm sure it is fine for business people who just want to be close to the train station. We asked where to find a laundromat in walking distance and the front desk staff did not know and were not interested in helping us find one. I had to search online at the internet cafe across the street. Next time we will pay the higher rates at the Hilton and be comfortable and stay where there is a staff that is courteous and helpful for American tourists.

While the hotel was very convenient to Kensington Station, we can't recommend it for a couple reasons. The rooms were clean but very small, even by London standards, and the so-called "king-size bed" was smaller than the queen-size mattresses we've had in other hotels in the city. It was more like a double bed. When we called down to ask about it, we were told the room had a "contemporary king" mattress. Fit for Napoleon, perhaps, but not a king. Also have to wonder why a "business hotel" didn't have internet access on site. You had to go across the street to an internet cafe to get online.

Arrived from Toronto at 9 p.m., Heathrow Express to Paddington, cross the street and there is the hotel. Also good location for trip to St Pancras and Chunnel Room was "compact", as most London hotels. Restaurent on ground floor very convenient.

The internet service using the hotel television screen did not work properly and the hotel wanted to charge us for the internet not provided. This incident was was only one attendant at the hotel.

Stayed here during a trip to London 3 yrs ago so returned due to convenient location relative to trains, underground and buses. Staff is helpful too. They kept our bags while we traveled about with our backpacks. Typical hotel noise of slamming doors and a slight rumble of the underground trains. A sound spa cancels this problem.

When I first arrived, they did not have my reservation. It turned out to be no big deal after they faxed my [...] confirmation e-mail. The room was rather small but fine for two nights. The street was very busy and a bit loud. The location was unbeatable. It was literally just steps from Paddington. Very convenient for catching the Heathrow Express for an early flight. My other problem was when I checked out, the hotel clerk didn't believe I had already paid through [...]. We settled that pretty quick by asking another employee.

very disappointed in the hotel and no doubt the staff did the best they could, on and off power for the two days I was there and no hot water except for the morning I checked out. Thank God! The staff was undeniably wonderful but not there fault. [...]

The staff were extremely helpful and courteous. The location is outside of the downtown area, but several direct buses stop out front, as well as the tour buses. The tube is next door, as well as the train station. Yet the hotel was quiet and comfortable. The person maintaining our room was not perfect but the room itself was clean and comfortable. There was also a grocery at the station and several pubs and fast food within a block. I did not rate the housekeeping highly, though they did keep the room clean. I would stay there again without a doubt.

this is a great hotel and value I would strongly recommend this hotel. Its in a central location and its right next to the tube and train station, this helps for getting around the city. the staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms were very clean. there were lots of wonderful extras in the room, for example a nice flat screen tv.the only thing is the rooms are small, where I stayed by myself was small, I cant imagine 2 people staying in the room where I stayed. There are lots of small cafes and resturants all around. it can be a bit noisy because its right next to the street. I traveled to other places and let me tell you I didnt find the quality I got at this hotel. I will definetly stay there next time I go back to london.

Paddington station & underground---just cross the street. Btrakfast--a nice restaurant is on the ground level, McDonald is right at the next door. The hotel is at a busy intersection and next to train station, but inside the room is surprisingly quiet.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Mercure London Paddington. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. I am sorry to hear that you found the room that you reserved to be small. The size of the rooms are clearly marked on the website that you had booked through so that you can make an informed decision on what is best for your requirements. We do have several different room types at the hotel ranging from single rooms to executive king size rooms. About the air condition maintenance engineer will be informed to check the fault and to get it fixed, here I would like to request you to email me your full name so I can further investigate the room number. I'll speak to my nights team as you've mentioned that you had explained the staff something about the breakfast but they didn't take care of. I'll really appreciate if you can email me your full name on ( h8062-gm@accor.com) and I'll further investigate with the team member who has ignored your request. I would like to clear something about the le club points as its an accor policy to credit the loyalty points if a booking has been done with accor hotels and not via agency. As a gesture to the inconvenience caused I'll credit 1000 points on your le club account if you can please forward me your full name. At Mercure, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent future occurrence. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. Sincerely, Mercure London Paddington Team
