Definitely when I booked this room I was guided by the pictures they have posted. Yet,I knew It was not going to be as exceptional as one sees, but the surprise came when we saw first hand that it is very deceiving. The location is the best part, at Courtfield Garden W, a three minute walk to Earl"s Court tube station and there you find all kinds of restaurants, coffe shops etc...the building is a typical Kensington style four level building. But the rooms are old and smells like mold. Only one toilet {bathroom} on the whole floor and two dinky showers {one of them plugged and of course not usable}.Mattress springs were killing me. No common area, no kitchen No Nothing!!!

A really cozy hostel, clean and with a common room furnished with a tv and a microwave and a kettle for cooking your food. It's located at 1 minute walking-distance frome the tube station of Earls Court. The reception is open 24h and the staff is always available for helping. All of that for a really low price. The perfect place to be in London.

Worst place I've ever stayed in!!! Stayed here at the start and end of our trip. Paid far too much for a substandard room Issues - no curtains - no clean sheets - water dripping from he tap onto floor - no showers working on our floor - 2nd floor showers 1/3 worked - whole place was a mess - a continuos construction zone Disgusting place The old good thing for them - location Absolute CRAP BOX!!!!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

I have just stayed at Barkston rooms Hostel for 1 night following a visit to London for shopping. I arrived earlier than I first thought. I had a Speedy check in with clear directions to my room. I paid £30 for single room- it was located on 3rd floor building one. ( there were stairs but I enjoy walking). My room was off a corridor with a clean, stocked shared toilet. 2x Showers and 2 further toilets at end of corridor too. My room was clean, had a sink, chest of drawers, mirror , window and wardrobe. Plenty of hooks to hang items on back of door! My bed was made! Huge privilege at a hostel, thank you. I took a flask with me and filled it up in my room and took it down to use the kettle. I also bought a micro pasta meal and heated in micro.. i choose to eat in communal area. ( there is a coffee machine, tv and approx 10 tables). Id advise taking an extension lead if you need to charge your devices. Staff were friendly and hostel was located at a convenient location. (Earls court tube, Mc Donald's, bank, pharmacy less than a 5 minute walk). I was dubious about staying following some of the comments. I would recommend staying here and would say if you are thinking its not for you ask yourself what is it that your wanting. I rate this 5/5 for friendliness, excellent location. Well equipped room, garden and for making me feel welcome! Thank you to all at Barkston Rooms.

I was charged over 100 UKP for a dorm room. Wifi was fine, dorm was clean, showers and toilets clean. There are absolutely no kitchen facilities, no sink, no cups, no cutlery. Location excellent. I think I was overcharged because I booked at the last minute.

I loved the location and everything is good and the price is also very good, staff are very helpful and they also try do their best to help you. Overall you get what you pay for especially when rooms as as cheap as £12.

As a solo female frequent traveller , I have stay in different type of hotels all around the world from a budget hotels ,middle range as well as a luxury ones and in London alone, I have stay in 12 different hotels but nothing can beat the amazing price, cleanliness ,comfort, security, location, services of Barkston Rooms. This is my second time staying at Barkston Rooms and this time I decided to stay longer in London and Barkston room offer the cheapest accomodation for a double room. Eventhough the room is not ensuite but the toilet is just outside the room and there is a sink in the room which makes it very convenient for me. I have stayed at room 1102 and it has been a pleasant stay. The location is great. The Earls court underground is just 3mins away and there are bus stops that connects most of the places in central london. Harrods is just two stops via underground, is just 20mins away by bus & 30 mins walk. Marble Arch and Oxford Street is just 35mins via bus and Westfield Shepard Bush is just 20mins away via Bus. As for the cleanliness, it is the best. The toilet is being clean most of the time which is very important for me. The staffs have been very helpful. From the reception to the house-keeping , they all are wonderful and reliable. If I were to rate this accomodation, I would say this is the luxury budget accomodation. This accomodation DO NOT deserve poor rating because it is the best cheapest accomodation that offers the best service, location ,good security and cleanlines you could ever find in central london. The reception team has been doing a great job as well. Especially the receptionist manager, Ryad and his team . They have been very accomodating and helpful . I highly recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a best value accomodation in central london.' This review is sincerely from me, someone who have genuinely experience staying in different of hotel around the world . So, when I say it is the best, it is certainly the best ;) -Nuur

While the price may have been decent, it was definitely not worth it. Firstly, the bathrooms and showers were just horrible. The shower that I used (because there wasn't any room to get to any other showers in the girls' showers) had a broken hose and nowhere to put any of your toiletries, making me balance them on top of the shower door (also broken and constantly banging against the wall). Both the showers and the bathrooms had almost zero privacy. I've stayed in hostels before, I get the limited privacy thing but come on! In a bathroom! Additionally there was only one common area in the whole place so when there was a private party there weren't even chairs in the lobby to chill or have takeout in. To make matters worse, it's kind of far out from London's main hub. Not the hostel's fault and this normally wouldn't bother me, but with everything else on top of this it just made my stay here very uncomfortable.

I work in London 8 months of the year, I have stayed in pretty much every hotel in London... including 5 star hotels with work. Barkston rooms isn't the dorchester, it's not a 5 star quality hotel, but it is a 5 star value and here's why You'll love it... I work in Knightsbridge 12 hours almost every day, I finish work, I walk back to barkston it takes me 20mins... I've hardly spoke to anyone all day and I feel pretty deflated to say the least!... I get to reception at Barkston and I'm greeted by friendly helpful staff from cleaner to manager! I spend at least 20mins chatting to everyone and walk away enthusiastic, happy and ready for another hard day at work... The characters and personalities that work here are better than any other hotel work force in London!! For that reason alone is why I never want to leave! It is by far the the friendliest-best value place to stay in all of London! What else? - The value here is unrivalled! The staff will always give you the best deal! - Problems? Speak to reception, they always help! - Location!!!!! Could not be better placed for walking or tube locations into the best bits of the city! - Refurb! The refurbishments being made are amazing! They're pumping a lot of time, effort and finances into giving us a more boutique-esk experience! I'm really impressed!! And before you read any negative reviews let me reassure you, the new and improved refurb at barkston gives 5 star value! You won't be disappointed with what your money has bought you! Enjoy! Scott, 28, London.

Where to start ? ... the location was very convenient close to central by tube (which is a 2 minute walk from the hostel) and local buses running throughout the night. 24 hour desk so there is no curfew... security always present which made me feel very safe.. Reception desk always welcoming and helpful.. the breakfast was delicious and fulfilling.... I was definitely on a budget arriving to London so I didn't really expect much when I arrived to the Hostel, however soon as i stepped in i was blown away and continued to be more and more impressed as the nights went on. Thank you to everyone in Barkston Rooms you have definitely got yourself a loyal customer from now on :)
