We stayed here just for the one night and after reading the reviews were a little apprehensive about it. However, we were pretty happy! The place is in a great location, it’s nice and quiet, the rooms are basic but exactly what I would expect for the money. Would definitely stay again if travelling to London on a budget. My only complaint would be that the lock didn’t work on the toilet and shower, but it was very quiet and the rooms were small enough to hold the door shut anyway. Not ideal but could totally cope with that. As long as you don’t expect champagne on a tap water budget you’ll be happy here.
We have just stayed at Barkston rooms from July 4, to July 8. Very convenient location in London. Near tube station and other facilities. The staff is nice and willing to help. Very good relation quality - price. I recommend it.
Booked a single room with shared bathroom, and the room was basically a hole in the wall. A bed that wasn't touched during my 5-day stay. The water in the room was non-drinkable, and the showers where few and on another floor. Also, only one power socket and almost hidden by the cupboard. There's literally a lightbulb hanging from the ceiling. The staff was very non-helpful, didn't tell me anything about breakfast schedule or any other useful things. For breakfast you need a "voucher" which you have to take from reception, but it's actually a post-it note that says "breakfast". Speaking of the breakfast, it's very lacking.
I find very good hotel in my budget. I saw the picture of the hotel and it is realistic image then I saw the rating in the facility which is provided in the hotels is nice.when when I was booking the hotel that is a cell is running so I get 50 more than 50% discount so I am very happy.
I went into my stay (8 person mixed dorm) with hope despite the overwhelmingly negative reviews. Staff was fine, the building is quite a maze (no elevator - keep in mind if you have heavy/many bags), the room and bathroom were decently clean. WiFi was speedy as well (something I as a millennial greatly appreciate). The biggest downside for me? There are no outlets in the rooms. Not even in the bathroom. There is one measly USB port on the underside of the reading light in each bunk (took another customer pointing it out for me to even find), which I guess is useful. In conclusion, there’s no way I could stay at this place for more than a day or two at a time. Without outlets, I had no way to dry or straighten my hair and, as such, couldn’t shower. Also had a very unpleasant sleeping experience with my bunk mate, but that is not the hostel’s fault. 2/5 - did what I needed it to do but still managed to disappoint my low expectations.
Booked a single room and I was given a 2 bunkbed room. The corridor outside the room smells badly of cigarette smoke. The room walls are extremely dirty. The lock on the door is broken. For a solo traveller it is not safe. The shared toilet is very bad. The pictures on the website is not the same as in reality. Leaking toilets, spit on the floor and toilet bowl, smells badly of cigarette smoke, very unsafe shower room. Dirty bathroom. The location is excellent though.
I needed a room overnight while I visited London, and Barkston Rooms was cheap and conveniently located near a tube station. The receptionist was helpful in providing precise directions to my room on the 2nd floor (the building is a bit of a maze!) and the room itself was basic but clean. Toilets and showers are shared, but were in good condition when I was there, as were the communal corridors. I can't comment on the condition of the dorm rooms, but for a quick stay I'd definitely go back again.
Room without power. No heating in March, so the room was ice cold. Generally dirty. The locks in the bathrooms and showers didn’t work. Dodgy guests. Not a pleasant experience at all. Stay far away. It’s not worth it at all.
I stayed at this hostel Friday and Saturday night Feb 22 to 24 Feb, I booked through Superbreak it was cheap so I didn't expect the Ritz but expected it to be clean got sent to a dorm and crashed for an hour, sheets had been slept on before me, i then asked reception for clean sheets and went for food upon returning went to dorm and found it had been rented to someone else I ,got given another bed when I complained to recpetion that was in another house around the corner
