Yeah sure the hotel looks a little bit like a mistake when you first arrive but once you get to the reception and meet their friendly reception that soon goes away! The lift is tiny and we had to go separately with our luggage, but the rooms are clean, beds are reasonably comfy. I don’t think there is anything else you really need that this hotel doesn’t offer!
The impression before coming into the hotel is bad because the entrance is decade with a very small lift. The reception is on the 2nd floor (R floor); however, when came into the receiption, you will feel it is warm and stylish. The rooms are nicely new and clean, especially the bathroom. It could be a bit noisily if you have a room faced the road. Beside, this hotel is good for value. The location is good as it is close to the shopping area, if you like, you can even walk to the train station in 15 minutes. The hotel if give you a free pass for local bus, so basically you don’t need to worry about local traveling beside you may want to go visit other towns. Overall, highly recommended to stay.
Indian travelers - Read this 1.) Hotel s average- Rooms are not very big but the hotel s maintained well 2.) Location is good- very close to the train station 3.) Indian restaurant Kanchi right opposite the hotel 4.) Bus stop right in front of the hotel 5.) Lot of eating options outside Cons: 1.) Bfast was quite ordinary - not much options ( but surprisingly this hotel offered us Maggie noodles (actual maggie packets ) for bfast. Overall, if you want a budget hotel and a good location you can choose this one!!
The hotel is located five minutes from the train station. The receptionist was very nice, friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice, spacious and clean continental breakfast included every morning. Bus stop in front of the hotel to Lucerne train station.
Even though the hotel street sign looks a little dated and not very welcoming, this is a hotel worth a visit if on a budget. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. We shared the attic room for 3 persons and was adequate for our stay. This room could be very warm in the summer months. Overall a pleasant experience if Lucerne is stretching your finances.
Rooms are very clean and functional. we had issue with bathtub drain and was rectified immediately. rooms are spacious with enough seating space for 5. Hotel is 15 min walking distance from train station. walk from train station to hotel is beautiful. hotel has good internet. indian restaurant Kanchi is right across the hotel. On checkin received coupon to travel free in the buses in Lucerne. there is a small shopping area on the ground floor and has a subway restaurant.
I returned this week for a mini-break to the excellent, privately run Ambassador Hotel.I was not disappointed!! The owner continually strives to improve his product and it shows! The little touch of Welcome and a smiley face on the bathroom mirror, for example, the free bus ticket for local journies around Lucerne, another. My stay was to its usual excellent standard. The Bedrooms are spotlessly clean.Indeed mine had recently been retiled to a superb standard. There is a mini-bar,free wifi, flat screen television ,radio, and free bottles of water on your arrival.Free breakfast is included in the price, served either in the Ambassador breakfast room until 11am or in the Restaurant Lapin, housed within the De-La -Paix Hotel.I had many lunches in the Lapin Restaurant, excellent market fresh ingredients and expertly cooked. My very favourite is the veal liver served with Swiss rosti! The Hotel is 10 minutes distance on food from the Train Station.I delightful walk in itself over the bridge by the magnificent glacial Lake of Lucerne. The owner told me he is considering changing several bathrooms into a walk in shower, rather than a shower over the bath.I,for one, embrace this idea,as when one gets to a certain age a walk in shower is a boon! So,having returned yesterday I cant wait to return in the very near future.I recommend this Hotel most highly and wish the owner every success in the future. The Hotel was full throughout my stay.A sure sign that the Hotel is very well liked by returning, and new guests!
The hotel was ok. The room was nice but had absolutely no AC. The window barely cracked open from the top so we couldn't get much air flow. We stayed in July and it was definitely hot. We wouldn't stay here again just because there's no AC. If they had AC we would probably stay again.
In UK terms I would describe this as more Premier Inn than city boutique, but like PI it was clean and well fitted. The breakfast was a bit more basic than at the other hotels on our trip. Fruit tea and hot drinks available from the reception / breakfast area. It is a sister hotel to the Hotel de la Paix next door and it is possible to use a balcony passage to get from one to the other to use the Restauarant Lapin where we had a good meal.
The Ambassador is located very near the lake, the Lion Monument, a grocery store (Coop), several restaurants, and small shops. Rooms are clean and modern, room size was good, bathroom was large enough, and beds were comfortable. There was also a fridge but no coffee maker. Breakfast was average for Switzerland - mainly a cold buffet with meats, cheese, boiled eggs, tomatoes, cereals, fruits, yogurt, and various breads. The TV was relatively small for a room its size. A major negative was that there was no AC. A large pedestal fan was provided but with temperatures over 82 in the room, it was very uncomfortable. The hotel provides a free transport card which we did not use since we were able to walk most anywhere. If AC is important to you, you would have to look elsewhere and probably choose a 4 or 5 star hotel. Parking is available for a fee at an underground garage next to the hotel.
