We checked in and went to our room. The smell of smoke in our non smoking room was bad. There were cigarette burns in the comforter. When we pulled back the comforter there were pubes in the bed. I tried to call the front desk and the handset did not work but the speaker phone did. I took pictures and will post. They did have us change rooms. The second room at least smelled better and looked clean. My wife got up and took a shower in the morning and when she pulled the curtain there was a dry dirty wash rag hanging on the curtain rod. I have stayed at Red Roof Inns before and I know it’s not the ritz, but I do at least expect it to be clean. This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The front desk clerk told me that he would have the GM call me three days later I still have not heard from them.

There were soda stains on much of the furniture and bed spread and general room cleanliness was not ideal. The check-in staff was quite friendly and general attitude of the staff was positive.

very nice room with fridge and microwave. Clean and comfortable. I would stay again. Decent price.

Body itching after shower. Toilet nasty phone not working ice bucket dirty bugs near door and inside. Worst stay at red roof won't recommend hotel to no one

The room was not clean. Old soap in the shower and on the sink. Hair balls on the floor.

Overall the room was disappointing. It was not well cleaned and we found the slip for the room keys of the previous patrons on the desk. I do not believe the staff ever cleaned our room during our stay, however we did get fresh towels daily. If you need a place to stay this is fine, but I would not recommend it.

There was someone else's garbage in the waste basket. The non smoking room had a lingering odor of cigarette smoke, the air conditioner was so nosey it was hard to sleep and the floor drain left a quarter inch of water on the bathroom floor.

I moved to this hotel because the Red Roof Inn East Kalamazoo was so filthy. At first glance, this hotel seemed very nice. The staff was nice and accomodating when I asked to preview the room BEFORE deciding to check in. The room looked and smelled clean from where we were. However, after I got checked in aND settled down to watch TV, I couldn't get warm. The air-conditioning wouldn't turn off, and the heat wouldn't turn on. In addition, the hotel handy-man was making a LOUD commotion in the adjoining room and yelling at someone. I called the front desk, and they were nice, again, and offered to find me another room. By this time it was about 4p and close to my meeting time. The room they moved me to was directly connected to a portion of the hotel that was boarded up and scary. When I inquired, the manager mentioned that they were making repairs and did that to keep critters out. She said no one would be in there. I reluctantly stayed, to my dismay. Although the room had been "cleaned," the area rug smelled spoiled and was wet. Also, there were Beetles crawling from outside in, because the door and heater had spacing in between. I stayed, but I barely slept. You the next morning, Ants were crawling around the trashcan (I didn't even eat in the room!) and bugs were crawling on the walls. I also didn't take a shower because the floor board had peeled away from the wall to reveal black mold, which was also in the shower cracks and on the ceiling. Red Roof needs a makeover.

Front counter women there was a little snippy looked like she was over her job for the day

This 2-star motel was a 3-star in all aspects but the breakfast, which consisted of oranges and coffee. That hurts when you have a small meals per diem but hardly a deal breaker. The motel is recently renovated and is clean with modern lighting, a good number of electrical outlets for all our phones/tablets/laptops and laminate floors instead of aging, nasty carpet. The TV channel selection was good, the area was quiet and the experience was positive. I plan to stay there again when coming to Western Michigan University.

The bed was very comfortable and the room clean. The staff were accommodating. This hotel always has coffee in lobby and my room had a coffee maker. Most of all, the location of this hotel is excellent. Quick access to downtown and airport, and best of all, it's right off the 2 major highways. Parking can get a little short of available spaces. Overall though, excellent for price.

Good overall experience. Had a minor issue with temperature control in the room, but it didn't ruin the stay. Could have done a better job with clearing exterior walkways of snow and ice, but understand the weather conditions that weekend occurred quite rapidly. However, I would still recommend this hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful.

room was clean and in good condition. Staff were friendly and helpful. Everything we needed to spend the night on the road.

I have children attending college in Kalamazoo so I have visited the city several times. I have stayed in a number of different motels. I spend most of the time with the kids so the hotel is really just for sleeping. For this trip I was upgraded to a "King's Room", featuring King's size bed, work desk, refrigerator and microwave. That was nice. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The only real problems were with the staff. Upon arriving I asked for an extra blanket. The front desk said they would send one right up. I waited over an hour without receiving one before having to go out. I stopped at the desk and picked one up hours later. The cleaning staff in the morning was quite loud. I like to sleep in a bit but was awakened by them pounding on neighboring doors before 9 each morning asking if they needed service. There were no "Do Not Disturb" signs available. They also were noisy wheeling their carts around. They also always left an empty laundry cart at the bottom of the stairs in the morning, partially blocking the exit. On a previous stay there I was able to use the neighboring gym, the mote itself has no exercise facilities. I asked about it this trip and the staff said they didn't know if that was still possible.

Hotel was close to Western Michigan University. Perfect location! Rooms were clean and comfortable! Great room for the money!

Great location! Close to western michigan university! Room a little small but clean and very comfortable!

I visited Kalamazoo to tour the breweries and spend some time with a family member who attends WMU, so I booked a night at the Red Roof Inn. There were only a couple places that I found that were < $100/night, and Red Roof appeared to be in the best location. Next time, I'll spend more to stay somewhere nicer. The room itself was very small, and didn't seem clean. I found several stains and marks on the sheets when I pulled back the comforter, which was an instant deal-breaker. To their credit, the front desk was able to give me a new set of sheets - however there was no available rooms to move me to, and they don't have a housekeeping staff available (they presumably are only there for a couple hours in the morning to go room-to-room), so I had to deal with it myself. The bathroom was clean, but was almost comically small - the tub/shower takes up over half of the room, and there is barely room to sit on the toiler (It reminded me of an airplane bathroom honestly). Very disappointed in my stay, but at least at least the city of Kalamazoo was fun.

Make Reservations for two room. Both rooms were clean and comfortable for the one night we stayed. I would definitely stay there again.

It was a fine stay, however, I felt it was very overpriced for what it was.

We were given a handicap room when nobody in family was handicapped even though motel was less than half full !!! We couldn't park in front of room since we did not have a handicap sticker!! When checking out, we asked the clerk "Why a handicap room?" Never could figure out her answer!! Never this Red Roof again!!
