If you want something nice and chic, this is the hotel to go for. My friend from Singapore booked this hotel and the room deco is just top of the line. Also, the Sugar bar at the roof top bar just give you a breathtaking night view of Hong kong, highly recommended!
I’ve stayed at East twice whilst on business in Hong Kong. On both occasions, the hotel was a perfect choice. There are plenty of hotels to choose from on HK Island and Kowloon, so East hotel might get overlooked as somewhere that would suit a business trip. However, I always find that hotels in central HK are very cramped in size, with a view of apartment blocks or the freeway. What you pay for is a very high premium for convenience of the CBD without any luxuries. This is where East comes top of the class. Despite being a little distance from HK central, the convenience of being right next to the MTR station makes up for that. It’s also only a short drive from Central Station so getting too and from the airport is also convenient. The hotel is very modern and well appointed. The rooms are very spacious and some with a great view out to sea. There is ample room to spread out and for me, enough room to work at the desk when needed without having to walk around the bed. The bathrooms are great and an extremely comfy bed. Breakfast is well appointed and the room service is good. This last time I managed to visit Sugar bar on the rooftop and it’s a great place to hang out. A lot of my colleagues frequent this hotel and it’s a firm favourite to stay at. I’d recommend this hotel for a holiday visit as well, with its comfort and great location to get around the city. There’s also a mall connected to the hotel for things to do and places to eat. Although on the latter, there’s a fantastic Ramen place right opposite the lobby. Will definitely be back.
I had a really nice stay at EAST - the staff were all really friendly, I couldn't get enough of the views from my room and I loved the mixture of the hotel's relaxed atmosphere whilst at the same time being a trendy and fun place to hang out. Therefore, I would make sure EAST is on the top of your list of hotels when going to Hong Kong.
Very comfortable modern Business Hotel ideal for East Hong Kong. Rooms are large and well equipped, great showers and a comfy bed. Good Breakfast but a little pricey Excellent rooftop bar for the odd sun-downer.
The good, in no particular order: Large, Thick, Fluffy bath towels Luxurious bath robe Great views (we were on 26/F) Comfy bed Modern design Their one restaurant ‘Feast’ is relaxing with lots of natural light. Breakfast: There is a small buffet and you choose a main from the menu. Food was great. In room dining: strange. The food arrives in plastic take out boxes. No table. So one of us ate at the desk and the other had to sit on the floor and use the window ledge as a table. Waste of plastic containers too, for the condiments. Nothing special about the food. Burger was bland. Hotel is connected to Cityplaza mall which is great for shopping and dining. Tons of options. Nice rooftop bar ‘Sugar’ for sunset cocktails, snacks and great views. Staff here were friendly. Able to offer later check out (2pm) free of charge. Gym/pool staff were polite and helpful. Room-keeping was responsive and careful. A smartphone is included in the room. Great for tourists. There were two bikes for use. If it wasn’t so hot we would have liked to ride along the waterfront. The main problem: the hotel is surrounded by residential high rises. Unless you are on a higher floor, your room is eye to eye with lots of other people. And the windows are not one way. The room design is open, like a studio apartment. There’s not much privacy. The only thing separating the bed and bathroom is a glass partition and a frosted glass door. From the bed you can see the toilet and sink area. Besides that there are no real major problems but lots of little annoyances. -Gym is small but sufficient. The big windows means lots of natural light but also gets very hot from the sun. They need to turn the ac on higher. -The pool, on the 4/F is surrounded by residential buildings so unfortunately it is not private at all. You can see residents hanging out their laundry, watching tv etc -small design flaws: not enough hooks to hang towels and bathrobes, thick rugs get stuck on the toilet and shower doors when opening/closing. Bathroom sink has no ‘lip’ so the counter space gets wet and stays wet. I kept having to wipe away the puddles. -Annoyingly there is a master light switch which turns on all lights. The only other light switch is one bedside lamp and one desk lamp. No light switch for just the toilet area or individual areas of the room. The shower itself is quite dark so to have a shower in the day time requires turning on all the others lights in the room. -only one narrow mirror above the sink -‘do not disturb’ button is by the bed only, it would be helpful to have one by the door Sockets: there are several but the one at the desk is encased in a metal case, the edge of which is high enough to make the plugging of a usb into the plug difficult. -Check in and check out counters are understaffed.
This was so much better than a ho-hum-drum business hotel. Attention to detail from the staff was friendly, efficient and professional. The location is great being right beside a MTR stop (Island line) and connected by a land bridge to a large, modern shopping centre. Roof top bar being upgraded but still worth a visit. Good size swimming pool. Bed wonderful; good bedside lighting; a drawer full of cables plugs adapters and suchlike; bathroom amenities excellent; all spotlessly clean. We paid more for a harbour view room and it was well worth it. I hope to return.
My wife stays at this hotel when in Hong Kong for business and sometimes I head over to join her for a weekend away from Singapore. While the hotel is not in what you would consider a "central" location, it's proximity to an MTR station gives this hotel good access to all of the best parts of Hong Kong. The rooms are also very stylish and comfortable. I would stay here again.
It isn't in the hustle and bustle of Kowloon but it is worth the 7-8 stops on the metro to get to where ever you need. The bed is like a cloud. The facilities in the room (including a pod coffee machine) and in the hotel are wonderful. Staff in reception and House keeping are lovely. (The morning restaurant/breakfast staff not so much) The hotel is connected to a newish shopping centre too. You get the use of a cell phone during the stay too. Great for maps and suggestions Definitely worth a stay.
This is the second time we stayed at EAST hotel. First time was in 2012 for honeymoon, now back with a 5yo and a baby. The hotel is modern and trendy, but it is only good for young ppl or business travellers, not quite suitable for family. It’s far away from anywhere, so if you need to catch taxi it will be quite expensive. We asked for baby cot, and they gave us a portable (not the wooden) one with no mattress! Maybe the room service never have a child before, I don’t know how they expected my baby to sleep on a hard plank base. Lucky we booked twin bed (can’t put them together as bed was fixed), so baby can sleep with me. There was no baby bath amenities provided either. They also provided smart phone in the room now, but we didn’t get any information on how to use it so was not aware at that time.
I have been many times at this place over the last three years. Really an excellent business hotel. Not very central in Hong Kong but very vlose to metro station. Rooms are nice and well equiped. Excellent breakfast and fabulous top floor bar.
