Brighton Hotel Hong Kong

3.5 out of 5.0

Good for the price. Very close to the mass transit system. The rooms were a little small which is typical of Hong Kong. It is close to a lot of restaurants.

I recomend this hotel if you want to go to the HK convetion center. The hotel is in good condition but room are small.

This hotel is less than a minute from the Wan Chai MTR stop. There are some "shady" places across the street, so just be aware when walking around day or night. It is safe, but inappropriate for young children.

It is literally out side of the Wan Chai MTR station. The shower drain does not work. My feet were soaked in dirty water.

Long story short: I would go back to this hotel for my next visit to Hong Kong. A few things I worry about low-cost hotels include cleanliness and location; this place was super clean (which might be a Hong Kong thing not specific to this hotel) and practically next door to an MTR (subway) entrance. You can get to most points of interest using the MTR, but taxi fares are also reasonable (just make sure your driver knows exactly where you want to go). The neighborhood is safe, and you can find something good to eat just by walking a few blocks in any direction. The room has everything that a hotel normally offers, plus some things I wasn't expecting such as bottled water, slippers, and toothbrushes/paste. The space is small, so there is not a lot of horizontal space to put your stuff (a small desk and a console of sorts, while the bathroom sink has almost no room to put stuff). The hotel is at the end of a red light district; while that is not my thing, it did not bother me whatsoever as it was well-contained. I was expecting to see "patrons" using this nearby hotel, but witnessed no such thing. Noise is probably not an issue (I was on the 20th floor where it was no issue). In short, it's a non-issue unless you are the most intolerant person you've ever known.

The space is tight, this is Hong Kong no doubt. Other than this, everything is superb. If you plan to use MRT, it is right next to exit C of Wanchai Station.
