This was a good hotel to serve as a base camp for exploring Hong Kong island. The rooms are basic but clean and the service ranks amongst the best I have experienced on Hong Kong island - this includes hotels where the per night rate is 3-4x higher. It is a little secluded and is quiet at night.
Experience was ok because price was ok for a suite........but toilet didn't work on 3rd day - was fixed within 20 minutes after I complained...room was cold even though I had a heater. They give you only 1 room key... a bulky old fashion key instead of a keycard. Wifi was sooooo slow that I used my roaming service instead.
Prior to my arrival in Hong Kong, I have been corresponding with the hotel and they have been efficient in responding to my e-mails. I was made aware that there is a free shuttle bus service from Hong Kong Station to the hotel and that I did not have to make a booking for it. However, I waited for nearly 2 hours for the bus! I checked with the person manning the shuttle bus counter and he kept saying the bus is coming until to a point I e-mailed the hotel directly asking about the shuttle. In less than half an hour the bus arrived. I was actually waiting for the taxi by then, good thing I saw the bus! After a few days in Hong Kong, I realized that the hotel is actually not that far from the station and there were other taxi points that I could have gone to. I guess it's better to inform the hotel that you're coming just to avoid waiting. Aside from that, it was otherwise a pleasant stay at the hotel. Check in was smooth, housekeeping was prompt and the room was alright. A bit dated, small and I would have liked to have more pillows. Love the "handy", very convenient and saved us $40 for the airport express tickets when buying through the app ($80 instead of the usual $100/one way). Location is great - its within walking distance to midlevels escalator, so you can save $30 taxi ride by going all the way down to IFC. I wouldn't mind staying at Bishop Lei again if I return to Hong Kong.
Room was very good for hong kong as it usually is so small but in bishop was very nice! Location is good and you can take regularly shuttle bus to mtr.
Bishop Lei was a great location in Central Hong Kong to meet my son and his girlfriend for the first 4 days of my trip to go on to Mainland China. My flight into Hong Kong arrived very late, we took the Red Taxi from the Airport to the hotel at 12 AM, my son had arranged for late check-in earlier and the hotel was very accommodating, staff was friendly and helpful through out our stay. We had two standard rooms, both small and modestly appointed, yet met our needs. Rooms were very clean and staff was quick to provide services as needed, including providing an electrical plug converter (small deposit required, and refunded when turned in at check-out). Note: The tap water must be boiled before drinking - there is an electric pot provided in the room that can be used to do this. Hint: We bought water the first day. After that would boil the water in our room to refill a water bottle after the water cooled to room temperature. Then put in the refrigerator provided in the room to chill the boiled water. Amenities at the Bishop Lei: Reading Room is a nice quiet space with a table that seats 4 people, along with a sofa seating area. The Pool is clean and we enjoyed time in the sun with a cool breeze, very nice retreat from the muggy Hong Kong summer heat. The Terrace Restaurant, good food, yet we enjoyed the opportunity to seek out the many diverse cuisines available close to the hotel that are easily accessed by walking. The Mid Level Escalators are very close, and will take you to many good places to grab a bite to eat & drink, as well as convenience stores and the Mid Level Escalators are god-send when having to go back up to the hotel). Other ways to get around: The Bishop Lei provides a shuttle that will take you to key points. Bus, Train (MTR) and Ferry - purchase an Octopus Card to pay for fares on the bus, train & ferry). Taxi is a good option especially affordable for more than a couple people traveling together, also convenient for hauling luggage or packages, later in the evening and when the Escalator does not run. Overall, our stay was comfortable and affordable. Would choose to stay here again and highly recommend the Bishop Lei.
Convemiently located on Robinson road, it was easy to get to central either by the frequent buses or the mid level escalators. Views are great and not obstructed since it is on a ridge and neighbours the smaller cathedral and school. Price was very reasonable too.
