So, the air conditioner is a motion detector and will not work when you leave the room or even when you are in the room, if you sit still, the unit turns off. it was 86 degrees inside the room when we got there and had to trick the motion detector to get the room cool. it was over 100 outside. all this hubaloo about water saving and the toilet was an older 3 gallon toilet???

An eccentric hotel, sorta a throwback in time Our rooms were located in a strange area, we felt like we were in the lower class section of the Titanic! Lol Location location location that’s what the hotel is all about

The hotel and staff were wonderful! There is not nearly enough parking. Unfortunately we didn't get to experience most of the park due to snow. We were only there for one night. We are hoping to return for several days during a more seasonable time so that we may get to enjoy more of the park and visit the north and east ends of the park.

Rooms were poorly equipped for a prestigious hotel like El Tovar. Limiting showering to two minutes, fixing room temperature too low, with drafting snowy cold air coming in at night, and the absence of a small service table--these are undesirable conditions. Dr. Tai

Great location next to the canyon wall. Old outdated hotel. Poor air quality in the hotel. Very run down. Food was ok. Don't believe the hype on their website. Overpriced hotel. Stay in another hotel in the park

Pros: Location, location, location! 50 feet from the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Historic facility meticulously maintained. Great staff. Cons: Lots of steps with NO consideration for people with limitations. I am recovering from knee problems and expressed my issues with stairs but was given a room down two flights of stairs. The problem was rectified after great pain on my part. The room was absurdly small. The only outlet available was in the bathroom where I had to charge my phone and laptop. Room service was often recommended by the staff but there was no table in the room or any surface that would function as one except the bed. It was the most uncomfortable bed I ever slept in. There were two straight back chairs in the room that were not comfortable enough to sit in for more than a couple of minutes. There was even a step up into the bathroom which was a problem for me after my check-in experience. There were no grab bars in the tub-shower. It was the only time in my life I needed help with my luggage but that was only because there were no elevators and my initial room was down two flighhts of stairs. I was told there was no way into the hotel without steps. That was not true. After my room was changed, I was able to enter and exit without stairs by goinf out a side door and walking around the building. I was able to take my own luggage to my car once I knew the route. I did not require any assistance after my room location was changed to the main ,,,

Wonderful location. Hotel could use some updating. Restaurant was expensive but very good food.

Literally on the Grand Canyon, best views and the restaurant was great too! Walking and driving routes right along the Grand Canyon too

Great location, but rude service and massively overpriced.

Great location right by the Rim Trail. The shuttle buses in the area are not running due to covid so it was good to be near the trail for an easy walk. The property has a restaurant so we didn't have to go into town for food. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food/service was pretty good. The hotel has 3 floors and no elevator. It's a historic spot and was perfect for one night.

Many people spoke about the property being old. Well, the historical hotel is 150 years old. AMAZING GETAWAY and located right on the rim.

Arrived at night. Wjhat a fabulous surprise to get up early & just step out the side door to see the sunrise over Grand Canyon. A majestic hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. My apologies that your room did not fully meet your expectations. While we do have a limited number of rooms that do not require stairs most do. I apologize that was not clear when you made the reservation or when you checked in. I'm glad that we were able to move you to the ground floor. We do hope that you will visit us again.
