Mercure Hotel & Residenz Frankfurt Messe4.5 out of 5.0

It was a business trip. I booked Mercure because I thought I would get worldwide standardized 4 star hotel. Not here. Never seen such a dirty room (stains on the floor, walls, cracks on the walls, fungus in the bathroom). Moreover the stink was jammed and the room was stinky even though it supposed to be non smoking. Attendance wasn't professional. When I complained about the dirty room they said its ok (maybe need some refreshment) and did nothing to solve the problem (you can change the hotel but you already paid in advance for the room so go off). The only reason I didn't go to another place was the time - I arrived at the hotel at midnight. Biggest hotel disappointment in my live.
Lovely hotel, staff are really good very helpful and polite. The room was really comfortable, bed was lovely, rooms very clean and facilities are excellent. I ate in the bar really good menu selection, as well as excellent German beers . Breakfast is 21 Euros which is a bit expensive but lot to choose from . Very good free WIFI Will certainly stay here again when in Frankfurt
I have just spent a week at the Mercure Hotel & Residenz on a business trip, and was very happy with my stay. The hotel is only 3 minutes walk from Frankfurt West S-Bahn, and is close to restaurants and shops (e.g. Leipziger Str.). My room was large, with a balcony, and was clean, modern and comfortable. I chose a room overlooking the courtyard/garden, so it was very quiet and there was no street noise. The bathroom was modern and well-equipped with a rain shower. A good, well-lit desk and work area. The bar and restaurant were more than OK, and the breakfast was very good indeed with an excellent range of options - healthy, cooked, cold meats/cheese, breads, fruit, etc. Also take-away coffee, which is a nice touch. The staff was helpful when asked, even if not overwhelmingly friendly. The internet was rather slow, but adequate for emails and browsing. And there is a small gym and sauna in the basement. The hotel is not super exciting or ultra-chic and stylish, but it is a very convenient, comfortable and functional choice and I would choose to return.
Nice hotel, well staffed reception, a good variety of choices during breakfast and a modern bathroom. Only annoying item was the warm room. To cool it, i had to open the window and balcony door. But as the room was on the street side, I had to close it all due to the noise.
I went to Frankfurt for the weekend to see the Christmas markets in December. When we arrived at the hotel it was very upsetting - the outside looks awful. Thankfully once you get inside it is much better. The hotel is split into 2 buildings - we were across the road, which wasn't the main building so didn't have a reception, restaurant or café - those were all in the other building. The location was ok. About a 10-15 minute taxi ride from the hotel into the town centre - there is a taxi rank outside or they will call a taxi for you. The journey costs approximately 20euros. The hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport. The café in the hotel is very nice - modern and has an ok menu. The staff in the café were great, the reception staff not so great - did not give much guidance or help when checking-in. Literally just checked us in, didn't ask if we knew the area and/or didn't advise of anything we could do! Hotel was ok - relatively clean. Would stay again, although not the best location!
Overnight stay with evening snacks & breakfast. Room was good. Pleasant restaurant with excellent food. Goulash soup was excellent. Pork burger & chips was also excellent. Breakfast was good with variety & typical of many German hotels. 1 negative point. High speed train ran nearby regularly through the night. I think every thirty minutes. Tip: keep the windows closed.
Really enjoyed our 2 nights here with our main purpose being the Christmas markets. So easy to get to the station and down into central Frankfurt. Room was lovely and comfy. Would definitely recommend
Good location, you get in the city quite fast from there. The hotel is close to the train station you just have to go through a small park and you're basically there. The rooms aire fairly standard though
Booked 3 rooms, for 2 nights stay. 1 booking was wrong, but front desk managed to find us a twin bed room. Thanks for this! If you're Platinum member, don't expect much from this hotel. No value or appreciation will be noticed.
We stay at Mercure hotels many times per year. This property did not live up to our expectations based on the norm for this chain. Rooms were dated, in need of updating with older, worn carpeting, etc. Even in the hallways there was broken molding, etc. It was also very difficult to shower without getting water everywhere. On the plus side, the parking garage was roomy and well lit, the location was good (20 minutes walk to the Messe, with a tram stop right out front if you prefer not to walk). Breakfast was good with a variety of hot and cold offerings to suit British, American and German tastes. Staff in the bar and at breakfast were wonderful. We had two minor "issues". We had booked a privelege room and were given a base room (very small and lacking the amenities we should have had). Being very busy we did not go down and ask to be moved---this is on us. However, at check out we were charged the higher price and even though I explained we did not have the privelege room we were being charged for, the person at the desk kept telling me I was wrong, first he said it WAS a better room and we just needed to have requested robes (the room was small and missing other things like a free mini bar, etc). Then he changed tactics and told me there is only one room price and we were not being charged an higher rate. In the end I gave up, paid and we emailed management. The email was answered very quickly and the issue resolved. It is a shame that we had to elevate this to get resolution though (but, I commend management for their quick repsonse at that point) The other was just an odd thing. There had been a muffin with jelly delivered to our room---as a loyalty gift we think. The plate was wrapped in cellophane---but the bowl with jelly inside had mold growing on it---needless to say that remained untouched on the dest throughout our 3 night stay.
