Older style budget hotel 500m from central train station. We appreciated the early checkin after more than 20 hours travel from Australia. Room was smallish but clean, beds comfortable, free wifi was good, and there were some English speaking tv channels. Bathroom spacious and clean, water hot with good flow. On the negative side, there was no air conditioning and room was hot and humid. Opening the window didn't help and made it very noisy in the room- trams and trucks most of the night. The bench fan supplied was broken and didn't help much, and it was not possible to position it so all 3 room occupants benefited from it. In the bathroom, the shower was positioned over the bath making it difficult for those with limited mobility, and the bath drain was blocked. Had to shower standing in six inches of water that took a long time to drain away. Shower head wouldn't stay in position, so couldn't stand under the water, and soap dispenser practically empty. Overall, the potential for a comfortable stay.
Memphis hotel on Muenchner Straße is about 11 Kilometers from Frankfurt am Main airport, and on the S-Bahn line as well as near the U-Bahn stop. The airport taxi with an Indian driver we took from the airport; without traffic delay, overcharged me ( over €38 while the normal rate was about €25). He made the route longer and the meter was not working properly. The hotel has about 7 floors with a lift and has family rooms. The staff at the reception were found helpful. The hotel is close to the main train station, and some small shops are around. The corridors need better ventilation. The room is functional with good space with central heating, but no air condition. An electric fan is provided in the room. There is no tea making facility inside the room, but hot water is available from the "Maschine" at the reception. Only one pillow is provided on a bed. There is a minibar and a TV in the room. There is only one chair in the triple room, and there is no table. The breakfast is available at a reasonable price. It is advisable to take an upper floor.
The hotel is minimally equipped. They claim three stars, but really, it's on the meagre side of it. The best I can say is that it is clean. The wifi is slow, the bathroom and shower are very small. The location is close to a lot and directly on the #11 & #12 street car lines.
A clean and well run hotel. VERY nice and friendly staff. Room a bit on the small side but made up by its location, price and cleanliness. It has a quirky but very likeable feel. I would stay there again.
Wasn't too sure what to expect as very dirty street where the hotel is situated, although the insides of all the shops/ eating establishments looked spotless. Great location for everything, from shopping to eating. Minutes from the rail station and was very welcoming from the young woman, a student studying sports, on reception. It was pouring with rain and she was so nice it took the edge of us being soaked. The pic said one night but she checked to printed booking and confirmed it was 3 nights very quickly. Room was fine, gave everything we needed including free wifi. Clean, tidy, well maintained and would highly recommend.
We stayed in this hotel as part of a deal we bought for visiting the Christmas Market. On arrival, we were pleased that the receptionist spoke good English. We were directed to our room and were also given a map of the town where she explained where the markets were. The room is spacious but very basic. We had a double bed room, but it was just two single beds pushed together with separate covers. There was no duvet which meant it was cold of an evening. Not quite what you want on a romantic trip! The bathroom was good, towels provided and soap available if needed. There was a guest services directory which was handy. The safe in our room had been locked and we could not open it at all! Breakfast was a continental selection and coffee was topped up as required. Was nice, but in my opinion, was a bit expensive for what it was. Close to the hauptbahnhof but a walk through quite a rough looking area was required. Very fast walking both there and back! The tram runs directly outside the hotel and on the Saturday night was quite noisy as there is a club just down the road. One thing is that there was no kettle available in the room, only the very overpriced mini bar! Free WIFI code which was handy! The hotel is a good base for the Christmas Markets for a couple of days but any longer wouldn't have been ideal. Comfortable and clean. Would stay again if going to the markets
My sister and I stayed here twice, once at each end of our trip to Germany. The Memphis Hotel is walking distance from the main train station in a neighborhood with many Turkish restaurants. The place itself is clean and felt safe.
Perhaps I would stay here again, but the Lady with the short dark hair at the reception, would have to develop a Personality. I found her to be rude, not only to our party, but everyone as well. The hotel was good for the price we paid, but again that rude lady at reception............. The rest of the staff were both Friendly and Helpfull
The Memphis is very convenient for the main station and, despite being in a pretty run down area, is not too far from some great restaurants and from the main modern centre of the city. Our room was clean and serviced daily and the beds were very comfortable. There is an issue with the noise from the street if you have a room facing that way. Trams pass every few minutes and it seems to be a common pastime to sound you car horn here. However, closing the window does help and it didn't interfere with our sleeping too much. We found the staff to be very accommodating and was particularly impressed with the lady in the breakfast room who couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was a typical basic continental offering but was perfectly adequate and we enjoyed it. Natuarally, being British, we needed a proper cup of tea at breakfast time but unfortunately, as with most mainland European hotels, the teabags used could not stand up to the job. (We'll have to teach these people about proper Yorkshire tea!) Despite that lack of teamaking skills we were very happy with our stay and would use the hotel again.
The hotel is pretty much one of those standard city hotels. It is rather oldish, with tiny reception, and small elevator. The double room had a huge double mattress bed with the mattresses moving slightly apart at night. The bathroom was big enough and the shower was strong, comfy and instantly hot. While it was far from a serious issue, the room and bath could have been a bit cleaner. The radiator in the bath wasn't clean and there were some dried dirt spots on the bed stand between the mattresses. Also the walls were stained in some spots where previous guests seemed to have rubbed with their luggage or something like that. For real business the desk might be too small to work with more than a laptop and a few papers. Given the location in Bahnhofsviertel, forget about keeping the windows open at night if you want to sleep before 3 am. On the upside, just a few steps take you into a hip dining and drinking scene, while it takes few more to bring you cross the financial district to the old city center.
