Denver is the largest city in the Rocky Mountain Region, but is mostly known for its unique blend of cowboy history and current art scene. With grand views of the mountains, you will more than enjoy all that this city has to offer inside and out.

Historical and outdoor sights in Denver (CO)

Take a tour of the Byers-Evans House Museum, located in a home that dates back to 1883. No wonder it is one of Denver’s most known historic landmarks. The University of Denver’s Chamberlin Observatory, which was built in 1890, is an excellent place for astronomy lovers. Next, check out the Colorado State Capitol for its US Capitol inspired architecture and gold dome. Make sure to look for the sign that will put you exactly one mile above sea level.

Learn more about one of the Titanic’s most famous survivors at the Molly Brown House Museum. If you are more of an artsy type, it will be good to know that the Museum of Contemporary Art offers constantly changing exhibits as well as a gorgeous 360 view over the skyline of Denver.

If you are looking to spend time in nature, you can start off slowly with strolling through Denver’s many parks. City Park is filled with lakes, fields, a zoo, a golf course, and more. Denver Botanic Gardens offer a gorgeous array of flowers and plants. Washington Park is great for admiring some of the 19th century style homes, while Cheesman Park has an Acropolis inspired pavilion with views over Denver’s skyline.

There is more to discover still! Rent a car and head out to some of the numerous attractions right outside the city. Dinosaur Ridge features fossils from the Jurassic age. Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave is dedicated to one of the most famous cowboys in American history. Of course, you do not want to miss the Rocky Mountain National Park and its over 400-square-miles of gorgeous scenery. From high peaks to lakes and streams, you will find stunning views in every direction to inspire you.
