This was our first time staying here. Our room (Paulina) was beautiful and very clean. We stayed on a weekend so we got a little more pampered as far as breakfast goes compared to weekedays. We learned that during the week guests still receive a delicious hot breakfast but it is more of a quick, self-serve type of set-up. I am sure it is still great and better than a contential breakfast given at hotels. The whole place is newly remodeled and crisp and clean. The kitchen & breakfast area is very nice. Our room was at the back of the building so we definitely heard the L train passing. That was fine though because they do a good job with stating that on their website. They also provide ear plugs. I didn't think it was that bad but I am not a light sleeper. We brought our own sound machine even though they provided one and it was fine. One thing that I would recommend is forewarning guests if there will be a party/event in the kitchen. At other B&Bs we have stayed at, we have been able to freely get a drink, snack or warm up our food in the microwave provided in the kitchen. After a day out we picked up a quick dinner downtown, rode the train back and planned on enjoying it at the inn after we got settled. When we arrived at the inn a private party was going on in the kitchen. We did not want to walk in on the party to serve ourselves glasses of water and heat our food. A worker told my husband that they could probably warm it up for us and that the hostess shouldn't mind. We thought we would give it a little more time but then by that time we felt it would be a lot to ask the worker to get our glasses of water, napkins, warm our food, etc. We just waited until the party was over to do that ourselves. Even though we ate later than we wanted, it wasn't too big of a deal. But if we would have known earlier in the day we would have planned to have dinner out instead of taking it back to the inn. Other than that, we had a nice time and would recommend this place without hesitation.
I stay at the Wicker Park Inn every time I come into Chicago for business. The location is perfect being close to everything that I need. The staff are always courteous and helpful. The rooms are clean and perfect for getting a night’s rest. The owner is always helpful and responsive.
Charming, affordable, great homemade food, met all the guests staying there, comfortable bed/sheets, wonderful owner, easy parking spaces. A great experience and thanks to the Inn for everything. Graham, Alicia, and Claire Filler
This beautifully decorated and well looked after BnB is now one of my favorite places in the Wicker Park neighborhood in Chicago. Wicker Park is outside of downtown Chicago with great choices for food, drinks, galleries, coffeehouses and live music. You literally do not need to go downtown if you choose to stay in the neighborhood. Our room had a great bed, ceiling windows and awesome shower. Among many things two things really stood out for me about our room; the comfortable bed with soft and silky bedsheets from comphy.com and the heated bathroom floor. The idea of a common dining room/kitchen is a great way to meet people and enjoy freshly made breakfast. I loved the fruit platter, omelet dishes and fresh brewed coffee, yum. Staff along with the owner were super friendly and helpful. We got lots of great tips and information about the neighborhood and restaurant choices. The blueline train is only 10 minutes away and the neighborhood has lots of Uber drivers. Enjoy your stay.
You can feel the warmth of Wicker Park Inn the minute you walk up to the front door. The beautiful building with a quaint front patio invites you right in! We were greeted by someone right away - she showed us to our room and walked us over to the kitchen/sitting area to show us where breakfast would be served. Our room was beautifully updated along with the rest of the house. The bed was comfortable and the made to order breakfast was delicious (great coffee too)! We can't wait to stay there again - I honestly can't imagine staying at a hotel after staying here.
My husband and I wanted a little staycation to get out of our neighborhood and explore another area of Chicago. I had heard that the Wicker Park Inn just had been remodelled and I thought we would check it out. Firstly it was in a fantastic location, close to lots of restaurants, bars and boutiques. We walked to every spot and didn't freeze (it is winter after all). The remodel was cozy and well thought out, I loved that the rooms were named after Chicago streets. Laura (the Innkeeper) greeted me at the door and was lovely. She gave me a tour of the place and the lowdown on the bnb. In the morning at breakfast I was a late riser and had the pleasure of chatting with Mecca who was in the kitchen catching me up on the latest in the area. It was a true "Chicago" feel as well because you get an amazing view of the Blue Line running past the kitchen window, definitely an Urban bnb. I would recommend the Inn for sure to other guests that want something off the beaten path with lots of local charm!!
Our son and daughter in law recently moved to Wicker Park. We have never been to Wicker Park and searched for a place for one night. Came across Wicker Park Inn and gave it a try first. We were very impressed. The room we had was excellent with a wonderful king bed. The staff (Charlene) was very attentive. We were extremely lucky to be one of the two vehicles to use the garage. We were within walking distance to our son and a huge variety of restaurants and shopping. The Blue Line runs directly behind the Inn and after reading other reviews, I requested a room on the front of the Inn. We could hear the train but it didn't affect our sleep. I wake up early and had to make coffee in the kitchen which was no problem. Breakfast was good for us. More of a continental type. I would certainly stay at Wicker Park Inn again.
The Wicker Park Inn has been remodeled. It is now not as cozy, clean or courteous as at my last visit 3 yrs ago. I will be looking elsewhere . The $220. room was just a bed and a bath, not the efficiency suite I remember from our previous stay. The shower seemed clean (we left w/o using it), but the mirror-covered night stands were dirty. Stains and dirt had not even been wiped off. We didn't stay long enough to find how else things had gone bad, due to an impending snowstorm . 🎇
We chose the Wicker Park Inn because of the close proximity to our grandson's apartment and his work as that was the reason for our visit. I read all the reviews and decided on the Inn over another hotel recommended to us. We loved everything about the Inn. Our room, the comfort of the bed, the kitchen space, the very friendly people who work there, and the owner, Laura. It was so close to good restaurants, transportation, and shopping. The vibe of Wicker Park is amazing. Highly recommend this Inn!
Conveniently located to public transit and restaurants and a beautifully remodeled property. The bed was very comfortable and the rain shower-head felt wonderful. Though it only was a one night stay, I felt like I was coming home after work versus a hotel. I was provided with a complimentary street parking permit for my rental car. You really don't need a car in Chicago- I had one due to work equipment, etc, especially with the El located so close by. Breakfast was good and the staff very friendly. I'd recommend you try the property- it does not disappoint.
