Was due to have several nights here, but checked out after the first night. The bed was like sleeping on a board. When I went to the front desk in the morning to say that I had to check out since the beds were so hard, the manager told me that they had just put new mattresses and they should be better in a couple months....... As my work requires me to travel, I stay in hotel rooms close to 100 nights a year, and I have never had such a hard mattress and given the reason that they were new.
Nice view. Room was expensive compared to others in the area. I thought I would be getting aeroplan points but I did not. Look around for other hotels in the area. Breakfast could be better. Check-in was fast.
The room was expensive for the off season. Saw the cruise ships from our room. Fast service. Breakfast could be better. Still waiting for choice hotel points to be posted. The trip was taken in October.
Stayed here while in town waiting for the ferry over to Newfoundland. There was nothing special about the place but it was quiet and comfortable. The room was pretty typical for a Comfort Inn, one nice touch was the motion activated light in the bathroom. The free breakfast in the morning was pretty good with cheese omlettes and sausage patties. Overall a good place to spend a night or two in Sydney.
We were very pleased with the Comfort Inn. The room was clean and the bed slept very good. This was a great location for us. Plenty of restaurants in the area. They had plenty of hot water and the towels were nice and fluffy. We found the room to be very suitable for us and would stay here again. The breakfast was typical Choice Hotels which is fine. The staff were also polite and helpful.
Standard hotel, nothing fancy but good location, good price, clean and quiet, staff pleasant and helpful. Would stay here again as it is close to restaurants and walkway along the river. Only negative: no elevator so be prepared to deal with steps and luggage.
Arrived with my group of 52 seniors to find they had put,us all on the second floor and no elevator. Once I got past that the place was ok. Rooms were clean, good location, complimentary breakfast was adequate and well stocked. The parking lot was difficult for my bus but would be ok for cars.
The Comfort Inn is a budget hotel and located near Sydney, Nova Scotia. The downtown Sydney area is about a 5 - 10 minute drive. The hotel is two floors and does not have an elevator so anyone with a lot of luggage or mobility issues should keep that in mind. Staff at check in was good, lots of free parking, wifi worked well. Breakfast room won't accommodate if the hotel is full but you could take it back to your room. We found the housekeeping a bit suspect. There is a fridge and microwave in the room which is a nice addition. Enough towels provided. Hot water had good pressure. Overall the room was clean but the coffee maker was not cleaned out from the previous guest for one of our party and for us, after the first of two nights, the coffee maker in our room wasn't cleaned out either. We did ask at the desk in the evening for more coffee which we received but then the next day, the housekeeping didn't leave the normal coffee allottment. The idea was to have extra available.I guess we should have left a note asking for more. The breakfast is free but unless you are happy with cereal and toast, you won't likely enjoy it. The eggs and sausage patties were barely warm, the eggs being all exactly the same size and shape including the yolks, as if they were thinly sliced off a loaf. The sausage was like cardboard. Coffee was not very good. We couldn't face it the second morning and ate elsewhere. Overall, not a bad place to stay on a budget for a night or two but improvements could be made.
This was our 2nd choice for a place to stay, the 1st being sold out. I really can't find anything to be negative about yet when we left I can't say it was an outstanding experience. The facility seems a bit dated yet we found it clean. Our room was pleasant enough, the beds were comfy and the bathroom clean. The TV was terrible, the picture being much less than clear, almost as if the signal was still coming in via an antenna. It was very quiet though and we had a good sleep. The breakfast was nothing special - standard fare for these types of places. We had enough to eat and it wasn't distasteful. Check in and out was easy and quick. The hotel is located on what I believe is the main street so if you're driving there around 5 p.m. the traffic is horrendous. In summary it wasn't a bad place nor was it outstanding. Maybe what makes me unsure is that I found it pretty expensive for an ordinary place but then accommodation in Sydney seems to me to be overpriced.
It is the little things that count and make me happy when I stay at a hotel - cleanliness, friendly staff, everything you need. Unfortunately so much to complain about with this hotel. The stopper in the sink was stuck in the sink so water would not go down. My husband dug it out with a nail file and placed it on the sink counter, no toilet paper in the bathroom (so I had to run down to the desk while my husband waited), no laundry bag in the room (we are on a TRIP and have dirty laundry). At breakfast, the apple juice was just like water (no juice in there), the trash barrel was overflowing, and the woman manning the breakfast area was also doing the laundry at the same time. Too many things wrong for me. It was also the most expensive hotel by over $50 than any other on our entire trip.
