Cheap, but decent.

Had to flush the toilet twice and hold the handle down every single time. Asked for a non-smoking room due to asthma and was given a "non-smoking" room but the room had clearly previously been smoked in and not properly cleaned/aired out . The pillows are flat so make sure you bring your own. The in room coffee is terrible. It's cheap and convenient so if you don't care about smoke or pillows or toilets flushing or coffee you'll be fine.

Well you are correct on some points . We have folks abuse us a lot and smoke in clearly marked "non"smoking rooms. If our housekeepers realize it, then we can run our ozone machine to get rid of those odors. Sometimes we miss that. The property is very aged, and that does include the toilets. We are changing them out, and or their parts weekly. We are currently refreshing our rooms with new pillows that are so fluffy they actually might bother your neck at first, and for the record the lobby coffee is the only way to go. Sorry we did not hear from you and just switch you to a different room in which you may have been happier.

Great value

Great value for the price. Super friendly staff. The only downside was the funky door lock. But would stay again for sure.

Definitely a great hotel!

The price was great. The staff was so friendly and accommodating! And the buildings were so cute! We absolutely loved our stay here. It's in a great location with very friendly people. We definitely will come back when we return to NC. I definitely recommend this hotel. They weren't kidding when they said "it's home away from home". Because we all felt at home here.

Nice rustic-style motel

Pros: location and comfort
Cons: update everything
Location: All of Asheville is nearby. Go to Corner Kitchen for a gourmet meal that is reasonable yet on a par with the best restaurants.
Very comfortable and convenient to Asheville attractions. Good value. Breakfast was basic grab and go but there was a good assortment of donuts. People in office helpful but not overly friendly. Room was clean but showed lots of age. Beds were comfy. Parking good.

Okay, not great

It's such a cute place, but it needs updating. Could be a great hotel with some TLC and paint. First time I've seen sunlamps in bathrooms since the 1970s. Didn't spend much time in the room though, so it was perfect for the amount of money that we paid for the room.

Pretty filthy...needs renovation and better cleaning in between guests. My room smelled like smoke although it was nonsmoking and had some bugs sneaking in through old walls that weren't sealed. Service was slow for check in, and when I called the manager to get another room, he was snippy and obviously has never slept in one of the rooms he's subjecting others too. Not worth $90/night! Maybe $40/night.

I take issue with the word "filthy", as that usually is the worst of the worst. I know you couldn't have actually meant we were that bad since you gave us 3 stars. We do have issues with smokers, and systematically try to ozone rooms that have that smoke smell. Bugs are known to sneak in occasionally, since we are a motel and your door opens to the outside. Usually only ants or bees though. We usually have no problem offering another room for you to try unless we are actually sold out.

The hotel room was extremely dirty. Not at all worth almost 100.00 a night.

I am sorry you felt our price was too high. I cannot believe that the room was extremely dirty yet you did not inform us, request another room or decide to cancel. We always try to make our guests happy if there is a problem at check in.

Insanely dirty, yet you did not immediately call the office to request a different room, or housekeeping ?? We would have been happy to address your concerns, move you to another room, or cancel the booking outright if you had simply communicated with us.
