This historic building offers basic amenities and a great location. Breakfast was average. Staff was lovely. Beds and linens were very good.
This hotel is easily accessible through tram (number 26, stop Rietlandpark). Although the property is pretty and charming due to its history my room was not as comfortable. There was no shower, only a tub in the middle of the room which makes taking a shower a little bit challenging. I only stayed there for one night. Other than that, the staff is very friendly and tried to make my stay a good one.
Unusually layout but comfortable and clean. Would rent here again but no 2 rooms are the same so ensure the layout out it to your liking
description of room said that there was private bathroom in this room. Actually, there was a toilet only in a separate room, and then there was a shower head in the middle of the room for a person to take a shower, a very inconvenient mode.
Good location . Safe area. Historic building. .…..................... …
small rooms, staff wasn't helpful and kindof rude since we are tourists.
Nice stay in a historic building with all kinds of options to choose your room. The hotel is easy to reach bij public transportation, close to cheap P&R and close to reach the center of Amsterdam. Staff at the reception was very kind and helpfull
Book at least a 3 star room, or you'll be sorry. Below 3 stars, and you're sharing a bathroom with others. No AC. WiFi works great, basic television. Very close to several trams, 5 minute walk. 2 super markets 5 minutes away, with several places to eat also right outside. Hotel restaurant is pricy, but the food is good. Used to be a juvenile detention center, so the entire hotel looks and feels like a giant prison. Extremely quarky decorations and room design everywhere, I mean the strangest hotel you could imagine. Staff was really great, they will meet your needs. They also sell passes to the museums and tours so there is no need to wait an hour in the lines at places like the Van Gogh museum. Overall, good stay, I will return.
Hotel was a good value, bit outside the center but well connected.
Very clean and spacious rooms. Not far from downtown!! Friendly staff!!
Staff was very accommodating, rooms are unique and functional, hotel has an interesting historic story behind it.
The Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam is very unique in its design of the rooms and main common area. The staff is fantastically nice and the bed couldn't be any more comfortable. It is not the cheapest of hotels and the location requires some planning, as it is a bit detached from the center. But if you're on a bike, what is another 10 minutes?
The idea of this hotel is so much better than the execution. It is an easy tram ride and short walk from central station, which is great. It is on the water and our room had great views of harbor and nice area/park to walk around on or go for run. The architectural reuse and crazy history (it was an immigrant hotel then a WWII prison and then a real prison) are bonuses. Love the creative common spaces on each level and the restaurant cafe serves good food (although breakfast buffet was a tad overpriced for no eggs, sausage or bacon). But might be a little too hipster for its own good because it was more cool than comfortable. Our room was giant, like a pre-war apartment but the furnishings felt old, the pillows were uncomfortable and the curtains felt straight 70s. They also fell out of the ceiling when I tried to open them and had to be fixed while we were out the next day. It is also extremely drafty in some places and the heat is old school radiator that cannot be turned on without the curtains open otherwise they touch. Our room also only had a tub so i never felt quite clean and very hard to wash hair. Had to borrow an iron and ironing board and they were cheap and old and the cover was so threadbare that I got an imprint on the pants I tried to iron of the metal of the board. But the room was spacious and had a great dining table and a big mini fridge and there was definitely an element of super cool when there. staff was pleasant and stored our luggage happily when we arrived early but for $233 a night this was not the appropriate star rating. if you value comfort over cool this is not the hotel for you.
Staff is extremely good at the reception and restaurant. Hotel has perfect room comfort and value for money. Its near to Tram station and just 3 stops away from central station hardly 5 to 8 minutes to reach central station. Food is good in restaurant. Cost is also effective.
