Movenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre

4.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

close to old town and easy walk with luggage from river cruise dock. Free shuttle to train station then 15 minute ride to airport very easy. City7 tram near by made getting around very easy.

The service was well below the normal standards you would expect from a 4 star hotel . Overall the concierge was not too bad (Paul) . The bar service was good (Tieman) . But as for room service (3 out of 10) They actually forgot to clean our room ,when I complained they said they would look into it , went down the next day for an explanation & they just said they would look into it - really

Beautiful views from this hotel. A block away from trains and buses. 20 minutes walk to center of town. Right on the water with sightseeing boat 2 minute walk away. Staff was incredible. So nice and helpful.

Very good hotel. Headquarters for Avalon river cruises and a block or two from the ship. Very convenient. Would stay there again.

This was a pretty good hotel. We came for the location and view. Very close to cruise lines such as Viking. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Michelle and Tieman in the bar/restaurant were extremely helpful and personable young men.

Excellent hotel, very close to the port terminal, close to the center city and train station.

Hotel is a modern five-star hotel with large rooms, perfect location (one tram stop from Amsterdam Central train station) and excellent buffet breakfast (hotel offered a special rate at check-in). Spa with relaxation room and two saunas was perfect after a long day of sightseeing.

Booked because of train station and Viking river cruise. Great location for both. Seemed a little pricey but the river view was awesome

We stayed over the Thanksgiving holiday in this newer hotel in Amsterdam. The "city centre" portion of the name may be a bit misleading, as it is slightly off the path of downtown. But, you get a pretty decent view from the higher floors. 5-10 min walk to Central Station or you can wait for the tram across the street; dress warmly for either due to the location of the hotel on the water. Staff was very considerate, hotel bar/restaurant solid. Beds may not be comfortable for the American traveler as the king was two single (and firm!) beds pushed together. Overall: mostly good experience, but be aware of the location.

I would recomend this to anyone wanting the amsterdam experience without the noise.

we enjoyed staying here so much we decided to stay here one more night before going home. the price had gone up but we still had an enjoyable time. the restaurant and bar both serve well prepared food and beverages.

Location was great .. Paid 8 euros a day to park was cool but it was 2 or 3 miles away .. Took the nearby tram to get back .. Over all I enjoyed my stay

Enjoyed our one night stay. Room is spacious and and modern. Would stay here again. It is a little cumbersome to get to and from major sights, however.

I spent 6 nights the Moevenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre, and I must admit that this has been the best hotel experience I have ever had. Upon arrival (mind you, it was quite windy and raining outside and I am a young female that travels alone often (including this trip)), the concierge immediately took my bags from me and put them aside. Guest services were extremely friendly and accomodating as well - they even put me on the 18th floor! My room was extremely clean and had a fantastic view of a canal and the Centraal Station. The first night I was there, I had a fever and fell very ill. I had called room service and they immediately came and brought me aspirin and some orange juice to help. The next day they called and had a doctor come to see me - which was on Christmas, so I was very thankful for the staff and the doctor for them to come. The hotel is located a bit away from the city centre, but is only 1 tram stop away, so this is really great. I especially liked it because I was not looking to stay in the middle of the city, but rather close in a more peaceful area. This was perfect. Also, there is a shuttle service every 30 minutes taking guests Centraal Station. Every day, the hotel room was impeccably clean. I had to also have room service food items and the meals were quite good. I ate one day at the in-hotel restaurant on the second floor, and the chef had even custom made a soup for me due to my dietary requirements. This was the best hotel I have stayed at in Europe, and the best hotel experience I have had to date. Overall, I was very happy, would definitely stay at this hotel again, and would definitely recommend it to friends, colleagues, and anyone who reads this review. Definitely worth the value!

Good location with a terrific view from our 20th floor room (including a spectacular lightning storm one morning). Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast, and other amenities. Reliable taxis always available the front door, or a 10-15 minute walk to city center.

Very good stay post cruise. Convenient to cruise terminal and Central Station. Free shuttle to station to pick up trams etc. for exploring city center. Clean, modern design. Excellent service. Good restaurant. Beautiful waterfront views.

Very nice hotel, with comfortable rooms and luxurious accommodations. Nice amenities including a quaint gym, good bar and restaurant, and business facilities. The walk to the train station and downtown is a solid 15 minutes, which can be troublesome late at night for some but proved to be a nice way to finish off an evening on the town for us.

I thought service and services were very good. I must say the rooms are not really meant as doubles with two unconnected people which was our case - sharing while we attended a conference found the bathroom feel a bit open. Rooms was well looked after delicious coffee tea etc and chocs at night. Breakfast was great and the conference rooms were well serviced.

The Movenpick is a good business hotel with great views of the water. It has excellent access from the airport. Just a 14 min. train ride to Amsterdam Central Station. Once at Amsterdam Central Station it is only a 10 min walk from the back exit or you can go out the front and take tram 26 which will drop you right in front of the hotel.

Moevenpick Hotel is a good place to stay if your expectations are low. It is need of some updating and the price is not right. Hotel rooms and lobby do not exactly look as good as in the pictures you see. Definitely does not deserve 4 star rating, more like a 3. Staff and concierge on the other hand are very nice and helpful. Breakfast is good but overpriced at 22 euros per person.
