I’m currently staying at this hotel and the service has been absolutely impeccable! Quick to attend and willing to help any way they can to make your experience not only at the hotel but in Amsterdam memorable. The rooms are well sized, very clean, the shower is large enough for two! Bed is comfortable and room service on point. The Indonesian kitchen Mama Makan is also amazing, really well presented and tastes so delicious we had the Nasi Goreng and Satay Chicken 😍 The location is walking distance to the city and metro is super close by - I like that it’s away from the hustle and bustle. Totally exceeded my expectations 👌 Jessica M
We booked a suite here for two nights before a Baltic cruise. They room was amazing and we love having access to the Club Room so we can save a little money on food/drinks. The room was huge, they brought in a rollaway bed and there was plenty of room for the three of us. We got in pretty early in the morning and they tried hard to get us into our room a couple of hours early. The front desk people were very nice, concierge lady in club room is amazing. Also, Michele, one of the bartenders, was very nice the few times we went down to the bar to order food. They have an Indonesian inspired restaurant and the food is really good. They also do some craft cocktails which are also very good. We returned to this hotel for one night after our cruise. Checkin wasn't as smooth this time. We were told at 8:30 that we were first in the cue for a deluxe room. We got into our room at 3:15. In their defense, there were a lot of cruise ship people that were leaving for their cruise that day and had a late check out. We just wish that the front desk lady would've done a better job to manage our expectation rather than saying we were "first in the cue". All in all, it was a great experience and we would definitely stay here again.
Me and my partner are life time platinum with Starwood and Marriott group, so naturally we are inclined to stay in these chains rather than others. Hyatt is one of the brand I love the most other than Marriott and Starwood brands, so I would even actively seek to stay with them as I usually love room deco, modern facilities, friendly staff. It’s a bit like treats, and I do enjoy the experiences a lot when I have chance. I was hoping the same for this Hyatt hotel. And yes, the fscility in the hotel in completely new, nothingto complain at all. I would give it a 5 star if the rating is purely for the facility. Service on the other hand was one of the worst in Hyatt brand I stayed. Please don’t get me wrong, staff individually were all nice and friendly, but collectively, service just don’t function as it supposed to be. Here are a few to note: 1) Booking a club room grant you access to regency club. But I do not recommend it at all. If you were offered as freebies, then take it, but certainly not worth 50 or 90 euro extra charge. The Asian lady in the lounge is very attentive, other staff, not so much. The evening service starts at 6 and last till 8. My parents were there from 6, and by 630 the food already run out, but staff is not bothered replacing any food and left them empty literally until 730pm. Only then the Asian lady came in and started to replacing them. The male staff was more busy replacing the plates and cups, though he surely has seen the food is running low. There are only three kind of food in the evening, all salad and salmon, with a bit of cheese board and one kind sausage. Unless you drink like a fish (the variety of alcohol they serve seems to be reasonable), not worth it. I can have a salad bar from nearby supermarket across the street for less than 10 Euro. 2) I booked two rooms, one for myself, one for my parents. One club room, the other normal room, using some residual Hyatt points. I asked if the club room can take any guest, the answer was no. Then I casually mentioned that it’s a shame as other hotel like Marriott do allow guest to take in one or two guests usually, no ulterior motive behind, just trying to making conversetion. I mean, if it’s hyatt policy, then it is as it is, so it can’t be helped. The receptionist, on the other hand, didn’t take it well, and said “yes sir, but you are staying Hyatt”. I think she didn’t mean to offend, but it can sound like boarderline rude to other people. I thought about saying something, but thought twice, and just let it go. Also to mention, there was no introduction about the facilities, club service or club guests can have breakfast at downstairs restaurant: no mentioning of any of the above at all, which I had to find out myself later when I get to the room and realised, oh, actually the receptionist told me nothing. 3)Room will not get cleaned if you forgot to remove “do not disturb” sign on the door. This happened on the day when I was out for the whole day and got back just want to relax and go to bed. The girl who attended said they keep the policy not to disturb at all very strictly and if the sign is on, then won’t even knock it ring you. I get that some people can get really annoyed if hotels will knock on the door if they have do not disturb sign on. But what usually happens in the hotel I stayed so far is that they will come around and see if guests are still in the rooms around lunch time if the do not disturb sign is still on, not just take it as the do not disturb sign as literally as in this hotel. So if you want to get your room cleaned, make sure you do not leave the sign on no matter how much of rush you are in when you are getting ready to leave the hotel. The girl explained it to me very clearly, and she was actually very nice. She said the cleaning was arranged straightaway. Waited in the club about 30 mins, and got kicked out because they were closing at 10pm. When I get back to the room, no trace of cleaning at all, not even started. By this rate, I thought it will be mid night to get my room cleaned and I just can’t be bothered any more with the fuss. When I found the cleaning wasn’t underway, I tried to find the staff still waiting at the lounge (the same male staff who failed to replace any empty food presentation the other day) told me to just go downstairs, but not to talk to him. A slight sympathy from him would have been nice, but obviously it was too much to expect from him. 4)the breakfast is served in the lounge as well as downstairs restaurant. Don’t bother with lounge if you wanna have breakfast. The lounge is open, but when my parents got there 930, yet again, the table was left with nearly empty food presentation. If the hotel can’t be bothered to put foods in the lounge, why not close it instead and just tell club guests to go downstairs ? It should be embarrassing for the hotel management to let the lounge look like a complete farce. 5)if you and your family booked two rooms, don’t bother with you card keys as the card keys seem to be programmed to go to your own floor, but not others. This is very odd: most of the hotel will give you access to the floors you may need. I ended up using stairs to go to my parents floor, only to find even open another floors stairs door needs correct card key. In the end I had to ask my parents to come and wait at the other side of the stair door to open for me. 6)breakfast restaurant is another disaster. No one will show you to the table, you just walk in. No one seems to be in charge of any particular areas, so you just have to grab any staff you happen to find to order (although they were all very nice). A bit of order is desirable. All in all, nothing to complain about the facilities. Services I encountered in my opinion is odd. Most of the staff were nice, but do not deliver. The lounge is a farce for what it provides. I do not think I will book any time soon to this hotel, it was just so disappointing about the service. I thought the facility and service would make up for the distance from city centre, but that wasn’t the case for me, and I will be definitely staying with Marriott in town in August.
We truly enjoyed our visit to this hotel in Amsterdam. The room and bathroom was spacious and comfortable and amenities were excellent. For a room in a European hotel, I was truly happy with the size of the room and bath. The lobby area was very nice for relaxing before and after our sightseeing adventures and the cocktails at the bar were absolutely excellent. Mikele (I hope I’ve spelt his name right) made excellent cocktails and host! The staff on a whole were very warm and provided many great tips to help us enjoy our stay.
The hotel is ideally located, 5m from the zoo and 20m from the museum and the city center walking. Right in the Universities neighborhood, the hotel offers very calm and well designed room, perfect to recharge batteries after a day of visit/shopping. Detail worth being noticed: All the cosmetics are natural/organic. Very pleasant. We will definitely book again next time we visit Amsterdam.
We stayed here 4 nights – excellent hotel in a reasonably good location. All the quality and amenities you would expect from Hyatt were there – attractive, good sized rooms, nice lobby area, decent restaurant. Also, the hotel staff was very helpful with tourist matters, including valuable help with finding a physician and pharmacy to replace important medication on Sunday, on short notice. We ate at the hotel’s restaurant once, and the bar once – came in very late. I would rate it as good to very good, but not excellent. Stayed on loyalty points, so I cannot comment on value. On a map, the hotel seems a bit out of the way. However, it is near a metro station that goes right to the central train station, and a tram stop that will get you most other places. On the other hand, there is not much variety of restaurants or shopping close by .
We really enjoyed staying here. The staff was so helpful. We stayed on the executive floor that included a great happy hour. The associate that took care of us their was wonderful. Would stay here on our next trip to Amsterdam.
I arrived at 14:45 but was told to take a seat in the lobby area as check-in was at 15:00. I thought this was a bit ridiculous after travelling over 20 hours, all I wanted to do was have a shower. The process of checking in takes at least 10 mins anyway and I can't imagine that NOT a single room was ready. Anyway, as the staff said, they're just doing their job. However later that night, I tripped on the tram tracks whilst returning from the very convenient supermarket across the road and the girl on duty was terrific with getting me bandages and antiseptic lotion. She was extremely solicitous as I was quite teary (jet-lag??). The next morning the staff enquired about my hand, so it was a case of good with the bad. Location is good as tram to RijkesMuseum is just outside. Also a short walk to the Metro where I caught the train into Amsterdam city centre. As mentioned, there is a good supermarket across the road where I bought yogurt and a pastry to eat in my room for breakfast. There are tea/coffee making facilities so no need to fork out for expensive hotel breakfast. Overall, a convenient place to stay even if the service runs hot and cold.
Very nice hotel located within walking distance of restaurants & the Amsterdam zoo. Room was pleasant with a floral motif. Desk and chair were a nice change from just a bed. Bathroom was very modern-walk-in shower, separate toilet and sink area. Buffet breakfast was good. Restaurant had an oriental theme for dinner-not my preference. Staff was accommodating.
This Hyatt offered a tranquil environment, with a spacious room and wonderful rainfall shower. The sauna was also very relaxing. Location was very good, with a tram outside (#10), and the #14 tram (to Anne Frank house) was a 5 minute walk away. I highly recommend this hotel!
