The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is great, near tram stops and the museum district. Free coffee 24/7. No complaints. I would stay there again.

Very helpful, clean, convenient & perfect for a quick trip to Amsterdam!

The staff didn't like being asked any questions about the hotel or the local transport service. Staff are rude and unhelpful without exception. Getting an answer is like trying to pull teeth. They don't like being asked any questions and don't say more than they have to. On one occasion, we asked how to get to Haarlem from the hotel. The extremely blunt reply was get the bus into town and get the train. They don't seem to have any concept of customer service.

Clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was near where I was going. Will stay again!

The hotel was in a great location (though not immediately obvious), and the 4 single beds for a family of 4 was nice. The beds, however, were severely lacking and were nothing more then a few inch tick piece of foam. They even left my 11 year old complaining of aches and pains. The room had no central air (heating or cooling), which meant no white noise to drown out the noise resulting from either the very thin walls or the ongoing renovation. This made it extremely difficult to sleep. In addition, there were no do not disturb signs and the cleaning staff knocked no less then 4 times one morning as we were slow getting moving. This again made catching up on sleep with two tweens extremely difficult! I would not recommend this hotel to others unless they were traveling on a very tight budget. (This is the type of place I would have stayed at as a college student, but I was expecting more.)

The only thing going for this hotel is the location and cleanliness. The location is prime! Vondelpark is right to the left of the main entrance (if walking out of the hotel). The trams 2 & 5 are to the left and take you to the city center, Leidseplein, etc. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. However, I don't think it was worth it. There are other hotels with equally prime locations and cleanliness that I suggest you all book first. There are no microwaves, refrigerators, irons or ironing boards, etc. The breakfast was mediocre. They advertise a hotel shuttle, but I called from the airport and learned they don't pick up from the airport, they only arrange a taxi to take people from the hotel to the airport, which is not my idea of a shuttle. From the very beginning, the staff was rude. Let me explain. There was no printer and only one computer for all guests to use. Since there was no printer, the hotel's policy was to print items for guests from behind the reception desk. I asked them to print my vouchers for my tours and they complained about the number of tours and the number of pages. I asked if there was a page limit that I exceeded and they replied in the negative, but still complained as though it was a burden. (Not to mention the Internet connection was horrible throughout the hotel, including when using the one public computer.) You do not have to believe my review or give it much weight. You may have a different experience, but is it worth the risk? I say no. Just find another hotel that is equally situated and be secure in knowing you will not face my situation during a time that is supposed to be relaxing for you.

Stayed here on 2 of my 5 trips to Amsterdam. Great location in upscale district of Amsterdam. Not far from trams and eating area in walking distance. Rooms are clean and view of park is nice. I have stayed in many hotels in Amsterdam and this is the best bang for your buck!!

The rooms are tiny, the beds smaller than twin. But it is quiet yet right in the middle of things and the price is right. The breakfast was OK for 10 Euros, but good they had it as nothing opened till 8 or 9 and the hotel breakfast started at 7. Right off the tram / streetcar line 3 or 5.

Excellent loaction near Vondelpark and the musuem district and reasonably close by to the restaurants in Oud Zuid.

The bed was really comfortable and the room was clean. It was very close to the Van Gogh Museum.

Hotel has a nice location in Amsterdam, room was pretty tight but worked, great and helpful staff.

The hot water in the building does not consistently work and some of your showers might be a little cold. The housekeeping staff walked into the room without knocking twice in my 8 night stay. The breakfast was so overcrowded and the staff was unpleasant. Wonderful location. Located near a beautiful park as well as several museums. The tram service is excellent to the central part of the city.

This was a great location. Gave us a clean room with towels. Right next to vondelpark and a close walk to everything else. We will definitely stay at the CG again!

I will never stay at this hotel again !!!! If you looking to get sleep then this is not the hotel for you. Breakfast is average but location is great away from the busy streets and close to the museums. I do not recommend this hotel...

rooms very clean, great location, friendly staff. Nice breakfast buffet. Hotel is an older building which shows in some areas. Would stay there again without a second thought. Great trip!

Staff was unfrriendly but helpful. The room was nice, but the walls are paper thin. I could hear every foot step, conversation, and movement that the people next door made. I was not happy with the room for because it was impossble to sleep because the people next door were so loud... Nice TV but no fridge. I would not go back to this hotel.

Amsterdam is an old and expensive city-hotels are not cheap at any location. City garden was in a great location, although old and in need of a referbish especially the bathroom. It was nice to have been able to open the window and enjoy the fresh air in our room. The breakfast supplied was a pleasant surprise with a nice selection of offers. Staff were maybe a little too relaxed to be helpful when assistance was required. Overall, it was what I expected and I am not unhappy as we had a great time.

It was a nice cozy room. It was very affordable and priced right. Only a couple blocks from the tram and walking distance to plenty of shopping museums and restaurants.

We needed someplace to stay over night while waiting for a flight. This was a great place to sleep. If we had time to sight see, this would have been a great location. We were able to walk a few blocks and see some of the city during out brief overnight stay. The rooms are small, but adequate if you won't be staying in the room a lot. The beds were very comfortable and the staff were friendly and very helpful.

The hotel was located about a ten minute walk from restaurants, shops, museums ect. The staff was very helpful & friendly. I had a single room. It was small & the floors were a bit creaky. Overall, it was very clean and had a safe. They serve free breakfast which was delicious. Best of all free internet service. Don't expect to use a calling card- 01800 numbers are blocked. I was pleasantly delighted.
