We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was centrally located so easy access to all of the sights and beautiful view being right on a canal. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. Bellman Jordan was full of great advice and always so pleasant and the concierge, Sue was a terrific help with restaurant suggestions and also very kind and friendly. We always felt very welcomed. It was a splurge price-wise but it was worth it!

On Sunday April 8th I visited with my wife the bar at 1 .10 am and the staff refused to serve us even thought we explained to them that we were staying at the hotel. The reason was that they close at 1am. My question is .: Could not have served us for just 10 min delay ? They could have charged our room . Why Saturday night (actually it was Sunday morning 1am) they refused us having some good time ? The exception was a bartender named Evaggelos who was not that night on duty !

We are just back from a three night stay at this lovely property. A wonderful location in the heart of everything. The staff stands at the ready at every turn as you arrive in the grand lobby, and that level of service pulses throughout your stay. The rooms were a bit compact, but lovely still. And, they offer the best hair dryers ever! The fitness center (also small) was spotless and well equipped. Maria in th lobby bar truly does serve "the best Bloody Mary's in town", with a smile... so be sure to indulge! I would love to give this property the full five stars, but a drawback for me was the rampant cell phone use throughout all of the property's wonderful common areas. That behavior (and the permitting of it) so detracts from the property's charm and ambiance. I did inquire about the rampant cell phone use at the front desk at one point. My frustration was met simply (and unfortunately) with a shrug of the shoulders. Sorry, but these displays of bad behavior on the part of your guests (i.e. taking a 20 minute call on speaker mode) are not okay. We sought out this property for its luxurious accommodations and refined service. It was disappointing that we were at times unable to enjoy the property due to other guests. We would have appreciated some systems in place to reign in such rudeness.

The food and service at this hotel were 10/10. We had a beautiful view overlooking the beautiful Amstel River. Concierge service was amazing and we loved he hotel's cruise of the canals. The location of the hotel is within walking distance to all main attractions of Amsterdam.

5 stars not sufficient to rate this beautiful hotel. It exceeds 5 stars due to the attentive and accommodating staff that you encounter throughout the hotel. In particular the concierge service is superior to many! Eef, Roy and Roeland coordinated and helped us make reservations for all of our activities and restaurant preferences prior to arrival in Amsterdam. As a result, our 10 day stay felt as if every detail had been taken care of. To our surprise we were welcomed with champagne for our anniversary and our room had a beautiful view with a balcony facing the canal and beautiful bell tower. The location of the hotel is superb in a very walkable area with great restaurants and beautiful canal walks. The attention and care that the staff provided is truly a distinguishing feature that we truly appreciated. Also, the pool is very relaxing and everything was exceptionally clean. We had one of the best stays in Europe ever!

During my three days stay I experienced some ups and downs. The ups: - friendly staff at the reception, door man and concierge - nice lobby and lobby bar - upgrade to a junior suite (actually a larger room) - nice location in the center of the city The downs: - inattentive staff at the lobby bar - horrible smell in the room - technical issue with the TV in the meeting room - long waiting time at lunch in the brasserie The bad smell in the room was really disgusting. When I reported it to the front desk, they tried to do their best, but after returning from dinner to the room, it was not entirely gone. I would have expected some apologies or rebate at check out, but not one word was said about the incident. This was disappointing.

From the moment the doorman greeted our taxi from the airport the service at this hotel was faultless. Despite arriving early our room was ready, check in and check out was swift and easy and all the staff from the concierge to the restaurant staff were helpful and very friendly.We stayed for three nights and I can't think of anything but positive things to say about this hotel and the staff. Location wise it is very central and all the museums, shopping areas, flower market and red light district (if you are curious) are within easy walking distance. If my wife and I were to visit the Dam again we would not look beyond De L'Europe.

This is simply a spectacular hotel. Celebrated Dutch architect Cees Dam is responsible for this very original design (full renovation in 2009). The service is attentive, but the real winners are the three restaurants and bar.

It’s always a worry, should you return to a place when you had such a great time the first time around but we did and had such a great time I am already planning a third visit. The location cannot be bettered and the views over the canals wonderful. The staff team are superb. Everyone tries to help and nothing is a problem. The spa area was like our private swimming pool. Our suite was perfect, peaceful and I slept like a log. Costas is such a kind man who supports a team of staff in the brassiere and front area. He obviously loves his job and make efforts to help visitors go to places they may not think of. He knows his city and wants you to fall in love with it. My thanks to you all again Barbara

We were fortunate enough to have a junior suite with a balcony overlooking the canal. The room was beautifully appointed and the staff were professional and welcoming. The power went out in a good portion of the city and the staff were making sure we had what we needed. There was a contingency plan to move us to another upscale hotel if the power did not return by nightfall. Fortunately it did come back on and we enjoyed the rest of our stay at this magnificent property.
