We and another couple of friends travel tougher , identified my fifth time in Amsterdam and first time in this hotel. Location The hotel staff is very pleasant and the service is excellent. We once ordered food for the room and it was excellent The fitness room was opened with the room's card and could be used 24 hours The heated pool was not hot enough and so was the The sauna. There is a possibility to make boating from the hotel itself very highly recommended! An amazing and romantic experience for a couple.
De l’europe has been a no suprise hotel for us since many years Outstanding staff and great decoration as well as location. İ guess just because they were very busy , this time we could not get the service we are used to Still some customers keep smoking in the rooms and we had difficulty to explain the smell to our children We reserved tickets in the circus , but , actually we are told there is no reservation ( we were just lucky to find 3 tickets 20 min before the circus started @ carre We asked for a canal tour by boat ( light festival) as a family , there were no availability@ hotel and diverted to a terrible tour @ a big boat who oversold tickets ( we were lucky to step out in 20 min as they kept stopping to get a new customer) Although everthing was %100 properly arranged from airport to check in , they forget to ask a car seat for our son and forget to tell # of luggages ( spent 20 min to convince car driver to take 1 luggage in front seat) And finally , we do not recommend bordeaux restaurant & or menu , for children ( no way for them to eat ) we asked only a steak for kids during new year eve ( steak+ fries) that ended up full menu charge ( michelin star) for everyone In fact , it is all about people & experience This time , we learnt that , we stay away from this great hotel during peak periods Ilker
This hotel is like an old friend. Familiar immediately but getting better each time. Perfect rooms, perfect service and wonderful food in both the brasserie and later for snacks in Freddys bar. Might be a splurge but worth every penny of it. First time in the newest wing and super. nice. Do miss the view of the mint tower, but who’s complaining.
Great location, Michelin starred restaurant, impeccable service, nothing was too much trouble, hospitality, evening boat cruise, amazing views, very comfortable, cosy and comfortable, I will definitely be back
Having traveled I would say that the De L Europe is one of the best if not the best Hotel in Amsterdam From the moment you enter you are seen to hand to foot with always smiling service and staff that go the extra mile Rooms: We has 2 premium rooms as well as a Jr Suit the rooms are luxury and comfortable it is clear that you are staying in a Lux hotel. The bathroom are also amazing made of marble and the size of some of the European rooms. Service: The service is by far the best I have ever received as I mentioned staff willnwaotnof you had and foot from any of your touring needs down to your late night food craving At this point I would like to thank the staff at the hotel for a great job done . I also would like to specially thank the night staff Jonathan and Zack for all their trouble to get us halal food every night as well as inform us about the best places to visit. Made our stay even more special . Food the breakfast at the hotel was great its a order menu as well as a buffet the range of food are all amazing quality and great tasting breakfast is a must not to mention the views of the canals Location The location is great in central Amsterdam so everything is walking distance and if not there is a tram station right outside the hotel which gets you just about anywhere Pricing While the pricing of the hotel is high it is worth every penny . You get what you pay for and more if one can afford it I would say it’s a must Overall I without doubt would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam it is Dutch luxury and hospitality at its finest and should be experienced by everyone! Keep it up guys !
This is our third stay at this grand hotel. Old world charm at it’s best. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, the marbled bathrooms are pure luxury. The main lobby is warm and inviting, Freddy’s bar is a must.
Based upon a recommendation from friends I abandoned my usual hotel of choice in Amsterdam ,The Waldorf for the Hotel De L'Europe a mistake of immense proportions. I read with interest the reviews submitted from other TripAdvisor members and must admit from my appalling experience I thought I must have checked into another property. In general the service is arrogant, flippant, disinterested and dismissive. As a Leaders Club member of LHW I was surprised at the obvious disdain displayed not only at check-in but throughout my stay . In fact I will not be renewing my membership nor support any other member hotel as a result of this stay. As a club member benefit ,an enhanced room is offered if possible. In fact the hotel very kindly direct emailed me prior to arrival specifically stating a canal view room would be allocated if available. At no time did I expect such a kind gesture given occupancy can be high especially over weekends .The offer was extremely kind given I was to celebrate my birthday with friends at the hotels restaurant. Upon check in I was informed the hotel had several rooms available and an upgraded canal room view would only be allocated if I agreed to an additional 100 euro a night. This not only rendered the offer in writing by the hotel to be disingenuous but also clearly confirmed the benefits of the Leaders Club as baseless. The hotel not only reneged on its offer but then proceeded to provide the same at an additional cost .A dire reflection on the credibility of management. I reached out to the Director of Rooms during my stay so I could understand further why the hotel had reneged the offer given availability was wide open in all room categories. I received a generic response recognizing the service breakdown but then the same response reinforced the merits of the hotels staff and their commitment to guest experience which was utterly inappropriate given what had occurred. Interestingly a canal view room was then offered. Of course I declined the offer as would any self respecting person. At no time did the Director of Rooms offer to meet me in person to discuss my concerns. I have a solid basis for comparison after staying several times at the Waldorf and there is no comparison ? The Waldorf's professionalism and dedication to impeccable service is palpable not so at Hotel De L'Europe in fact quite the opposite . The location is central but surrounded by tattoo parlors and fast food outlets not particularly salubrious however if that environment meets your needs then all are at arms length. My room overlooked the hotels entrance ,road noise constant as was corridor noise. Further , adjoining room guest conversations were muted but still audible. The bathroom nicely finished, small with only one vanity and very dark. The room was appointed with espresso machine ,AV system and an excellent TV station selection. No block out blinds so light attrition from the street lamps disrupted sleep.Ear plugs and eye mask are essential. No evening turn down service provided. The breakfast service was appalling .The first morning one fried egg took 38 minutes to arrive and there was only two tables occupied in the restaurant. The second morning the waitress forgot to submit the order so after a wait from 7.40 am to 8.30 am we left without breakfast .The same waitress had to ask our room number 3 times apologizing as she kept forgetting what she was told two minutes prior .At times I thought I was in a training school for wait staff. The third morning we opted for cereal so there would be no lapse in service. The continuity of service degradation continued. On our day of departure we received a note letting us know breakfast was available at 7 am and given our early flight we were pleased .However we arrived at breakfast only to find the restaurant closed. Security noticed us sitting outside and quickly attempted to resolve the problem again no apology just a display of arrogance. The redeeming positive of which there was only one the concierge, polite ,positive and professional. It is a pity the hotel is not managed on the basis of providing exemplary guest experience. It has the potential to be a wonderful Mandarin Oriental which would then ensure positive customer satisfaction by imparting the simple premise of integrity and professionalism. My next stay in March has been reserved at The Waldorf which provides consistently impeccable service. My experience at The Hotel De L'Europe will not be forgotten unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. I celebrated my birthday at The Intercontinental hotels superb restaurant ,the less time spend at the De LEurope the happier I was.
This fantastic hotel was even better than the very high expectations I had beforehand! The hospitality is amazing: all the hotel staff are incredibly friendly, smiley and very helpful. They always walk with you when you ask where something is in the hotel and I had many nice chats. This is a historic hotel and it has lots and lots of character and a really pleasant atmosphere. My room was amazing, with stunning views and a beautiful classic but modern décor with great paintings and nice lighting. The bed was very comfortable and a very large size, which I loved, and the bathroom is amazing. The food is also excellent. I really enjoyed my stay here and will definitely come again!
This is a fantastic hotel. Impeccable service, great food, gorgeous, and ideal canal setting. A famous hotel, as it is right inside the old wall that surrounded downtown Amsterdam. Best hotel I've ever stayed at in my life, and we've stayed at many five-star hotels. While we were there, they decorated for Christmas, and it looked fantastic. Great room service too. We booked through the American Express program, which offered us a free room upgrade if available, which is was. We'd already booked a canal view room (absolutely recommend--breathtaking views), and they offered us a larger room with a balcony, also a canal view, as a free upgrade. The room was beautiful! As was the view! We often kept the windows open and stood out on the balcony often. Concierge was also excellent. Recommended and booked us a fantastic canal cruise. I think the company is called Private Canal Cruises, and the owner is Walter and our Captain was Rogier. I also reviewed them on here. Best thing we did in Amsterdam. Very romantic, amazing food, and the best tour imaginable.
We were in Amsterdam for pleasure and business. My husband had his own program this day and I had some business appointments. For lunch I opted for the restaurant at de l'Europe because we had dinner there a couple of years ago which had been very good. I opted for the Asian Crab Bisque which was very tasteful and not to hot, accompanied with a nice glass of dry whit wine. Watchin the boats go by I enjoyed it very much!
