Conscious Hotel The Tire Station3.0 out of 5.0

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel at fairly short notice having changed our previously booked hotels due to some concerns over the building works that were going on there. Firstly, we are like "most people" we are not snobs... we are not rich... nor do we expect to be waited on hand foot and finger. Equally we expect our hotel to be clean, welcoming, and convenient. Thankfully for us the tire station hit that for our three nights in Amsterdam. The hotel is pretty creatively styled inside which we liked, cue lots of pictures of funny quoutes dotted around on the walls etc. We stayed in room 209, which to my knowledge is just a standard double. The room was immaculate, with working air con, a powerful shower and a proper hairdryer which I understand is important for some people! It had a lovely big window with views over the canal, and a minimalist decor that suits the building and neighbourhood. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the check in and out was painless and there is a fantastic cafe in the lobby serving very good coffee. Next door/attached is a fantastically well rated restaurant, which we didn't eat in sadly, but did visit for a drink. I'm sure guests would not be disappointed eating there. I cannot comment on breakfast as we didn't pay for it as part of the room rate, we like to eat at as many different places as possible so it wasn't an issue for us. The hotel is very conveniently located from the tram stops across the bridge, (2 minute walk) and tram lines that run to all parts of town invariably without a tram change and all within 20 minutes. This is not a chore I can assure you, and for us (26 and 27 but old before our time) we like to be a little bit away from the city centre as we can avoid the 3am morons shouting outside. All in all thoroughly recommended.
At 200 Euros a night the hotel's service is lean to skinny. The room is fine, very clean, the mattress and pillows are comfortable BUT: there is nowhere to comfortably place your suit case other than the floor or the only chair in the room. The shower doesn't even have a small shelf to place your own shampoo on or anything else you require in the shower so that too goes on the shower floor (not everyone likes hotel provided soap and shampoos). They don't even provide a shower cap. Even if you want to buy one from them it's not available. Isn't that taking the lean concept a bit far, especially at the rate of 200 Euros? I've stayed at the CITIZENM with the same basic concept, but what a difference! The staff is very nice, but they all hop from the reception to the adjacent cafe and when there's a rush forget about coffee without a very long wait. And then there's the distance to the center. I took that into consideration when booking, but I thought I would live with the distance considering my expectations of the hotel itself. The trade-off is not worth it. Either take a more expensive hotel in the center or, if you're going by tram anyway, take a hotel that's a few stations further away (when you're not within walking distance a few stations more or less don't make that much of a difference), but get a hotel that provides a higher level of comfort.
We stayed at The Tire Station on a return to Amsterdam due to its proximity to the airport and it being in a different area then our previous three day stay. There is a totally different vibe than the canal district. This has a NYC Village feel, low key and young. We walked to Vondelpark which was beautiful and hence the hotel is easy access to the Museum area also. There rooms are simple, clean, and interesting. Loved the attention to sustainability. The check in was a bit different; there is a kiosk in the lobby. Great coffee shop and adjacent restaurant was impressive.
Loved this modern hotel! The decor everywhere modern and so much fun. Clean, comfortable room. We rented bikes here and explored the city. Staff was helpful and friendly. Great location. We really enjoyed the fun atmosphere. If you have a car you need to park there is extra cost. Parking is very tight and there is a tiny car lift to get out of lot.
We had an excellent stay at the Tire Station. The location is fantastic, right next to beautiful Vondelpark and within walking/biking distance from many other landmarks. The hotel's concept is very eco, but in a fun and stylish way. The breakfasts at the restaurant were delicious and in keeping with the eco theme (the pots were made from train tracks!). We thoroughly enjoyed the 3-hour bike tour led by two of the restaurant employees. They showed us places that were not touristy and had a strong knowledge of the city and its history. The "front desk"staff /concierge were very helpful. We would definitely recommend it to other visitors!
This is a fantastic location- very close to a tram line into the centre, right next to the beautiful Vondelpark and with lots of great restaurants within 5 to 10 minutes walk. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful and there is a really nice little cafe in the lobby with coffee, pastries etc. The rooms are stylish and very spacious, the bathroom is particularly stylish. However there is no mini fridge in the room or coffee/tea making facilities. There is very little storage space for clothes. There were three hooks on the wall; 2 were broken. We asked twice for these to be fixed and nothing was done.
Absolutely loved staying at the Tire station. The rooms are so aesthetically pleasing. The hotel is a bit far out from the city center. However, you can rent bikes in the hotel and ride through the Vondelpark into the city... Super nice, especially when the sun is out!
Modern lobby, room is stylish bit small, staff very friendly, location ok (end of vondelpark 5min walking distance), breakfast (15€) bit disappointing though (why not serve breakfast in sticky fingers? the coffee there is 10x better). Overall, good stay for 100€/night.
Clean hotel which, while is not in the city centre, is in a good location with tram stops close by. Room was a good size and shampoo and body wash was supplied in bathroom. There is a bar, restaurant and cafe on site - however, as I did not use these I cannot comment on them. Staff were friendly and it was very easy to both check and out.
Stayed here during a girls trip to Amsterdam. We stayed in a 3 person bedroom, super spacious! Beds are very comfy (pillows not so much ☹️) The location was great, we walked in to the centre each day as we had great weather, however tram stop was only a short distance. Check in/out was really easy. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.
